So as we approach te next gen I kinda was thinkin back to my other systems and the first games I played on em. I just wanted to share and see if you duders can remember some of the first games you owned for your consoles
NES: Super Mario Bros. (duh)
Technically this was my dads but I remember putting a ton of time into that single game
PC: F 14 Tomcat
I liked jets a lot when I was little and really liked this game. Also it had a trailer of crusader and from that day forward I have always wanted to get my hands on it.
Playstation: Star Wars Masters of Teräs Käsi ( I know, I know)
Now I got my playstation for Christmas so I did get more than one game but this is the one I opened first and played first. Man I loved it. I unlocked the scout trooper and leias other outfit and it was incredible. I know now that the game was awful but what did you expect? Kids are stupid and stupid kids who liked star wars had to get this game
Playstation 2: FireBlade
My god. I saw an advertisement for this in a magazine and I had to get it. You could fucking snipe inside your helicopter! Anyway I really enjoyed it. I checked review scores recently and apparently I wasn't as dumb as i thought and the game was received pretty well
Xbox 360: Oblivion
I didn't get an Xbox right when it came out but when I got my hands on it this is the game I got an played. Man my mind was blown and I knew we were gonna have an amazing generation of games
Playstation 3: Killzone 2
So just when my Xbox crashed and burned Sony had just dropped the ps3 price to 299. I decided to go back to my roots with Sony and of course who could forget that E3 demo of Killzone 2. I mean by the time I had my ps3 I'd already read it didn't look that good but it was still a great game and I happily picked it up.
First game purchase for each console you've had
- Nintendo 64: Super Mario Bros. I spent ages on that game as a kid.
- PC: The Sims. It was all my mom had and I had a pretty shitty PC. This game sparked my love of locking people in houses full of chairs and burning it to the ground.
- Playstation 2: Star Wars: Battlefront. I remember getting so much fun out of this game. Every day after school for the first couple months after I got it I'd run into my room and fire it up.
- Xbox: Morrowind. Probably my second favorite game on that system. It was one of the first games I played that had so much content that it took me forever to finish it.
- Xbox 360: Halo 3, unfortunately. Came with the system. Considering I didn't have Live at the time, that game sucked.
Acorn Electron - The search for the golden idol
BBC Micro - Chucky Egg
Atari ST - Xenon
Amiga - Lemmings
NES - Super Mario Bros
Master System - Hang On
Mega Drive - Sonic
Snes - Super Mario World
Jaguar - Alien Vs Predator
Sega CD - Road Avenger
32X - Virtua Racing
3DO - Burn Cycle
Saturn - Nights Into Dreams
N64 - Super Mario 64
Playstation - Tekken
PS2 - Metal Gear Solid
Dreamcast - Shenmue
Xbox - Mechwarrior
Xbox 360 - Kameo
PS3 - Ridge Racer
Can't remember any more.
NES: Got it for my 4th birthday I believe with Super Mario Bros N64: Super Mario 64 Gamecube: Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader Xbox: Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance PlayStation 2: Gran Turismo 3 Xbox 360: PGR3 and Call of Duty 2 PSP: GTA: Liberty City Stories Nintendo DS: Super Mario 64x4 Wii: Red Steel PlayStation 3: Resistance Fall of Man and F1 Championship edition Nintendo 3DS: Ridge Racer 3D
NES: Super Mario Bros.
N64: Star Wars Episode 1 Racer
Playstation 2: 007: Agent Under Fire
Xbox: Far Cry Instincts
Xbox 360: GRAW
Playstation 3: Mirror's Edge
Most of my consoles growing up were "shared", so the first Genesis, PC, PS1, and PS2 games my family had did not have my input, so I completely forget what we had when we first got them.
Here are the first games I had for each console I individually owned:
GBA: Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
PSP: Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade
Gamecube: Super Smash Bros Melee
Wii: Twilight Princess (not entirely sure on this one. I didn't get TP when I first got the system, but I can't think of any other Wii game aside from Wii Sports I played in between)
Xbox 360: Mass Effect
PS3: Uncharted and MGS4.
Amiga 600: Chaos Engine - Pretty much just due to that being what I was bought with the amiga, was my first experience with gaming.
PS1: Resident Evil - Was the main game I was interested in getting a PS1 for. Also really wanted Tomb Raider given the vast amount of time I sunk into games like Another World, Flashback, Prince of Persia, etc. on the Amiga.
N64: Golden Eye - Mostly got it for Golden Eye after playing it a lot around a cousins house.
Dreamcast: Resident Evil Code Veronica - Bought the system largely due to Resident Evil and I also eventually got Skies Of Arcadia so even though the system was kind of dead the exposure to that RPG was worth it.
PC: Dungeon Keeper - I'm not certain on this one, earliest PC game I recall owning though is probably Dungeon Keeper, so I will go with that. Played it rather a lot, even went to the trouble of converting the Avatar at the end via torture, for the hell of it.
PS2: Timesplitters - With the launch of PS2 was mostly looking forward to Timesplitters and Dynasty Warriors 2. I liked the notion of larger scale battles. 2 was decent and 3 improved on it considerably and added co-op too. 4 onwards... ugh...
Gamecube: Resident Evil (Remake) - Yet another console purchase largely motivated by Resident Evil (if I included handhelds, DS would be on there with Resident Evil: Deadly Silence). Always had a fascination with zombies and a nostalgic fondness for the original resident evil, can quite readily pick it up, play through without saving and be done with the game in less than 2 hours I think. Anyway, Remake was great and I also grabbed Eternal Darkness (and naturally RE: Zero and 4). Also, following in the steps of the dreamcast the final game I got for gamecube was Skies of Arcadia: Legends.
Xbox: Morrowind - Really wanted to play Morrowind, owned a copy on PC already but our system couldn't run it. A decent computer wasn't really in my price range back then, still in secondary school and all. So wound up getting an Xbox and Morrowind along with Halo.
Xbox 360: Condemned: Criminal Origins - Got Condemned, Call of Duty 2 and Perfect Dark Zero at launch. Of the 3, Condemned was definitely the more interesting game. Especially tracking everything down and piecing together all the "twists" that occur in 2 long before they even happen.
PS3: InFamous - Wound up finally caving in around the time InFamous came out and got a PS3 as they were starting to get a number of games that interested me. That, Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles and I Demon's Souls on the horizon to import pushed me to finally get one.
Genesis: Sonic 2
Gamecube: Came with Mario Kart, bought Soul Calibur 2
Gameboy Color: Pokemon Gold
Gameboy Advance: Mario Kart Super Circuit
Nintendo DS: Super mario 64 DS
PS2: Jak and Daxter
Xbox: Halo Combat Evolved
Wii: New Super Mario Bros
Xbox 360: Fable 2
PS3: came with Uncharted 3, bought God of war collection
PSP: Untold Legends
that looks about right.
PS1: Soviet Strike
PC: Tomb Raider or X-Wing vs Tie Fighter.
GBC: Pokemon red
GBA: Warioland 4
PS2: Smugglers Run or Timesplitters 1 not exactly sure.
Xbox: Halo
Xbox 360: Gears of War
PS3: Killzone 2 I think.
3DS: SSF4
Timesplitters 1 changed my life and how I looked at games ever since. There are very few games I love but Timesplitters 1 and 2 were very close to, if not, perfect.
PS1: Crash Bandicoot 2
PS2: Jak and Daxter
PS3: Uncharted, Naughty Dog has always been my first game for a new sony system and will be for the PS4 as well.
PSP: Tekken 5, there was no ND game for it
Xbox: Fable I think
360: Fable II? Not completely sure but it sounds right
Wii: Can't remember
DS: Mario Kart
not including pack-ins, all chronologically in order of purchase:
Game Boy: Super Mario Land (memory is fuzzy but that was probably it)
SNES: Zelda - A Link to the Past
N64: Super Mario 64 (figures, eh?^^)
PC: Sim City 3000 + Pizza Syndicate (Fast Food Tycoon)
GameCube: Super Smash Bros. Melee + Star Fox Adventures
GameBoy Advance: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance + Sword of Mana
Wii: Zelda - Twilight Princess (... what a surprise^^)
PS3: Assassin's Creed + Metal Gear Solid: Essential Collection (PS1/PS2 games but I bought them for my backwards compatible PS3^^)
DS: Zelda - Phantom Hourglass
Xbox 360: Mass Effect + Alan Wake Collector's Edition (bought both earlier in 2010 but waited for the expected redesign/price-drop after E3 to get the system)
3DS: Ghost Recon Shadow Wars + Zelda - Ocarina of Time 3D (same procedure as with the 360, waited for price drop, bought both games months earlier)
PSP: Silent Hill Origins/Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Bundle (got that together with the system from a friend but I haven't actually bought a game on my own for it)
NES: Donkey Kong.
Megadrive: 4-in-1 cart I got specifically for X-Men, which also had Rambo III, Chase HQ and an obscure Japanese platformer called "Mr. Pine".
PC: MDK and Hunter Hunted.
PlayStation: Gran Turismo. Bought it after a friend twisted my arm, didn't even like racing games and probably logged no more than 5 hours on it.
PlayStation 2: Final Fantasy X. Hated it and never completed it, tried taking a second crack at it a few months back and still didn't like it.
GBA: Fire Emblem.
DS: Advance Wars.
PlayStation 3: Metal Gear Solid 4.
SNES: Donkey Kong Country
Sony Playstation: Diablo
Sega Dreamcast: Came with a whole catalogue of games from Virtual
On to Sonic Adventure to Sea Man
Playstation 2: Rain of Fire (uuuugh)
Xbox: Fable
Game Cube: Resident Evil 4
Xbox 360: I think it was either Oblivion or The Darkness
Super NES: Super Mario World
Game Boy Color: Super Mario Bros. DX
Nintendo 64: Super Mario 64
Dreamcast: King of Fighters Dream Match 1999
Playstation 2: Gran Turismo 3 and Tony Hawk 3
Nintendo DS: Professor Layton and the Curious Village
X-Box 360: Rock Band
Playstation 3: Guitar Hero 5
Wii: Red Bundle packaged with New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Sports
NES - my parents had a bunch of games, but I'm assuming the Mario Bros./Duck Hunt card was the first one.
Genesis - I got a genesis for Christmas along with Sonic the Hedgehog.
PC - I'm thinking it was the shareware version of Doom from my uncle.
Playstation 1 - Another Christmas present from my parents. I also got MLB Pennant Race and Crash Bandicoot along with it.
Playstation 2 - First game I bought was Crazy Taxi...poor choice. Also picked up NBA Street that day too.
XBOX 360 - GRAW
Playstation 3 - Another Christmas present along with Socom: Confrontation.
PS2: Sly Cooper
GBA: Pirates of the Carabien
DS: Mario 64
Gamecube: Animal Crossing
PS3: Uncharted
360: (bought 5 at once plus 1 more later and I haven't got my 360 yet but) Alan Wake, Ninja Blade, Banjo & Viva Pinata (combo pack) Gears 1+2, Deadly Preminition, and Conviction.

Large gaps in there as I've always been predominantly a PC dude
In order of ME getting the consoles as I've become a collector in recent years:
N64 - Goldeneye and Star Fox 64
Gamecube - NBA Courtside 2003 (something like that)
Xbox - NFL 2k5 (Greatest football game EVER)
PC - Battlefield Vietnam (First PC game I ever purchased and it didn't even work on my fuckin PC, that was when I didn't know that you had requirements to play games; this is why I'm still a console gamer probably)
Xbox 360 - Gears of War
Wii - Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
PS3 - God of War and Shadow of the Colossus (were the first games I got for the system) First PS3 game I think is Heavenly Sword but I'm not sure now
SNES - Mortal Kombat 1, 2, 3 and Killer Instincts (favorite fighting game ever)
NES - Mario Bros/Duck Hunt and TMNT Arcade
Intellivision - Don't know. Had it, and all the games we ever had for it, for as long as I can remember.
Game Boy - Honestly can't remember. Might have been F-1 Race.
Game Boy Color - Pokemon Yellow (with the limited edition Pokemon GBC)
N64 - F1 World Grand Prix. Birthday present along with the system, IIRC. While I was thrilled to have the N64, I wasn't quite thrilled with the game choice.
GameCube - Super Smash Bros. Melee
Game Boy Advance - Either Mario Kart: Super Circuit or Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario 3.
Xbox - Halo/Halo 2 (and map pack) bundle
DS - New Super Mario Bros.
PC - Couldn't tell you. I have vague memories of some old DOS games.
There's often not just the one game because I was either given a bundle, or had purchased a couple of games along with it.
- PS1 - Loaded, HELP compilation made up of Broken Sword, Road Rash, and Myst - all of which are pretty crappy ports, but I was too young to care.
- GB Colour - Some Mario & Luigi party compilation game.
- PC - Warcraft... I think.
- Saturn - Gotta bundle of games off a relative. Can't remember all, but I do recall Burning Rangers, Lost Vikings 2, Clocktower Knight 1 & 2, Resident Evil annd.. god, I had a lot of saturn stuff, and it's depressing how so few games I can remember. I should look over the library sometime and try to uncover what else I may have owned.
- Megadrive II - Same with Saturn, including Streets of Rage, Street Fighter II, some mickey mouse game... ugh, again my memory's pulling a blank.
- N64 - The World is Not Enough, Super Smash Bros, Lylat Wars, Goldeneye, Super Mario 64.
- PS2 - Resident Evil: Code: Veronica X, some fireworks game, Prisoner of War.
- Gamecube - Resident Evil remake, Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 4 - along with the RE2 and RE3 ports.
- PS3 - Resistance: Fall of Man, Assassin's Creed and Stranglehold.
- 360 - GTAIV, which I already owned on the PS3, but I caved because I wanted to play the DLC so bad!
A lot of spoiled children above...I've only had 3 consoles in my life :(
N64: 1080 Snowboarding
Xbox: Mechassault 2
Xbox 360: GTA 4
Worker at best buy straight up told me there was a 50/50 chance that this console would die within a year. Still going strong after 3 :)
PC:Lords of the Realm 2. (I know for a fact I had something earlier than this... But I can't remember what it was. :\ )
Playstation 1: Tie between Spyro the Dragon and A Bug's Life. (Even my young self could notice how superior Spyro was compared to A Bug's Life... :P )
Playstation 2: Tie between Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex and Kingdom Hearts. (Kingdom Hearts was the first RPG I actually owned if memory serves. :O It wasn't the first one I'd ever played though- I had at the very least played parts of both Final Fantasies 7 and 8 at friend's houses before then.)
PSP:Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron. (I actually bought the Renegade Squadron bundle- and I still have that PSP to this day. :) )
Playstation 3:Haze. (Er... Yeah. :| )
Wii: Tie between Wii Sports, Twilight Princess, and Red Steel. (I ended up buying my Wii directly from someone else who didn't want it anymore- it came with these games. I am not ashamed to admit that Wii Sports was my favorite out of the three- since Red Steel was pretty bad, and I've never really liked Zelda games. :\ )
PC : kings quest 7
Gameboy: Mario land and Mario 6 golden coins
N64: Mario 64
gamecube: Smash Bros Melee
PS2: Super bombad racing (and a ton of PS1 games on the cheap)
PSP: Burnout
Wii: Zelda twilight
DS: Zelda phantom hourglass and sonic
Xbox360: Mass Effect
PS3: Uncharted and Ratchet were bundled (although I would have bought both had they not been)
3DS: Zelda Ocarina of time.
Mine are mostly pack-ins
PC: Age of Empires II. Actually my Grandpa bought me it. I still have the gigantic box and everything. The first game I bought was Roller Coaster Tycoon, back when it was a full retail product with a giant box too. I miss those huge PC game boxes. They were awesome.
NES (brother's): Mario/Duck Hunt
Genesis: Sonic?
N64: Diddy Kong Racing
Gamecube: Mario Sunshine and Smash Bros. Melee
Xbox: Halo (duh)
PS2: Persona 3 (I bought a PS2 for Persona 3, Persona 4, and Shadow of the Colossus)
Xbox 360: My brother bough the Xbox, the first game I got was Rock Band. When he moved out I bought my own and the first thing I got was Battlefield Bad Company. I also got 2 free games with it, Gears of War, and Lego Star Wars: The Original Saga.
Wii: Super Mario Galaxy 2.
N64: Super Mario 64 (that or the namco collection)
PS2: not sure
Gameboy SP: ?
DS: New Super Mario Bros. (?)
PSP: Wipeout Pure
Wii: Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
PS3: Black ops (got the bundle that came with it)
@Sackmanjones:
NES- Super Mario Bros of course/Duck Hunt (came with it). My mom also bought me Hogans Alley, Cave Man Games, Star Tropics, some Snoopy Olympic game, and my uncle also mailed me 30 NES games.
SNES- Super Mario World (came with it), and FZero.
N64- Super Mario 64
Playstation- FFVII, Oddworld Abes Odyssey, and Resident Evil Directors Cut
Dreamcast- Ecco the Dolphin, and Sonic Adventure
Playstation 2- Don't remember
Game Cube- Eternal Darkness
Xbox- Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Xbox 360- Elder Scrolls Oblivion
Wii- Super Mario Galaxy, and Twilight Princess
PS3- Uncharted
I just realized I never owned a Sega Genesis. I don't know but for some reason that really makes me sad.
Sega Genesis- Sonic the Hedgehog. This is what brought me into gaming as a little kid and while his legacy has been tarnished in the last decade the first 3(or 4) Genesis games have a special place in my heart.
Sony Playstation- Gran Turismo. My dad is the one who bought it, but it was a fantastic racing game for it's time and it's what brought me into more arcadey racing games like NFS and Burnout.
N64- Pokemon Snap. Best non-main series Pokemon game that I've played. Pokemon conquest might take that title.
Dreamcast- NBA2K and Sonic Adventure. Best launch I've ever experienced with consoles. These two games were bliss for a great but short-lived console.
PS2- Smuggler's Run. It was an enjoyable early look at that generation's set of awesome driving games. I think I played at least 75 hours of it, yeah I liked it a bit too much.
Game Boy Color- Pokemon Yellow. Because Pokemon Yellow in a bundle.
GBA- Wario Land 4. Pretty awesome game.. Glad I got it for free on the 3DS.
DS- Mario Kart DS and Nintendogs. First two good games for an awesome handheld. Got MKDS in a bundle.
GameCube- Metroid Prime and Super Mario Sunshine. Loved Prime way more than Sunshine, but it was a good start for an overall average console to me.
Xbox- Star Wars Jedi Starfighter. I played that thing way more than any other human being was supposed to, but it was a decent game to soak up time before I got introduced to Halo.
Xbox 360- Kameo. For some reason, I didn't beat it until last year and I got my 360 with this game back in 06.
PS3- Got it in an Amazon bundle that came with Uncharted 2 and Pixeljunk Shooter. Also bought Valkyria Chronicles and Demon's Souls with it. Very satisfied.
Wii- I'm assuming Wii Sports doesn't count for obvious reasons so it would have to be Rayman Raving Rabbids. Yeah... Luckily better games came out.
3DS- SSFIV3D. I wanted a quality title at launch and it was the closest thing to that since I loved SSFIV on consoles. Got some play out of it, but it's mostly used for StreetPass purposes nowadays.
If we count Android devices then it would have to be Game Dev Story. Not counting free games since they aren't 'purchases'.
If we also count DSi for some reason then my one and only game would be Foto Showdown.
I'm not going to count pack-in games because that's boring.
NES - The Legend of Zelda
Genesis - M.U.S.H.A.
SNES - Tetris Attack
Playstation - Final Fantasy VII
Dreamcast - Soulcaliber
Gamecube - Spiderman
Playstation 2 - Drakan: The Ancient Gates
Xbox 360 - Call of Duty 2
Playstation 3 - Battlefield: Bad Company
Edit: Forgot my first PC game! Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 was the first PC game I went out and actually bought with my own money, but Age of Empires was the first one I actually played.
