Just wanted to ask cause i'm on the fence about buying this. is there going to be a quicklook of the game?

No there's been a fair bit of advertising. It is a smaller studio and publisher though, so they can't afford much but I've been seeing commercials and such.

Codemasters could've done a better job with advertising but ever since the game's project lead (Stuart Black) left the company and the game's art style was rebooted, it feels like Codemasters just want to get rid of the game

Well I was just clarifying that it had been advertised. It's probably been the most effective marketing campaign this year for a game so it's surprising you'd have missed it.

@emergency: I'll apologize for getting confused but there is still no excuse for you to be so dry, you come across like such an asshole.

This is the first game to come out in a long while where I've had absolutely no idea whether it'll turn out good or bad. So yeah a Quick Look would be very helpful.

Dead Island is a pretty major release that has gotten a lot of press and is coming out soon. It's very rare that they just up and ignore something, the only thing really coming to mind is El Shaddai (which was just straight up baffling, honestly).

They didn't do a review but they did do a Quick-Look EX for El Shaddai. Have people forgotten that?

Quick Look EX != Quick Look to me, both in terms of quality and what they can realistically do or say.

The embargo for Dead Island is: 5PM AEST, September 5, 2011 (GMT +10). So don't expect anything before then, unless they get special permission to post video early, which they have in the past I think.

In the IGN review preview they said they would have a review up "very early" next week so they might have an early exclusive or something.

@Kurtdyoung: Jeff seemed to have some problems with the PC version so maybe they're waiting untill that gets sorted out so they can take a look of all the versions at the same time.

People have been streaming their playthroughs on twitch.tv - not exactly a quicklook by your Giant Bomb favorites, but some casters care enough to read through their chats and answer questions if you have any.

Just saw a twitter message from Brad saying they were getting ready to go Live with Dead Island and Resistance 3, so it must be live Quick looks today.

The livestream wasn't Giant bomb, it was two guys on pc playing co-op, but from the 5 mins I saw it looked fun and a bit different.

Dude used the word term quick look. That implies a GB version.

Earlier today (like 2 or 3 hours ago) there was a live stream Quick Look of Dead Island and then Resistance 3 with Brad, Ryan and Patrick. They were clearly making it for a recorded Quick Look feature but were also streaming it out live. All in all both games came away looking fairly good, overall pretty positive. Brad still had a thing or two he wanted to look into before writing his Dead Island review though.

They didn't notify anyone really because it is intended to be a feature you can check out later. Livestreaming it is just a nice little bonus if you happen to notice it is happening. Follow their JustinTV channels and you'll get emails when they go live (that's how I watched it at work today on my phone).

Awww, I missed this! I hope they get the Quick Looks up soon, I can't wait to watch both.

Woah let me clarify lol. I saw the Giant Bomb quicklook AND also saw a separate live stream on some streaming site of random dudes playing coop which sold me on buying the game. Sorry for any mixup heh.

I had a question about the gameplay during the quicklook. I don't know his name, got in the car and said that he couldn't move over and you have to get through the drivers seat. Is that just for Xbox or a weird glitch or something? Cause I can move back and front from driver to passenger. In fact, it sorta gets annoying if you're not driving and you happen to just move the stick to the corresponding side.
