Tough,Fun and Slightly Sexy
For the people at home who want an easy game, I don't recommend Bayonetta. This game is a challenge to say the least, but you get pretty damn good fairly quickly. But as I said, for about the first couple of hours be prepared to have a few retries
Bayonetta is a game that was released in 2009, and it doesn't look too bad. Plus it has a fantastic sense of scale, second only to God of War.
They throw you right into the action during the intro without telling you a single thing. LADIES AND GENTLEMAN YOU CAN FAIL THE INTRO!
A quick telling of her story; 500 years ago she was part of a clan of witches and she was the outcast. So they shot her and threw her in the ocean where she slumbered, until 20 years ago when she awoke.
The style of the game is deliberately sexualized to the point where it seems like a bad action movie from the late 80's early 90's.
If you were to try and classify Bayonetta, it would be a character action game similar to God of War and Devil May Cry except for the fact that it is insane. Oh, did I mention she fights creatures from the heavens?? No? Well first off, your weapon of choice? Her hair. You'd think "oh she moves her head back and forth". Well, you'd be wrong! Her hair also happens to be her clothes, by the way, so when you attack, she starts losing her clothing. Don't worry or get too excited, when you pull off big combos, she will be wearing a swimsuit - until you get to enjoy some old fashion button mashing to finish off bosses or tougher than normal enemies. When that happens her hair turns into a giant, angelic monster and then completely destroys whatever you were fighting. It's a pretty insane way to deal with combat and highly entertaining.
SO for the people who just want to see the score, read the last paragraph and leave. Bayonetta is a fantastic over sexualized action game that has a God of War sense of scale. If you missed this game in 2009 I would highly recommend you give it a second chance, as I said it might not be for everybody. The only down side is the cinematics, the damn still frames. They showed it off well by having them in film strips but still I think its just bad design.
Now go you little bastards and kick some angelic ass
