Best Looking Games of All Time

Across generations, not just the current one (including handhelds). There are plenty old school games which can still hold up on the visual front. That being said, it would be understandable if this topic was filled with mostly games from the current gen.

Witcher 2 and Metro 2033 are my favs.

Valkyria Chronicles has one of my favourite art styles. Everything about that game (especially the story book in between missions) was just a visual treat.

Okami, Wind Waker, Crysis, Prince of Persia 2008, Tf2 and my personal favorite Witcher 2. Coincidentally I like all of these games, see how things work out?

Two Worlds II . The draw distance is kind of bad, but the environments are very detailed and pretty.

Uncharted 2 best looking game I have played

Wind Waker pops out as being memorable for its look. Team Fortress 2 also was and still very much is charming as hell, lovely pixar style going on.

Uncharted 2, easily.

The Witcher 2 is the first one to come to mind, as it was just released. The original Crysis, as well as the sequel look great.

Also, at the time, Half-Life 2 was amazing. It still looks pretty good today as well.

I'm partial to Odin Sphere and Okami, myself. 

I think Wind Waker is up there.

Metro 2033 looks great to me from both viewpoints. Crysis is only good looking from a technical perspective, to me.

A lot of people seem to mention Uncharted 2, no love for the first game? I mean UC2 is great looking both technically and artistically. But the Drakes Fortune had this color thing going on, like it was a painting. I think I heard the textures actually were painted by hand. I dunno I actually prefer the style of that game over the slightly more realistic 2.

I'll add some games that haven't already been mentioned.

I forgot before; Day of the Tentacle

Artistically, I think Wind Waker is one of the most beautiful games ever made. It's just so whimsical and clean and the colors just pop. Technically, a modded up version of Crysis is a beautiful thing to see. 
 
On another note, a lot of people mention the Witcher 2. I think technically it looks good, but I think artistically its super ugly. A lot of weird color clashes (especially with some of the lighting) and bad character design. That's just me though, lots of people clearly love it.

I'm gonna jump on the Uncharted 2 bandwagon, it just looks too good.

Valkyria Chronicles is easily one of my favorite games to look at ever. It's just beautiful.

As much as people like to hate it, Final Fantasy 13 had some incredible graphics. I found myself amazed several times during that game.

Sadly, I can't think of any older games I still really really like the look of. Well, maybe Kirby. I love me some Kirby adorableness.

I play all platforms and there are some beautiful console games, but I think it's silly to suggest that the best looking anything of all time is on a console.

Half-Life 2, Crysis 1, Metro 2033, The Witcher 2, Borderlands, Kirby Epic yarn, Battle Field Bad Company 2 (all of the games on my list with the exception of kirby are the PC versions). Honestly the fact of the matter is a console game will never look as good as a PC game.

6 years later and Guild Wars still looks really good. I would say it's one of the best looking games of all time.

Deadly Premonition. No, I am not fucking with you; I love that game's style. Vanquish is my runner-up.

All the games already mentioned.
I still think MGS2 and FFX hold up amazingly well. The Mario Galaxys and Assassin's Creed 2 look great despite some flaws. Surprised MGS4 wasn't listed either.
El Shaddai looks to shaping up really well.
 
But really guys, how could you forget Braid?

The first Bioshock blew me away not only visually but artistically as well.
