US 360 Price Cuts Official On 9/5

The Elite is tempting. I might have to grab one if my 360 keeps acting up.

Yet, they still crash and burn constantly.  It's just not worth it for an overpriced DVD player.  The only thing I'd be interested in would be the XBLA exclusive games, but I'm not paying for Live to get their full features.

WOW... I just bought an arcade for the original price... WOW

Having not bought 260 a while ago I haven't followed the prices much.  The only think I'm sure of is the Arcade is still fairly pointless.

Consider yourself lucky if you live in America and can take advantage of these price cuts. Here in the UK we're still paying the equivalent of around $50-75 more for each console than you guys.

Wow the arcade price is very solid. To bad arcades are worthless. I would have loved to pay 300 bucks, AND get a 60 gig harddrive. 

I'll probably get an Arcade pretty soon.  I have a launch Premium and want HDMI, but don't really feel the need to upgrade the HDD.  I can just buy an Arcade for cheap, pop in my existing HD, and trade in the old one at GameStop for enough cash to buy a game or two.  That way, there are no issues with transferring my files to a new drive.

Not to take sides but this screams of desperation. 200 is still to much for the arcade, or as I like to call it a replacement box when the good one craps out. Still not worth it, especially if they force the next gen like people are thinking there going to. the 399 PS3 is a much better since you know Sony is committed to there 10 year cycle.

Score!  Once I have an elite, my black console domination plan will be complete.  Mwahahahahhahaa.   MWAHAHAAHAAHAA!!11!!1!!

..now they just need to get built in wi fi, cheaper harddrives, free online and and just plain more reliable hardware (Even though they have cut down the hardware problems quite a bit... it's still one of those things that will haunt them forever). Once all of that happens, they'll dominate.

The 60 GB models should have a big round green sticker on it saying 60GB so look for those if you're on the hunt for a 360.

300 bucks and a 60 gb hard drive. Good deal, as far as the MS proprietary hard drives go. It's more than you'll need, unless you get absolutely obsessed with XBLA, demo-collecting, and the 3rd party services (unlikely).

Major lol at most of the comments. Overpriced DVD player? I guess PS3 wins that fight, because it's clearly nothing but a cheaper Blu-Ray player. Desperation? Listen, I don't care if MS is buying rolls of Bountys to handle their perspiration problems. If price-cutting and buying multiplat rights for your console is a sign of a sinking ship, get me a deck chair.

EDIT: Don't buy the Arcade, unless you absolutely know what you're getting. It's such a ripoff it should qualify for an FTC probe.

Hopefully this results in a Ps3 price cut also. MY TRINITY MUST BE COMPLETE!!!

Wow that's pretty impressive. Price cuts everywhere! The Elite is ever so tempting...

Makes me want to buy an XBox... If only I had money. I'm super tired of the tons of crappy games coming out on the Wii, and I want some good online stuff, which means I kinda want an XBox. We'll see, I think I'll wait until the new one comes out.

I'm going Elite the next time my 360 goes tits up (it's bound to happen a 3rd time on my launch unit).  I'm needing the storage, and with the Netflix deal and pre-loading games coming, it will be even worse with my paltry 20g model.  I'd rather pay for a whole new system than pay the blood money for that stand alone HDD.  At least I'll be getting new hardware and the warranty that goes with it.

I was hoping the HDD would get a price drop, but with the Arcade being so low, people would just buy that and the HDD instead of the Elite.

Why not just buy an arcade unit and then buy the 120 gig hard drive? You'll spend less money.

Wow the xbox 360 is getting pretty damn affordable...

Guess I'll get my launch one fixed, again, and pick up an Arcade to put in the bedroom. As a backup.

Your not really saving much cash. Arcade is 200 and the 120 gig is 150 so you will save $50, but with the elite you can get your hdmi cable and don't forget that the arcade comes with composite cables.

Elite is still too expensive when the 60gb models have HDMI. I'm gonna sell my non hdmi premium for $250 and get a 60gb model.

OMf'inG are you a bloggin machine today Jeff.  That's six in one day in what usually is maybe five over a week for all'y'all.  Really somehow I was amazing at Killer Instinct to the point I'd bet rows of quarters on it at arcades. *sniffle* now that those arcade days are over.  So consequently I guess I really liked the game, especially for some reason I sucked at all the other fighting games, except the one with all the dinosaurs... Primal Rage or something like that... I forget.

As far as I'm concerned, HD can fuck itself, I can't stand the lag in FPS'... that is why I bought an arcade

So with the $100 differential between the Arcade and the 60 Gig, I guess we shouldn't expect cheap storage from Microsoft anytime soon...

That being said, this is making my decision to forego a 360 even harder.  Must...resist...

This looks REALLY tempting.  Even NBC News mentioned the price drops during their business segment today.  If I wasn't so worried about replacing my computer with a laptop for school I would DEFINITELY grab the 60 GB model.  I still haven't chosen which of the next-gen consoles to commit to and I wouldn't mind playing Grand Theft Auto IV, Burnout Paradise, Tales of Vesperia and Geometry Wars 2 for the first time.  Why can't they add built-in wi-fi?

The first system to market should always be the first to the mass market price point.  It took us almost 3 years but the industry is finally stabilizing.  MS will make no more price cuts.  

Sony, on the other hand, should make one in 2009 to bring parity with the 360.  However, it will always have the justified premium thanks to Blu-Ray.  

My best friend never picked up a 360 but with this price point, I can expect him to get one.  Now, if MS will only lower the price on the 60 GB HDD, I'll be set. 

Good, this is what it needed. When you combine the Xbox Live price for one year you get a PS3 price, plus the PS3 has Blu-Ray and built-in Wi-Fi. Although the PS3 still is a better value, the 360 needed this.

Hells yeah! I might be able to pick up a used 2nd one on the super cheap!

I might consider buying an Elite now.
