BioShock 2 DLC On For March
If you're currently playing through the BioShock 2 multiplayer, but wish you had a bit more to mess with, the game's developers are currently working on some additional content for the multiplayer mode. Titled the "Sinclair Solutions Test Pack," this chunk of DLC will raise the maximum player rank to 50, add two playable characters, 20 more trials, five masks, and and additional weapon upgrade for each of the game's guns. This pack is due out in March and will run you $5.00.
Even though I enjoyed the game's multiplayer mode, this doesn't immediately seem like a particularly exciting addition to me, since the only things that will really have a gameplay impact are the new weapon upgrades and perhaps some of the rewards that come with the level cap increase. The more interesting notion is that the press release announcing this thing also confirms 2K's intent to develop and release further content for later release. New multiplayer maps would be nice, and some more single-player components could be interesting, as well. Here are three shots of the additional content.

I don't like multiplayer enough to care about this, but for those who do like it, I suppose it's pretty cool. It's a shame the MP is so damn unbalanced, and that the aiming and shooting mechanics don't at all translate well to a MP game, because I thought it was very well set up with some cool ideas.
Kinda bummed because the multiplayer isn't really something I want more of, it's something I want less of. If it were a few more hours of single player content I would buy it. A few characters I might not use and a few extra upgrade choices?
This is exactly what everyone feared with DLC, weapon enhancements online. This is how to kill your multiplayer.
" That middle picture totally made me think of those blue cat-ppl before I enlarged it. "Me too. Wow, was I in for a surprise.
I'm usually not the one to make these comments, but just maybe they should concentrate on making the mode playable first.

And freezing isn't even my main issue. The matchmaking even when it's "working" couldn't be slower. Come on.
" 5 bucks for stuff that should have been in the game at release. "What's the over/under on this being like a 1.86 MB file?
An extra upgrade tier for weapons will only be available to those who bought this. How is that fair?" @Bionicicide: What do you mean? They didn't announce any new weapons. I'm looking forward to it cause out of all of the games that came out late last year and early this year, I am having a blast with this one in particular. All the others have been beaten or are boring. "
I have been trying really hard to love the multiplayer (I'm rank 18 so far), but the near unplayable lag makes it pretty difficult. It just feels absurd that games are devolving and not having dedicated servers when games from 10 years ago had them.
I'm one of the few that finds the guns really balanced and diverse. An example would be if they added a rocket launcher. They could balance it by making it take 2-3 shots (2 preferrably) per kill but making the rockets swirl and go a bit slower than the grenades. They could also make it so it contains only 4-6 rockets before needing to restock, etc etc. I just think that of any dev team to make new dlc weapons balanced, this team can do it just fine. I have been able to use a wide range of weapons and plasmids and still come in first place many times. I think we should give them a chance.
And fix the lag, too. It's so stupid, because I am now very unlikely going to go back to their multiplayer componant, which they obvious spent time over. They missed their chance, though, and now there's no way in hell I'm going to buy their DLC. Get stuffed, 2K." Well, I'm definitely more interested in the single player stuff they're planning on putting out with this thing. The multiplayer, what I've played of it is neat, but I'm not a big multiplayer person, so I think I'd rather have more single player stuff.
I'm enjoying the BS2 multiplayer a lot, feels much more relaxed than something like MW2. $5 is so close to $0 that I'll almost certainly be getting this.
edit: Unless these new upgrades are better than the existing ones, it shouldn't unbalance anything. You can still only equip one upgrade at a time, you'll just now have an extra choice. I guess if they're all markedly better than the existing ones that could lead to a problem.

I think that new content sounds like a great idea! although I have only reached level 30 so far we will see how good its going to be.
