In the words of Bayonetta herself, "Mwah" 0

It would be very easy for Bayonetta to make itself an excruciatingly hard game - indeed in spots it comes very close - but although the combat system may be deeper than a single playthrough will lead you to believe, the game is very good at only revealing its complexity to those who want to find it. It seems Hideki Kamiya has learnt his lesson from directing the first Devil May Cry game in this regard, because Bayonetta's difficulty level makes it a very easy game to enjoy.Much of this ease come...

As long as there's music, I'll keep on dancing. 0

Describing the world of Bayonetta in any way that makes sense would require a whole lot more familiarity and understanding of just what the heck is happening in that game than I posses, so I'm just going to say that this game is completely bananas, and leave it at what little I do know.  You take the role of a ridiculous, over-sexualized witch named Bayonetta who uses her dark witchy powers to fight against a horde of insane looking monsters, which I believe mostly originate from Heaven.  I don...

I've got a fever. And the only cure is more dead angels. 0

I never really got into Devil May Cry back in the day. The mix of shooting and swordplay felt a little weird, and the overly melodramatic and edgy tone just didn't sit well with me. That's why I was a bit hesitant to give Bayonetta a try, given all the comparisons that were being drawn between the two. Fortunately for me, Bayonetta avoids the parts of Devil May Cry that I didn't like, making it a totally competent action game that never takes itself too seriously, and is a ton of fun as a result...

Video Review: Super Nuts. Super Fun. 0

Link because embedding doesn't workThis is my video review of Bayonetta. I uploaded this shortly after the game came out but I'm in the process of putting up all my video reviews on my actual review page. I also need to have this been 100 words so in short: Bayonetta is a completely insane game that is memorable if nothing else. The combat system is very in depth, but the game's demanding difficulty and arcane mechanics and story elements may deter some people from completing the game....

Tough,Fun and Slightly Sexy 0

For the people at home who want an easy game, I don't recommend Bayonetta. This game is a challenge to say the least, but you get pretty damn good fairly quickly. But as I said, for about the first couple of hours be prepared to have a few retries Bayonetta is a game that was released in 2009, and it doesn't look too bad. Plus it has a fantastic sense of scale, second only to God of War.They throw you right into the action during the intro without telling you a single thing. LADIES AND GENTLEMA...

Exciting, over the top, and incredibly satisfying 0

Being the mastermind behind the original Devil May Cry and hence a pioneer of sorts of the "character action game", Hideki Kamiya had a lot to live up to with Bayonetta, the game that many consider the spiritual successor Devil May Cry. However, Bayonetta exceeds expectations by not only delivering a tight, well executed gameplay experience but also offering delightfully over the top and campy narrative filled with great tongue-in-cheek dialogue.  From the first moment you step foot into the wo...

A Blush Worthy Good Time - A Bayonetta Review 0

BayonettaPublisher: SegaDeveloper: Platinum GamesPlatforms: Playstation 3, Xbox 360 (reviewed)From just looking at the packaging, it should be evident what to expect from a game like Bayonetta. From the flattering backside view on the back of the box to her playful wink printed on the disc, the feeling of overt sexuality is present before the game even starts. Once it does however, it doesn't let up as it is soon coupled with an over the top adventure that will certainly leave players wit...

Seriously bizarre albeit seriously awesome 0

Pretty lights often lead to confusion and dead angels. If one was to inquire about what games they should purchase for their entertainment needs titles like God of War, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden and stuff like Batman: Arkham Asylum would come up undoubtedly. Bayonetta bends that talk in a unique direction but will no less be added to this list of must-play action titles. But coming from the mind of DMC creator Hideki Kamiya, that was almost a sure-fire bet anyhow.  What’s different...

FLY ME TO THE MOON 0

Before anyone starts acting like an escapee from an insane asylum, I have the rights/permission to use these images. Thanks! -RC    When one mentions Sega, the first thing that comes to mind, for most people, is a spiky blue hedgehog. However, Sega has taken steps over the past couple years to let people know there is a lot more to them than our superfast friend. First came Jack in last year's sleeper hit Madworld, with his chainsaw and the game's Sin City style sending gamers into a frenzy. Now...

WHO KNEW SKIMPILY DRESSED LIBRARIANS COULD KICK SO MUCH ASS! 0

WHO KNEW SKIMPILY DRESSED LIBRARIANS COULD KICK SO MUCH ASS!Let's get one thing straight, librarians are rarely sexy. There usually mature ladies dressed to high heavens in three layers of wool, and dressed in a horrid coloured skirt that goes right down to their ankles and probably sipping a nice cup of tea. They won't suddenly start attacking angelic creatures who appear in the non-fiction aisle, they won't suddenly generate huge monsters from the fabrics of their cloths and they probably woul...

Hair Punch! 0

Leggy Superasskicker Bayonetta, at normal difficulty, is hard as hell. When you're doing poorly, the game's advice to you is to play the game better. Maybe if you hit the correct buttons, you'd have more success. Seems hard to argue the point. This game pulls no punches, but offers some clever upgrades to help you in a pinch. It also offers an "easy" and "very easy" mode, which at certain points in my play through I was pining for. Bayonetta's story, at any difficulty, is totally batshit cr...

Revenge power fantasy arcade machine sex 0

Here is a common scenario that aspiring electronic video gamers can look forward to upon booting up Bayonetta. The player, a leather-clad witch of abnormal height, will leap across the screen doing battle with angelic monsters. You will fire guns strapped to your arms and legs and batter enemies with giant fists and legs manifested from your hair. Your hair also doubles as the material for your clothing, so the more elaborate your attacks, the more skin is revealed. You can also spank your enemi...

Ryu Hayabusa has some new competition! 0

For those of you that don't know Ryu Hayabusa (  隼・リュウ )  , from the critically acclaimed fast paced hack-and slash ninja action game - ninja Gaiden, meets some heavy competition from Bayonetta. Bayonetta is a witch, and apperantly lost all her memories. The only thing she remembers is that she is powerful and from a clan of witches known as the Umbra Clan. At first glance, Bayonetta looks like another standard button mashing hack and slash game, however looks are very deceiving, just lik...

I think I just climaxed 0

I have just beaten this game and let me tell you that by action game standards, it is by no means a short experience.  The total time clocked me in at 14:30 on the normal difficulty, even longer than it took me to beat Ninja Gaiden the first time through.  Still, that didn't stop me from doing it all in one sitting.  From the start of the game, it had its hair-made hooks in me and they only got tighter as I got farther and farther to the point where I'm going to be on a messed up sleep cycle for...

Bayonetta Review 0

Bayonetta does not shy away from being over-the-top and out of this world but if you can look past the madness then Bayonetta is a solid action game that is a thrill to play and watch.   If I said that walking on walls, riding motorcycles in the air and using hair as your weapon where all primary features of Bayonetta then I would still not be doing justice to how crazy and over-the-top this game is. Sometimes I had to pause the game for a few seconds just to regain my sanity. Of course I...

Am I The Only One That Thinks This Game Is Average? 0

The word around town is that Bayonetta is the first big hit of 2010.  Well you can imagine my dismay as put this bad girl into my console and really don't see any of the great things being said about it.    For a start the story is an absolute joke, the cut scenes are of Metal Gear proportions all be it dumbed down counterparts.   Yes its tru that the combat feels good, that's if you can actually see what is happening on the screen with so much visual rubbish flying around.   In all honesty I do...

What the hell did I just play 0

It's been covered in other reviews ad nauseum, but allow me to reiterate: this game is batshit insane. No, really.  In fact, it was almost too overwhelming at first. Torture attacks? Nonsensical Eastern cutscenes? Cringe-inducing, sexploitative combat? Erotic librarians? It was all too much.  But I soldiered on, and after a few chapters I warmed up to the game in a big way. If I had to come up with some bullets on why you should play Bayonetta besides the fact that it looks and plays great, I'd ...

Better Than It Has Any Right To Be 0

After an exceptionally long dose of hype, Bayonetta is finally unleashed on the gaming world and one of the more intense character action games is let loose. A game that is proudly an opus to style and flash, Bayonetta takes the gameplay model of Devil May Cry and makes it significantly more fun and enjoyable and provides a much more enjoyable main character to manipulate.  To describe the story is to give it more meaning than the writers did. It is an absurd story with almost no semblance to ac...

Completely Insame 0

I have been playing this game for a week now and I am just blown away. There is sooo much going on on-screen at one time. There is a lot of action in the game but its fun as well. The characters have grown on me and the game is just plain funny. There are too many combos for be to get my head wrapped around all of them but that is never a bad thing. I love the dark arts and how you feel as if you are a bad-ass witch in the game. Definitely a must play if you are into action superhero/villain gam...

It doesn't get much crazier 0

Bayonetta is a very generous game. Past the 14 hour run time, through the epilogue, final credits and beyond, it never stops giving, providing plenty of surprises and spectacular moments that are sure to leave you picking your jaw up off the floor time and time again. Emerging from the mind of Hideki Kamiya and PlatinumGames, the comparisons to Devil May Cry are plentiful. But Bayonetta’s sultry female lead, ridiculous action, flawless combat and sheer over-the-top nature make it a cut ab...

Bayonetta is Bat-shit Insane. You're going to love it. 0

I can hardly think of a better game to kick off the new year than Platinum Games' Bayonetta. Prior to founding Platinum, these guys have been responsible for such quality series as Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe, and with Bayonetta the team have greatly refined and built upon everything that made those games great.    The game oozes style from every pore, it's got constant, crazy, over-the-top action sequences, many taking place in unbelievable settings that will leave y...

Great, at first... 0

Firstly let me say that I was greatly looking forward to this game. I have played all of the Devil May Cry Games (though not completed them all) and thus was really excited to see new take on the DMC gameplay. Initially I was really pleased with what I was greeted with. The graphics were beautiful (I played the 360 version), the soundtrack was catchy and most importantly the game play was fun. Sadly however by the time I was about a third of the way though the game I was no longer sold. The grap...

Bayonetta Review 0

Bayonetta is one of those games that will constantly leave you in awe with its sheer ridiculousness and no holds barred action. It’s over the top, hyper-sexualized female lead might make you feel a little guilty, but despite all that she is cool, calm and can kick some major back. Just a warning, your wife/girlfriend may not appreciate you playing a game where the protagonist’s clothes constantly disappear for climax attacks. Right from the beginning of the game, you are treated to a lengthy in...

A Love Letter To Action Game Fans 0

Action videogames seemed like they were somewhat on the wane. There were still a great many of them coming out (and there are many still to come) but the thrills they offered were becoming derivative and, worst yet, repetitive. When Bayonetta was first announced, skepticism abounded. It seemed destined for the obscurity that came with being a Devil May Cry clone these days (the fact that the creator of that series was attached gave little solace). Then the demo came out. And opinion began to shi...

Bayonetta is a must play 0

If you like Devil May Cry or more so Ninja Gaiden you must play this game, it is so over the top and creative you will not be able to put down the controller with out smiling. I just finished up my last achievements that I wanted to get and I told my wife that I will miss Bayonetta, she was like WTF...I then made her watch the ending video and she was like WTF (in a good way) again. Sorry Lara, Im leaving you for Bayonetta 0

As gamers we can’t complain. The last couple of months have been unlike any other. The market has been absolutely flooded with some of the best games ever. However a large majority of those games have been sequels, where are new game ideas, and characters we care about? Alas, Platinum Games answers that call and delivers Bayonetta a high production, ridiculous original action game that is a blend of memorable characters, fluid fighting mechanics, with solid story, and high replay ability. Over the top and sassy, Bayonetta is a delight. 0

There are few games that boast such over-the-top action and outlandish characters than Bayonetta , an action brawler with a sexed up, shape-shifting witch as protagonist that kills with her hair- right then... From its opening moments of awe-inspiring action, the pace simply never lets up. This is a game with set piece after glorious, gruesome set piece, and enough boss iteration and flair to sink some of the best that the combo-action brawler genre has to deliver. The vivid, colourf...

What a bit... i mean witching good time 0

As someone who played the crap out of Devil May Cry 1 and 2, Bayonetta was easy to pick up and play, it brought back nostalgia for this style of game, and I have wished to see it grow out of the DMC series, Bayonetta delivers my hopes, and then some. Forget how ridiculous the story is, the crisp 60fps on the 360 make it one of the better looking game out there, along with the graphics. It's not a hard game to pick up and play (however if you want to 1000/1000 it, you might need to take some tim...

Bayonetta represents the best the genre has to offer 0

As someone who has always harboured a deep love for the Devil May Cry games, Bayonetta seemed like it would be exactly the kind of game I'd enjoy. With Hideki Kamiya (the man who envisioned the first Devil May Cry) behind the game, Platinum Games' effort is about that same third-person action with plenty of melee weapons and guns with infinite bullets. Aside from the insane, stylish action, Bayonetta is also filled to the brim with complete craziness. It's one of these games that is de...

Bad, Bad Angel 0

Everything about this game is exaggerated and out control in nature.  Your main character is bizarre and erotic.  The enemies are weird and attack in interesting ways.  This confusion and creativity of design are what make this game so awesome.  Its a really enjoyable ride through a world turned topsy turvy.  The controls are tight, giving you a great level of control over a deadly main character.  The graphics are beautiful, with interesting landscapes and creature design.  The upgrade system ...

COMBO! 0

This may be a bit premature of a review, but after 7 hours of gameplay all I can say is wow! Such an amazing combat system, with limitless combos and unique abilities not found in many games. Sure, at first glance it looks like utter cheese, and the over-the-top nature of it all will most definitely turn away many gamers, but just think of it as a Quentin Tarantino sort of experience. It's funny, sexy, but also gory and exciting. You'll find it hard to put down, trust me....

Bayonetta: a gamer's game 0

IN my time as a gamer I’ve been a bald space marine, a rogue government agent and an underworld crime figure about a thousand times. But until Bayonetta I’d never played as a witch who looks like a sexy librarian crossed with a stripper, armed with a gun in each hand and two more strapped to each of her ridiculously long legs. As you’ve no doubt gathered the titular star of Bayonetta is a unique creation that is at first confronting, but soon proves to be a powerful independent female characte...

Best female controlled game ever! 0

This game is simply amazing! You control a witch named Bayonetta, where you fight against huge god's and monsters. And btw, your clothes( hairsuit ) is a demon which you use to fight and defeat your enemies with.   Awesome!!!  Visually, the game is gorgeous, with bright colors and sharp textures. Some parts of the game I actually had to stop too take an extra look around. The funniest part around the graphics is that it's so much better on the 360, than it is on the PS3. :D   The gameplay is fa...

End of 2010 is closing and Bayonetta keeps on popping up on various top 10 games of the year list. My Bayonetta copy has been sitting on the shelf for months and seeing how few actual 2010 titles my own list has wanted to see what the hassle with this game was about. Bayonetta can be categorized as a third person action game. It has number of different gameplay mechanism. Such as shooting, brawling and some aspects of platforming. As well as few minor puzzles and driving sequences. When viewin...

I know the game came out in 2010, but I just played it this year due to finding it in a bargain bin for 5 bucks.Bayonetta is a really strange game. I'm not talking about the ludicrous main character or her insane beehive hairdo. The entire game is concentrated insanity. Aiming for the stars 0

It would be foolish to bring up character action games without praising Viewtiful Joe and Devil May Cry director Hideki Kamiya; without him, I’m not sure the genre would’ve flowered as much as it has for the past two cycles of consoles. The Japanese developer once again fills the director’s seat for Bayonetta, a sort of cross between his past two combo based fighters. Stylistic to a fault, Bayonetta fires off cheesy one-liners, absurd break dancing combos, and massive boss encounters with amusin...

Spectacular or spectacle? 0

Bayonetta is a spectacle of a game.   The title character is a witch whose power originates from her hair, which is long enough to cover her whole body in a rigid, skin-tight suit.   Let me just repeat that: Bayonetta wears a magic suit made of her own hair.   So right from the beginning you should understand that the developers don’t mean for you to take Bayonetta too seriously.   She is not so much an R-rated seductress as a female version of Austin Powers stuck in a Twilight movie.  Bayonett...

Play it NOW!: Bayonetta 0

The time where Japan dominated the economic landscape of gaming is fading fast, as more publishers are looking to the west for inspiration in design. Sega is one example of this, but their most recent release is not. Instead, Platinum Games and Sega proudly tout that there will always be Japanese developers and Japanese culture reflected in video games. If there is any game released in 2010 so far that supports this theory, it's Bayonetta. Set in a fictional universe where witches and angels ...
