Call of Duty: World At War 1

Call of Duty: World At War, for me, was an impulse buy. I bought it because the CoD 4 game we all know and love was just getting too repetitive for me and i wanted something new. In many aspects i was granted this wish, but in many more i was shot down. The games campaign provides a great new look at WWII as 1. An American soldier, Pvt. Miller, fighting against the Japanese as he makes his way across the Pacific. And 2. A Soviet soldier, Pvt. Dimitri Petrenko, fighting against the Germans as they...

A Review of the Single Player Experience 0

Call of Duty: World at War thrusts players back into the familiar setting of WWII, although shifts some of the action from the familiar European theatre over to the Pacific. World at War has received some undeserved criticism right off the bat, simply because of its more successful older cousin. While it might be easy to write off World at War simply as another World War II game, it should be judged on its own merits and, as a first person shooter, it is fantastic. Treyarch has done a good job of...

Modern Warfare with a WWII setting? 0

Yes, its true ladies and gentlemen - Call of Duty: World at War is a lot like Modern Warfare. Too much like modern warfare. And lets get that outta the way first, because otherwise - World at War is a great game. The campaign, which has no training level, is divided into 2 main acts. On one side you are an American fighting the Japanease, on the other - a Russian fighting the Nazis. The campaign is short, but it's very good while it lasts. Although, not as good as last year's. The multiplayer is...

    Coming back to WWII 0

Back in November 2007, Infinity Ward and Activision released Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This game was purley fantastic in many ways. Also, It moved from the ol' World War II to the future. Now, a year has passed and Call of Duty: World at War was released. People higly anticipated this game since it moved back to the WWII theme and the array of weapons. But, this game is more deeper and more darker than the previous CoD games.Gameplay:Using the award winning Call of Duty 4 engine, Call of D...

Been there done that! Bring something new to the table! 0

Personal Thoughts: when I got it I expected the multiplayer and story to be as exciting as Call of Duty 4.  The majority of the story was not as intense as COD4, but the ending was more intense than all of COD4's story put together.  The multiplayer was a huge disappointment, it wasn't as exciting, the guns weren't as great as the modern guns, and the ranking system wasn't as addicting and exciting as COD4's.The Good:The intensity of the end of the story was awesome You got to kill Nazis The gun...

Best WW2 Game Ever! ...Or at least so far. 0

Call of Duty World at War is quite possibly the best WW2 game yet.  Calm down Infinity Ward fanboys, this ins't another America vs. Nazis World War 2 game.  This time, you play in the Pacific Theatre fighting the Japenese.  The story is great.  There are many epic and cinematic moments like other Call of Duty games.  The multiplayer is back, and Treyarch used the "not broken don't fix it" motto.  You get all the multiplayer goods like challenges, prestige mode, experience points, perks, and the ...

    Solid FPS 0

World at War is an excellent WWII FPS. The story is pretty good. The multiplayer is great. There are a lot of little things about the game I like... Like the comments made to Chernov, the misc voices around you, even the blood choking gurgles. The chaos of the battlefield left me crouching behind cover for extended periods of time in Veteran. Too scared to stick my head up for fear of having it promptly removed. The number one improvement (and pretty much the only one) over COD4 is the advent of d...

    Duty Fulfilled 0

Call of Duty: World at War (COD5) is a harrowing, violent trip through some of the most historic settings in World War II. Unmatched by other WWII games, but in the shadow of its predecessor, COD5 delivers a stunning experience, although very similar to COD4.The solo mission has plenty of settings, environments and battlefields to offer. You play as two separate characters - one set in the Pacific fighting the Japanese forces leading to the battle at Okinawa, and the other in the Russian Red arm...

A good game that unfortunately tries too hard to be CoD 4 1

Call of Duty: World at War is the follow-up to 2007's mega-hit Call of Duty 4, although it is actually more in line with Call of Duty 1-3, as it returns us to World War II. When first announced, this move was met with much skepticism. People were also afraid that the game was not being developed by the studio behind Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, and the brilliant Call of duty 4; Infinity Ward. It would instead be developed by Treyarch, developer of the expansions for the original CoD and of the ...

Mac and Cheese for the FPS genre 0

Call of Duty: World at War Review Call of duty World at War, finds itself in an interesting position.  This is the game that immediately follows the critically acclaimed and multiplatinum selling Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. World at War also makes the critically unpopular decision by going back to the World War II era.  All of these things present themselves as huge mountains to climb for the Treyarch team, so is our trip back to WWII a sweet one or another bleak spot in the genre? Story:  ...

Why go back to WWII? I dunno *POSSIBLE SPOILERS* 0

Call of Duty has always been a 4 or 5 star franchise well except for the ones Developed by Treyarch then they are 2, 3 and maybe 4 star games. Call of Duty 5 falls inbetween 2 star  games like Call of Duty 2:Big Red One and 4 star like Call of Duty 3. Story: The Story is basic you control a soilder who kill things in WWII battles then control a different soilder from another place who also kills things. Then someone dies (most likely the Sgt.) and then the game ends. We've all seen it before! An...

Cod: WaW - Great game, wrong genre? 0

On October 10th, 2008 the multiplayer beta for the much anticipated Call Of Duty: WaW. It was instantly dismissed by many as another WWII generic FPS. While I feel this assumption is wrong let us see what Cod: WaW has to offer this terribly crowded and tired out genre. Well for starters the single player campaign is set in Japan and Russia, two relatively new and unused scenarios.  As mentioned before the story takes place in WWII and the story is entirely fictional, but during real events.  Fro...

Hit and miss.........with blood flying everywhere.......... 0

I own every call of duty so naturally i got this game for christmas and its great but lets just say if you don't like world war 2 you won't like this and also the game play is near identical to cod4. First off the singleplayer is longer and more bloody than cod4, alot more bloody. The multiplayer is more or less the same with more perks, a larger variety of weapons, tanks and new modes that are probably the stand out features. Whoever said the graphics are worse than cod4 has their head on bac...

For Treyarch, third time is the charm. 0

When it comes to many game franchises I've played, such as ones I'm casually a fan of like Resident Evil, to ones I follow the story mythos heavily like Half-Life, there is one other franchise that I've been a fan of since the first game, and that's the Call of Duty franchise. I got into it way back when in 2004, when Call of Duty 2 was still in development. I recieved the Deluxe Edition Box Set as a Christmas gift, which featured the original Call of Duty and its expansion, United Offensive. I...

Call of Duty: World at War 0

One word that defines this game is undoubtedly "epic".  Call of Duty seems to have the knack of completely immersing you into the battlefield, making you feel as if you are literally one among the ranks of fighting infantry amid the gunfire of  World War II.         A monumental addition to World at War is the co-op mode.  The campaign is as action-packed and intense as ever, thus playing it with up to four other players is amazingly entertaining.  The audio/visual presentation is simply ...

Too Much of A Good Thing? 0

Okay, let's get straight to the point: I know that a lot of you are not here for the multiplayer maps. You're here for the zombies. Unfortunately, in this case it seems like Treyarch has just gone overboard when throwing in new content. Sure, the change of scenery is great and the addition of zombie dogs keeps players on their toes, but the huge map size, random perks, and numerous traps can all be a bit much. My fondest memories of Nazi Zombies are still primarily from the very first map. Remem...

    C.O.D. W.A.W. compared to Modern Warfare 0

Call of Duty W.A.W. is an excellent first-person shooter and many peolple agree with that, but some think Modern Warfare was a better addition to the Call of Duty series. I have to disagree. I believe that Call of Duty has a much better bullet to damage ratio and the campaign. Although i am angred that they took out the hardcore headquaters, W.A.W. has a great online experience because you have new additions such as dogs and new perks, but you still get that old Call of Duty feeling not like Mod...

It's a good game but nothing groundbreaking 0

Treyarch have been slated from day one when they took hold of the next Call of Duty and brought it from Modern Warfare back in World War 2. However this time around they have built upon what Infinity Ward did with Call of Duty 4 and added a few of their own touches. When I got World at War the first thing I headed to was its single player as Call for Duty 4's was one of the best single players from last year. From the start it put you in the position of a gruesome touchier and from there it built...
