Facebook is alright, but I think Twitter is pretty pointless. Neither are evil; until they somehow affect your school grades by spending too much time on there. At that point you need to get off that shit.

Twitter is the best social network site so far. It is simple and easy to use and you can expand it how you want. Facebook just feels disjointed with applications which always try to spam me and the weird privacy settings.

and they also like to addict on whatever is considered cool during a period of time which is why facebook and twitter are overused stupidly and it makes us think they are evil but theyre only victims of the public's ridiculous overuse and overhype .
Facebook has basically replaced my email outside of school/business. The apps/requests can be a bit much, but that really has more to do with your friends than Facebook itself. I can understand people hating on the insane amount of pictures people post, but, as someone who doesn't own or want a camera, I'm glad that I can go to a friend's page and see pictures from a music festival or a party that I went to.
I've never really been into the "constant conversation" aspect of Twitter, but my friends and I use it to link each other things like music or news stories. I think it's a great tool to use as a sort of RSS reader-lite. Last night my girlfriend was reading off crazy Lost theories people were tweeting throughout the episode and that was pretty entertaining....
