The fourth main Call of Duty game ditches the World War II setting of the past games to tell a story set in contemporary times, and backs it up with a breakthrough multiplayer mode.
CoD4 > WAW
I'd have to agree with Jeff in his video review of WaW in that it "feels like a mod for Call of Duty 4."
I can't agree more, rented the fucking game just to beat the campaign on Veteran. I wouldn't even call it a mod for Call of Duty 4, it's just a half ass attempt to cash in on the Call of Duty franchise by a company with no talent.
the only thing i licked about WaW was nazi zombies
"the only thing i licked about WaW was nazi zombiesThat won't happen, Infinity Ward is a leader not a follower.so lets hope that in Modern warfare 2 theres a terrorist zombie mode :P"
"Yeah but WoW has a longer story mode."So what? it's fucking ass. The only saving grace of that game is Kiefer Sutherland yelling at you again and again and again as the Enemy AI continuously bullshits you while the friendly AI does fuck all.
"Wolverine said:Sutherland was by far the worst part of the campaign. His voice pisses me off. The American campaign as a whole stunk. Reznov is a badass."Yeah but WoW has a longer story mode."So what? it's fucking ass. "This game is still fun after well over a year and WAW is just meh."That is because everyone would way rather play with modern guns then the shitty WW2 guns
I didn't play WaW, but I watched it being played, and I have to say I wasn't impressed at all. I knew that it was going to be a mediocre game when it first announced though. I'm just happy that Treyarch wasn't given the opportunity to mess up the Modern Warfare universe, because honestly, only IW can do it right.
WAW is a cheap and fast way to make money out of CoD name, IW actually made that great multiplayer that it ripped off and aded a new skin.

playing the single player in waw was thinking to myself, hey this was in cod4. multiplayer was unplayable except for hardcore modes, the only other fun mode was the nazi zombie mode.
I am probably committing the cardinal sin here in admitting that I haven't actually played CoD4, and instead have been playing WaW non-stop for the past month. However, I do realise that CoD4 is probably better and thus will be purchasing it once I'm done with uni stuff in May. But for someone new to the whole series, WaW is fun.
I liked what they both did. The both did very different things, to be sure, and some of the stuff in CoD W@W blew me away *Spoilers in case you havn't played them* (The flare ambush, the japanese 'surrenders', the grenade traps, the really nice 'All Ghillied Up' clone, 'Vendetta', the overall feeling of desperation that the game had etc.), but CoD 4 did the same stuff, only a bit more- probably because it was out first- things like when the nuke went off, the part at the end when Gaz and Griggs are done in, the AC 130 gunship 'Death From Above' part, and the AMAZING 'All Ghillied Up' sequence of levels happened */Spoilers*. That aside, I definitley prefer CoD 4 becasue of the guns. After playing Call of Duty 4, I began to feel that World War II era guns just didn't do it for me anymore. And I guess I was right, because I've prestiged five times in CoD 4 and have yet to reach prestige 1, rank 30 in CoD: W@W. Not to say W@W's bad, just not quite as good, in my personal opinion. Also, I prefer CoD 4's story mode overall.
WAW was by no means bad. It just wasn't as good as COD4. I applaud Treyarch for trying their hardest to come out of Infinity Ward's shadow. It probably wasn't their idea to do WW2 again either. Thats probably an Activision idea. I think Treyarch is quite talented. I see WAW as a good alternate to COD4 when it comes to multiplayer anyways.
