RPGS are starting to wear me out, but totally excited for this game.
 

Concept : Give players an open world, fill it with monsters, and provide their heroes with the tools to dominate.

Graphics: Gransys is a well-realized world, filled with beautiful scenery and imposing monsters.

Sound : If there’s a shy pawn out there, I never met him. AI companions fill the silence with their every observation, however mundane.

Playability : Combat is intensely satisfying, with an impressive amount of class-based attacks and skills.

Entertainment: Dragon’s Dogma blends the best from open-world RPGs and action games without feeling like a diluted wannabe.

Replay Value :Moderately High

I think the graphics are damn good.

Really excited for this, as it's the first non-fighting Capcom game I've ever played that didn't feel horribly dated.

Also, anything that tries to do Shadow of the Colossus is alright by me.

I liked the demo. I do plan on picking this one up.

I've kind of unintentionally ignored all the news coming out of this game, but it looks pretty cool.

Very interested in this since seeing the OXM preview video a while ago. I need to try the demo again though. I feel like I fumbled with the two fight the first time around. Also, is this co-op at all? I've been confused on that point.

So excited.

For some reason, I really dislike labeling companions/followers as "pawns." Feels weird.

Unless I totally misinterpreted what these NPCs do. Which is possible.

Just finished the demo. I will probably be picking this game up on release day.

@Oldirtybearon: Yeah they are called Pawns because that is what they are literally, the Pawn Legion is their actual name. They are like demi human's who are immortal but have no emotions of their own unless they are around an arisen.

@NegativeCero: No it is not co-op. You can share your main pawn with other people and recruit other peoples main pawns but you can't play with other players directly.

Keep in mind that the demo isn't particularly good at showing off the game since it's two quick fights and your character/party are a bit over-leveled. If you want to try the combat out try playing the prologue without picking up the two pawns halfway through. If the demo seems interesting for you at all though check out some of the videos that people are putting up on youtube, they do a much better job showing off the interesting parts of this game.

In particular, the OXM previews are great, and this guy is putting up a bunch of videos every day as he plays through his preview copy.

It looks like it's time for me to really, finally get to playing that demo. The game looks really promising though.

Demo impressed me, but I'm way past buying console games anymore. Gamefly FTW!

I went from curious to convinced very quickly after the demo. It doesn't give enough space to breathe with the controls, but it shows a lot of promise. Could end up being something special.

Nice links to Robert's page. He isn't the greatest player and hasn't commentated any of the vids I have seen but he is putting up new fresh content every day. Of course capcom may bust him soon but hey ;p

@Karkarov: I think he'll be fine. Capcom seems to have given the go-ahead to show whatever people want about the game as long as it's not a story spoiler. There's a ton of videos out there of the game's first few areas, and all kinds of sites have done their own versions of a quick look on it. At this point I know what the first hour of the game is going to be like for me because I can't stop watching videos because this game looks so damn fun.

Ah I'm glad it got a good review. I just preordered this game.

Wish the demo had been a bit longer, but it seemed interesting. Least the review gives some tidbits to fill my gap in knowledge about the game.

I played it a dumb amount of times, transfering your customized characters into the full game was a really neat hook they got in there.

According to the 8-4 Play guys the demo we played is pretty old and the game is a lot more polished than that old version.

My roommate buys something like two games per year and he's suddenly VERY interested in this game. So that along with this constitutes "ringing endorsement."

Yeah, I mean, from a purely mechanical standpoint, this game looks incredibly interesting. I'm really eager to play it and hope that a lot of the issues that are coming out in reviews aren't big factors.

They do have a point about the talkative AI.

@mikey87144: That's a pretty ignorant stance. I'm not fond of how Capcom have handled most of their DLC, but Dragon's Dogma seems to be a pretty big game and you have to understand that once the developers have finished working on the game, they're free to move onto other projects while the rest of the game is finished up. The on disc DLC was most likely funded and developed separately from the main game and just put on the disc before it's released to save bandwidth costs. Just because it's already on the disc, doesn't necessarily means there's anything under handed going on.

Sure, if it feels like the DLC has been cut out of the main game, just to make us pay more for it, then you have a point. But let's at least wait and find out what the DLC is going to be.

Seems a bit different. Might have to check this one out if I can find one of my consoles beneath all the dust they've gathered.

@WinterSnowblind: I'm basing my opinions on 3 years of Capcom pulling this shit with the most recent example being Asura's Wrath. I don't care how good the game is I'll wait so I don't feel like I'm being scammed into paying more for the game.

I've been excited about this game ever since I saw the cover on Amazon. I hope I won't be disappointed like I was with Two Worlds II.

For whatever it's worth Edge Magazine gave Dragon's Dogma is 7, pretty much saying a lot of what GI said, the combat is fun but the story and premise are a bit thin. I'm still excited for it.

Very excited. For me, Dragon's Dogma is the game of May to look forward to, instead of Max Payne 3/Diablo 3.

Well I'll wait for the version with all the on disc stuff unlocked.

Or watch some of the longer videos on YouTube. The demo is way too short to get a good feel for what this game is.

When I played the demo, it made me think that this game is what BioWare wanted Dragon Age 2 to be. More action oriented without loosing the deep RPG mechanics.

As to be expected, reviews are all over the place. 8 and 9's one place, 4's and 5's in other places.
