Who's with me on this one?
Bullfrog was able to create one of the best and most loved gaming experiences in my lifetime, and it is a shame that they had to disband. Now someone else must pickup the torch and give this franchaise the sequel or reboot it deserves.
I miss my imps.
Dungeon Keeper 2
Game » consists of 5 releases. Released Jun 30, 1999
"It's Good to be Bad" in Bullfrog's real-time strategy game, Dungeon Keeper 2.
This game deserves a sequel/reboot
I agree, I miss that third game that never came. There was a trailer and everything! Going to the surface!
I feel that the closest I can get to Dungeon Keeper these days is Overlord 1 & 2. The game play is nowhere near similar, but the humor and atmosphere feels familiar somehow. In one of the loading screens, I even saw a fun little quote: "It's good to be bad, but it's better to be evil!" Sounds partly familiar, doesn't it? =)
Somehow I doubt Dungeon Keeper 3 will ever come, though. It's been a gaming dream of mine for a long time, however. One can only hope!
Let us infest the internet with spamlike requests for DK3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FREEEEEEEEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... Somethig like that...
I totally agree, is there any game with similar mechanics out there? I'd love to play a DK clone if there is no new DK on the way
" I still have so much fun with DK2 that I don't really need a sequel. "I used to, but unforunately it doesn't run well at all on Windows 7.
" @kerikxi said:That's bad news...they're either going to make a mediorce game or just churn out shitty sequels like they've done with everything so far." @ArbitraryWater: I think EA has all the old Bullfrog stuff, yeah. "Correct. "
Just finished Dungeon Keeper 2 a few weeks ago funny enough.
" @FlamingHobo said:Personally I think that they should sell or give the rights to Lionhead, Peter Molyneux was at Bullfrog and had a huge influence on Dungeon Keeper." @kerikxi said:That's bad news...they're either going to make a mediorce game or just churn out shitty sequels like they've done with everything so far. If you like Dungeon Keeper there was a game called Startopia which was quite similar. You had to keep aliens in a space station happy so that they would live their and contribute their abilities. I played the demo long ago and quite enjoyed it. The reason I mention it also is that it shows that other games in the vein of DK are possible. Would be great to see a DK3 but just like No One Lives Forever 3 licensing issues will probably cause it to never happen.
Oh shite I can't believe I forgot. Anybody craving a DK sequel should give Evil Genius a try, it's £3 on steam atm and it's great. A bit too much micro-managing in the late game but it's still a really good game.
Also give Startopia a try, it's not as good as the DK games but it's still a pretty good attempt.
I'd be all for another Dungeon Keeper. The first one is my favourite game of all time. At this point it's been so long that they would probably have to reboot it rather than go straight into the proposed DK3, but I'd be perfectly okay with that if it was given the right treatment.
I played Evil Genius, or at least, I tried to, but I found that it lacked the simplicity, the clear goals, and the solid balancing of gameplay Dungeon Keeper had. It just seems overly fiddly. The pure joy of expertly carving out an efficient dungeon of 5x5 rooms, traps, and doors, and then training up an army of monsters is something I've yet to get from any other game.
There's a really good chance that EA is just going to let memory of the game crumble to dust. I'm an indie game developer; dungeon keeper 2 (that I first played in 1997) is my favourite game of all time. I still play it regularly, upwards of once a fortnight." @FlamingHobo said:

In my travels, I've found these:
Kalypso's Dungeons - GB Link - This game was a real disappointment, but okay in its own right.
War for the Overworld - VERY promising indie game. I'm thinking of joining their project.
List of indie Dungeon Keeper remakes - Haven't even looked into any of these
Dungeons3D ( screenshot) - My own title. Needs a new name since Kalypso stole my old one XD. Tweet me if you have a good one. "Stone" is winning at the moment.
