Games you were looking forward to but got canceled.

Are there any games that you have ever looked forward to that then ended up getting shit canned?

I remember eagerly looking forward to Faith and a .45. The game looked to have a focus on characters and story (something that not enough games focus on), but it never got a publisher and the studio eventually shut down. :(

There was a Bonnie and Clyde style game that was suppose to be released.. I forgot the name of it but it looked awesome.

Also, that one caveman game. i think it was titled B.C

Star Wars Battlefront 3

Starcraft Ghost. After seeing the opening CGI movie for starcraft I dreamt of the day blizzard made a game where I could kill zerg up close and personal. I suppose its for the best though. I rather them not release a shit game and not be disappointed.

My guess is that Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been cancelled. That game will never come out and it's fucking depressing. If it ever does, it'll likely be a Duke Nukem Forever situation where the expectations will be too high (though BG&E 2 will likely play much, much better).

First one that came to mind was Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned. As with any game, it could have turned out to be horrible, but the idea of an open world pirate RPG was interesting to me. A different setting than what you get in most RPG's, at least.

Edit: Thought of something else. The rest of Shenmue.

Mega Man Legends 3. And while not much was really known about it, I would have liked to at least learned more about Project H.A.M.M.E.R. before Nintendo canned it. And Capcom Fighting All-Stars seemed pretty cool.

All the other 5-9 Black and Whites that Peter Malonxu wanted to make. It was going to be this whole series that started with Black and White and ended with Black and White 2. Basically the peoples tech would get more and more advanced as the games went on, and the AI would get smarter, as well as the buildings.

Also as the second poster said, the 10,000 BC game Peter Molunixu was working on that would have you hunting dinosaurs and if you let your villagers Idle they would start developing language. But alas Peter promises more then he delvers, always.

Metal Arms 2 was something I looked forward to for a long time but lost hope for. It was never announced but I'm positive it would have been a thing with a cliffhanger like that.

I learned my lesson after getting burned by the first Black & White. Never let yourself get wowed by Molyneuxspeak. You will regret it in the long run.

Glad to see I am not alone on MML3. Despite being a fan favorite or whatever it always feels like that series never got love in the endless nightmare of Mega Man spinoffs people love hating on.

Capcom really seemed to have something special going with the way they were handling MML3's development, and then they just dumped it for seemingly no good reason. Few publishers have screwed up the news of a game cancellation as badly as they did.

I actually liked the first black and white, the second black and white however.

I remember really wanting to play Starcraft Ghost despite not being into Starcraft at all back then.

I was always curious to see how This is Vegas would turn out.

I also want to nominateFortress. I have no qualm about saying FFXII was my favorite in the entire series and even if it was supposed to be an action game or some nonsense I'd give anything to see more from Balthier and company. Outside of Azeroth or the Pokemon world I'd say pre-FFT Ivalice is probably one of my favorite universes and I really love all the games set in it.

Darkwatch 2. I loved the first game so much.. but they cancelled the sequel and it was never heard from again. Also, Tiberium. It looked very interesting considering it was a FPS adaptation of the C&C franchise.

Well no, it probably wouldn't have been. But I admit I was really looking forward to it, too. I'm a sucker for Clint Eastwood films. And movies set in San Francisco, for some reason.

BC on the original Xbox sounded SO awesome. To be honest, looking back on it it's made me realize how badly I've wanted a more modern simulation game, that wasn't The Sims, for god knows how long.

Everything about Star Wars Battlefront 3 sounded awesome, especially with the whole "space and planetary battles" thing going on.

• True Phantasy Online
• This is Vegas
• The current gen Indianna Jones game
• A game that was kind of like GTA in Japan where you play as a hitman. It was around the release of the 360 (sorry I couldnt be more specific, I have forgotten a lot about it. Just had a look for it online and couldn't find anything on it!)

Frame City Killer.  That game was going to be everything Hitman and Grand Theft Auto wishes it could have been. But sadly this behemoth got canceled long ago.

Star Wars Battlefront 3

True Fantasy Live Online. It was an Xbox MMO from studio, Level 5. The Xbox and the 360 never embraced the possibilities of building an MMO for a console. I know they had Phantasy Star and Final Fantasy XI, but that's not quite the same thing. Maybe the technology wasn't there or it was an infrastructure problem. The production did drag on, but these days everyone understands it take a long time to create a decent MMO. In the end, I doubt most console gamers would be comfortable with a subscription-model game, so perhaps it was for the best. Still, one day, I'd like to see a completely open world MMO (meaning not instanced up the wazoo) on a console. In the end, though I don't miss TFLO because there are now dozens of Chinese and Korean F2P MMOs with that same design style. It seems it was a good idea that was ahead of its time.

Freelancer 2. Would've loved to get my hands all around that and choke it.
