Do you know many girl gamers? (Gaming Question of the Day 10-20-10)
Even if you are a girl, this question still applies. Do many of your fellow girlfriends play videogames?
I don't know any girls that are even into games as much as I am (a friend of a friend is apparently way into Halo & Call of Duty, getting the full 1000 for just about any game released in those franchises). And I'm not sure if playing Rock Band/Guitar Hero counts at this point, since just about everyone has played one of those games before.
I've gotten a close lady friend of mine to try out different games with me- we played through the arcade version of Metal Slug together, she's big into Peggle, she dug the smashy stuff in The Incredible Hulk, but that's really about it.
Just a few of my exes really... Dr. Mario, Herdy Gerdy, and the Sims are about the only things I remember them even trying to play. They were nice enough to watch me for a few hours a day though...ah, good times...
I am one I guess, and know several. A lot of my female coworkers are actually really into gaming, so that worked out nicely. To be honest, most of my guy friends are not as into video games as my lady friends are.
Not counting myself then I know 1 real gamer chick that knows her stuff.
Rest of em are casual players with the mindset that they're real gamers... >.>
" Excluding the people here and on other websites? Also, define "gamer". If she plays only a couple games on iPhone or DS, does that count? I don't think I know anyone open about it, at least not people I talk to regularly. "No that doesn't count, or else my mom is a gamer and we all know that isn't true. :P
" Not counting myself then I know 1 real gamer chick that knows her stuff. Rest of em are casual players with the mindset that they're real gamers... >.> "Hahahaha, that's funny. My brother's girlfriend has recently turned more into a gamer. I wouldn't exactly call her one because she's definitely casual, but she's trying to get into it and has started playing more games. And is doing her best to learn and be into it. Which is cool. But it's funny cause she might call herself a gamer now even though she's too casual to really be considered one.

I think though that if you are a nerdy or gaming girl, and hang around with those types of girls, you'll probably be more likely to know gamers. At least, anime/manga nerds and the like are more likely to also play videogames than girls who aren't into those things. Or so it seems anyway.

" I know one. I know many more that enjoy the occassional game, but I wouldn't call them gamers. "Yeah that doesn't count. I'm talking about a girl you can talk to just like you are with people on this forum, girls who play games often and count it among their favorite hobbies or whatnot.
Pretty much every girl I know will at least jump at the opportunity to play Sonic or other games from when we were kids when they see my systems but I am also friends with 4 girls who would destroy me in Halo (not that I'm good at Halo).
My sister is quite into games and got me playing stuff like Monkey Island when I was a kid. She isn't a "gamer", but she plays PC adventure games and DS games pretty often and likes Mass Effect.
Don't know any other than her.
I know a girl who plays actual video games. But I'm in High School, so it's not entirely impossible that there are some that I know who are closeted gamers.
On Giant Bomb and other gaming websites, certainly. Outside of the Internet, I don't really know enough girls well enough to know this.
In middle school I knew this attractive girl who played a lot of Xbox. Unfortunately she was one of the most vile people I've ever encountered in my life.
I wouldn't say that, but most of the "friends" I played with on the PS3 are girls.
Real life friends are too, and I know a few in real life too that are gamers.
But not "many"
I only know of one other than myself. Also,

she sounds awesome.
I know a lot of girls that are gamers. Most of them aren't (because a lot are a bunch of vile preps who are too cool for such things or whatever the fuck, naturally) but generally most of the laid-back ones play games.
What I'm trying to get at is girls generally don't play games if they're bitches, that I know of. Not saying that not playing games is the root cause of bitchiness but, like, correlation or whatever. This post is getting retarded. Moving on.
