Nintendo 3DS Due In Japan By March 2011

i hope this doesnt turn out to be another virtual boy. anyways, by April 2011, all optometrist's buisnesses are going to increase.

Some reports are that the screen will be slightly smaller than the XL's.  There might also be some sort of 3D joystick with a form of force feedback.  Who knows at this point?  Pretty much all I've heard about this new system is good.  I am certainly looking forward to E3 to see the real thing.

3D without the use of glasses. I like the sound of that. 3D glasses tend to give me headaches. I hope it's the glasses and not the 3D.

Wow and I thought all those damn PSPs Sony was popping out was bad.

Could this maybe be part of the reason why they made the XL? They say the 3DS' screens are slightly smaller than those on the XL, so it may have been a practice thing or something.
 
I was gonna pick up an XL when it came out, but I guess I'm going to wait until at least E3 now.

If by 3DS Nintendo means 3 screens than thats fucking stupid. If by 3DS they mean the third DS then............wait, DS...DS Lite...DSi...DSi XL...well than thats fuckin stupid as well. I guess they must be saying DS and DS Lite are the same thing and then both DSis are the same thing.

Glad I've stuck with my DS lite and avoided the DSi. Nintendo is getting as bad as Apple.

The article also says that the 3DS is backwards compatible. That wouldn't be mentioned if it was a remodel of the DS. "

By the way, it is not "by march 2011", but "during the last quarter of the fiscal year which ENDS march 2011". So this could very well be a holiday release.

graphics better not be ass and it better support more then just WEP internet encryption.

I am going to guess that the 3Ds (working title) will use motion tracking and head tracking software to create the illusion of 3d as well as adding another source of interaction aka dodging bullets.

Anyone find a tech demo [in video] online of this 3D tech that is similar to the one proposed?

This feels really dirty for some reason. I never graduated from my DS Phat, and I'm starting to be glad I didn't.

I'm sure the NPD numbers will prove that it's a lot of people, and if the 3DS screens are physically smaller, the XL owners will still feel justified. 

When it's released in the US and doesn't fail, I may get one.

I, along with my friends, have been waiting for the DS-train to slow down, but it has kept upgrading itself. So far I've nearly bought a DS lite, a DSi and a DSi XL, but just when I have enough money to buy it they announce a new, updated version. Resulting in me still enjoying my original DS.   
I know some afford the upgrade each time, but since I'm still in school that is a difficult prioritization to make.
