Dance Central 3

Overview

Dance Central 3 is the third title in the smash-hit Dance Central franchise for the Kinect. This title is the first in the series to include a Story mode (penned by friend-of-the-site Eric Pope) complete with an original narrative, cutscenes featuring the Dance Central cast, and time travel. Using the time travel gimmick, this is also the first title to include songs and dance moves of numerous genres spanning from the '70s to today. The game was released on October 16th, 2012.

New Features

• Story mode with a completely original narrative that guides the player through the decades of music and dance.
• Crew Throwdown mode that has two teams of four go head-to-head in quick one-on-one matches and brand new minigames including Make Your Move where players play round robin in making up their own dance moves and challenging the other to copy it.
• Party mode where it will play through random songs allowing anyone to jump in and jump out at any time, essentially acting as a "jukebox mode."
• Beginner difficulty setting allowing anybody to play, even if they have zero experience with dancing.

Story

Arriving to an underground dance party, you meet Dance Central Intelligence (or DCI for short) agents Rasa and Lima. There you prove your dancing ability and are recruited into the DCI and placed on a mission to uncover and ultimately put an end to the evil Dr. Tan's nefarious plan dubbed "Project Lockstep." Rasa and Lima has already sent other DCI agents to learn the dance crazes of the past to use against Dr. Tan. However they have all gone missing, which is where you come in to follow them back in time, bring them back along with the dance crazes, and defeat Dr. Tan once and for all.

Included Songs

Dance Central 3 boasts a soundtrack that spans the '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, and '10s. The game's setlist features 46 songs on disc. Every song is unlocked from the start with the exclusion of the song Tan-Step which becomes available after clearing the Story mode.

Downloadable Content

Downloadable songs from Dance Central and Dance Central 2 will work in Dance Central 3. The on-disc songs from Dance Central and Dance Central 2 are available for importing after purchasing disc export licenses on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Crews

Dance Central 3 features the same crews from Dance Central 2 and introduces a few new ones such as the DCI. Each crew is associated with a different decade of music and given time period appropriate venues.

Ms. Aubrey and Angel are both returning from Dance Central 2. DCI Agent, Crew look, and DC Classic costumes can be unlocked for this crew.

Dare and Maccoy return from the original Dance Central after being absent in Dance Central 2. There is only 1 alternate costume for this crew.

Ninja Crew

Shinju and Kichi return from Dance Central 2.

The Glitterati

Dance Central 2 antagonists Jaryn and Kerith return. Crew look and Street Style costumes can be unlocked for this crew.

D-Cypher

The Robot crew returns from Dance Central 2. A battle damaged version of this crew can be unlocked.

Murder of Crows (M.O.C. Crew)

Dr. Tan and Oblio form this crew and also unlock the bonus song "Tan Step". Each member of this crew has an alternate costume.

Icon Crew

Marcos and Frenchy return from Dance Central 2. They are named after 2 of the choreographers that worked on the game.

Fitness Mode

Dance Central 3, like earlier iterations in the series, includes a fitness mode which tracks calories burned while playing and user specified goals for days active and calories burned in a given week. The number of calories burned while playing can be combined with other compatible titles and tracked using Kinect Playfit.

Character Birthdays

DC3 has a secret achievement for playing In 'Da Club with any character on their birthday.
