People, watch the video before you bash on NHL 09 being in there. I mean, if you want to get REALLY picky:

So, while we've got Gears 2 coming in ahead of it on both scores, the fact that NHL 09 is that close to Gears 2's overall average IS PRETTY FUCKING STELLAR!!! Moreover, again...why can't a sports game make the cut? I mean, if I were to get into third-person shooters and what best represents them this year, I personally wouldn't be picking Gears 2...but instead, I would be picking Dead Space. IMO, while it was a different TYPE of third-person shooter, I felt like it was a far more solid third-person shooter than Gears 2 was.
To top it off, with all the problems that Gears 2 has had with its multiplayer crap lately, can you HONESTLY say that it's GOTY material? I mean, GOTY is about more than just that initial review. NHL 09 has been solid since it came out, while Gears 2 has had matchmaking problems and glitches that are STILL in the game.
So I can see why they would put NHL 09 on there...especially after so many years of the franchise being pretty badly done. NHL 09 had solid, spot-on controls, great multiplayer and Live play, and probably one of the best season modes I've played in ANY sports game EVER!
*EDIT* Besides, like it matters...Snake fanboys have this year in the bag...for some odd reason...
