Hey after hearing about Dead Space on the bombcast and stuff a couple months ago ive been wanting play it for awhile now. Ive held it off, but mostly because i don't know whether it's too short to buy, or too good to rent.
What do you guys think? Rent of Buy?
Dead Space
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Oct 14, 2008
Engineer Isaac Clarke battles a polymorphic virus-like alien infestation that turns human corpses into grotesque undead alien monsters called "Necromorphs" while trying to survive on board an infested interstellar mining ship named the USG Ishimura.
Rent or Buy?
Rent unless you want 1000/1000 and can't play for 20-25 hours in the span of your rental time (so if you're only renting for 3 days and want 1000/1000, you probably won't be able to get it in that time, etc...).
rent, Iunless you REALLY love horror games, but you could probably beat this within a 5 day rental period.
I'd buy it, but not at full price. It's a great game, but, much like Bioshock, there's not much replay value.
Buy
It's an awesome game. I'm now playing on impossible difficulty and it's HARD! It isn't very scary with normal difficulty but with impossible you get a real sense of panic and despair. I love it! :)
I'm actually wondering the same thing in my head (rent or buy), to those who would say rent, what about it make it not worth the purchase?
Buy it, since regardless of your feelings of it it's cheap enough that it's a better deal to buy it than the $10 rental.
I'm not even a survival horror type of guy. Never have been. I normally just hit up FPS's when it comes to shooters. However, this game blew me away and I'd definitely recommending buying it. As many others have said, you'll probably end up playing through it at least 2 or 3 times if not more. I'm playing through it again and honestly can't believe how amazing everything in this game is. The sound, visuals, gameplay, everything. I honestly would not change a thing about it. Dead Space has to be in my top 10 games of all time.
Fantastic game. I will say this... if you Gamefly, try it that way first. I loved every second of Dead Space, but there ain't that many seconds to it, if you know what I mean. It's no Wanted: Weapons of Fate, but I blazed through it in 2 days. Granted, it's beccause it was great, and I wanted to see the plot through. I'll also second to playing it multiple times. I actually played it start-to-finish 4 times... the first time as a newb. The second will all the weapons powered up to crush my enemies and see them driven before me, and hear the lamentations of their women. The third and fourth times were for achievements. Hope that helps.
