knowing practically nothing about it... I've played 45 minutes of it so far and I've yelled shit about 45 times involuntarily. I love it.

I just got this game...
The demo didn't do much for me, but so many people have said they loved it that I think I may have to snag it once I see in in the bargain bin.
" If I am correct, you had screamed once every minute. "So we can confirm he was frightened by the main menu then right ?
I must have larger stones then i thought
i wasn't really scared when playing and only jumped on 2 occasions but i will not go into them for fear of spoiling the game for anyone
Hope you have enough ammo, I didn't because the guns were underpowered during your first play though.
" @eroticfishcake said:It's a real feel good moment when you kick the shit out of someone who just scared you. Same in real life." Yelled or screamed? With this game it's normally the latter (if you're me anyway). "mostly yell. then screaming "yeah! BITCH!" when they can't move anymore "
" Hope you have enough ammo, I didn't because the guns were underpowered during your first play though. "I played though just with the pistol on my first play-though so on the next i had a crap load of ammo saved up for other guns and all the guns where upgraded almost all the way
I guess my problem was I bought too many guns at the beginning and I didn't have enough ammo for any one gun. I had almost no ammo to shoot with, then I sold a few of the guns and the solved the problem.

It was an awesome game, but it wasn't quite as scary as I thought it would be. (I played it exclusively at night. +50% Scariness)
For example, whenever an enemy bursts out of a vent (at the beginning of an ambush/fight sequence), you get a high pitched violin sound a la 'Psycho'.
Sometimes, the enemies would come into the room/level from offscreen, and the violin track would alert you to their presence.
It would be much better if the violin track would cue ONLY when you first see the enemy. (You'd still be able to hear the vent break as they came in)
They could creep up behind you and you would only get the cue once they attack you, instead of giving you the opportunity to look around for them and get a couple of shots off.
On a side note, I stomped on almost every enemy after it died, to make sure it was dead.

I found a copy for only $20.

"Developers take note! ^ That's a hell of an idea right there!
" @yeahno said:Absolutely feel the same way. Have yelled at the screen every time i have played it and I am about 2-3 hours in. That game really creeps me out, but I love it though. If something can pull me in that bad at 12 pm, then they did a good job. yelled, get the f*ck off me many times an have yelled again as I take em down cause they scared the crap out of me. (blogged about it sometime earlier. To me it ha the same great atmosphere as Bioshock and the likes. I got both Resident Evil 5 and Dead Space at the same time and it really is a totally different experience." @eroticfishcake said:It's a real feel good moment when you kick the shit out of someone who just scared you. I think them alerting you before you see them is still extremely freaky. I mean... I start getting gittery and going "where the hell are they!!!???" kind of like the bad guys in batman..." I have to play it again some time.
About the violin track... you would still be able to hear the monster breaking through the vent, so you'd know it was there if you were paying attention to the ambient noise.
Edit: I saw it for 25 Canadabucks at EB, but I picked it up at Best Buy for $30 instead.
I want to support EA for trying something different :/
Dead Space is probably the scariest game i've played. The audio is immense. I was on constantly on edge. That sustained horror made a larger impression and impressed me more than any old jump scare, which it also had many of. The game is an incredible experience. One particular sequence scared living fuck out of me, for ten minutes straight or whatever.
Chapter 3!

Still seems like the swearing isn't going down. Possibly because I haven't been playing much in one sitting. I usually do a chapter a day (Sometimes less depending on the school work and reading I have to do). I have been lowering the amounts of shits.
