I never play on easy, but I will very rarely play a game a second time on a harder difficulty, unless there is specific newgame+ integration or something.
A Confession: I sometimes play games on easy
I usually play on normal. I hate frustration, but I think games get boring when they're not a little challenging.
Ha, I expect a lot of people wagging their E-peen here saying this is a travesty and they NEVER play on easy. You know what? If that's what works for you, good.
Honestly, I've done it too, though I try to stay medium/regular ,which you could even argue is too girly but, yeah, I agree that I get frustrated redoing parts over and over again and I'm not going to want to do that just to save face by saying I played it on Hard.
I play games to escape and don't really have a problem with what you're saying. I don't want to sit their and rage at a screen, it's not why I play games. I'm currently playing Just Cause 2 on Casual. And I'm still having a motherfucking blast. I've done something like 22 Hours of gameplay and only completed 19 Percent of the game, you know what though? It still fucking owns, if I was to do this on a harder difficulty I'd of probably rage quit and sold it by now.
I don't know if I'm shit but even on casual this game can be very hard.
I remember it took me about a year and a half to go from Easy to Normal on the first Halo. And I played the hell out of the first Halo. Lots of Easy.
no need for shame, alot of games are alot less fun on more difficult settings, they just make it more annoying instead of more challenging, like red faction guerilla and just cause 2. I usually play on normal myself and just flip the bird to the harder difficulties.
Now a days I usually start a game of on normal, although I do sometimes like to start on hard for more of a challenge or I'll juts leave it for a second play through if I even have a second play through.
And there's no shame in playing on the easiest difficulty, I sometimes when I just want to enjoy a game story wise or just because I don't wanna have to spend an 1 hour in one part of the game using 'elite tactics'.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 is the first game in YEARS I have had to play on easy. I don't know what it is, because I found the first one easy even on hard, but I die so fucking much in that game.
Dude, you are so not hardcore!
Really... it's not that big of a deal. There's nothing wrong with playing on easy. You don't need to feel ashamed or less manly or anything. Generally I play on normal the first time, and I'm actually quite awesome at video games. However...

" @ztiworoh said:Dude has a major point. Games aren't really made to be played on easy. Often times, easy modes in a video game can be a complete joke. I remember when my cousin was at my house playing Tony Hawk's Underground on easy, after I had already beaten it on sick (the hardest difficulty). I don't usually start games on hard, but I have some mad serious Tony Hawk skills, and then beating it on sick unlocked everything from every difficulty level (the lousy THUG2 forced you to beat it on every difficulty. Lame!) Anyway, watching him play on easy was a joke. I think my cat could have finished several of those early objectives. There was no challenge whatsoever. It almost didn't even seem like the same game. Suddenly it was embarrassing for me to have bragged about getting 100% in the game when it was broken down to this simple, easy form. Regardless, as long as you're not breezing through a game with total ease, then I think playing on easy is fine. You should have to put some effort into a game to get the most out of it. If it's so easy that you're totally bored, there's a problem and you should try stepping it up.Well then you should play games on harder difficulties. You never experience the game as it should be played on easy. You may as well just remove the game and piss on it because the people who make the game generally don't put all those gruelling hours into making it so you can come along and run through sections of the game with no thought or skill what so ever. I think you need a new hobby. and examples of games of the top of my head (games if you play them on easy you are not seeing the true game as it is) Any of the Ninja Gaiden games this gen and last Perfect Dark and PD Zero Prototype Mega Man 10 Mass Effect 2 also any sports game "I want to experience a game and get as much out of it as I can.
I love achievements and would rather be patient, and beat it on hard the first time through. Its good to get used to that difficulty level and be ready for the competitive multiplayer.
" For me it's like Medium: If it's for the story because the gameplay is almost on the wrong side of bad. Hard: what I normally play on since stuff harder than that normally isn't unlocked untill you beat the game on Hard anyway. Above Hard: For those times where they actually put that in and you don't have to unlock it, that's the thing I'm playing on "My approach
Sometimes I do if I just want to take screenshots and not get fustrated. I don't care playing games easy, however most of the time I play normal. I rarely play the game on hard unless I like the game. Playing vetertan in mass effect 2 is like sprinting uphill for example, it's not really effective and it's unnecessarily challenging. Then again most ppl likes a challenge, I understand.
1.why does it matter if their playing it on easy or hard if their enjoying the game?
2. Not everyone has the time to sink in endless hours into the game just to complete it on the hardest difficulty
3. Everyone preferences to why they play games is different for example i play game for a challenge, but some may play as a way to keep busy or as a way to escape from reality for a while.
Lastly just because you play game for a challenge doesn't mean that's the only way video games can be enjoyed for example 2 people are reading two different books one is reading Finnegan's Wake (considered to be one of the hardest books to read to date) and another is reading a book by George Carlin, is the 2nd reader wrong for the fact that he's not challenging himself to read a more challenging book?
I always play hardest first to grasp concepts that would otherwise be overlooked in easier difficulties. I usually never go back to said difficulty after beating it cause more likely then not it's a 360 game so it comes with the achievement.
After that I play on easy or normal for shits and giggles. Being a level 30 Infiltrator and chucking up Collectors is the closest I'll ever get to playing around with my enemies imminent doom.
