Resonance of Fate is a great source of quotes. Allow me to share some.

Just want to get started here:

"What is your favorite quote from a video game?"

It can be funny, meaningful, iconic, anything.

Here are some quotes I remembered, although I am pretty sure none of you guys ever heard of it before:

"If you've got technology, money, and a vision, you're pretty much invinsible. It's always been that way"

- Cliff Higgins, Ninja Gaiden 3

"I have a name. You'll be shouting it all the way down ta hell!"

-Zephyr, Resonance of Fate

"If you're serious about letting loose those bunker busters, don't be surprised if I return with my trusty magnum"

-Vashyron, Resonance of Fate

"All we have are raisins" (see above link)

- Vashyron, Resonance of Fate

Just a handful of quotes to get started. What's your favorite quote from a video game?

Since I'm playing Far Cry 3 right now most of Vaas' lines are pretty fucking great.
The opening of the game is still stuck in my brain.

"When in charge, think. When in trouble, delegate. When in doubt, mumble."
It is from Bully. Funny thing is, if you type it into search with Google (with the quotes included) I am the first couple of results.

Mine's an exchange form Silent Hill 3:

Douglas - "Revenge doesn't solve anything."

Heather - "Maybe not, but that's what I'm going to do."

I just love seeing revenge played totally straight without some big moral turn from the hero.

@ZeForgotten: Do you mind elaborating? Would really want to know the exact words the person said. Or was it the delivery that got you?

#9 Posted by stryker1121 (1348 posts) -

"A man has a choice. I chose the impossible."

-Andrew Ryan, Bioshock.

Love the delivery and the conviction in his voice.

I don't know, probably one of the uses of dick in Bulletstorm. So dumb.

Oh, and let me give out 2 very known ones:

"All your base are belong to us"

"Someone set up us the bomb"

OK one more.

"We call ourselves Runners. We exist on the edge between the gloss and reality. The Mirror's Edge".

<--------------- Also, as is in my mini bio... Not from a game but Final Fantasy nonetheless. Sephiroth says to Cloud: お前の最も大切なものは?それを奪う喜びをくれないか?Which translates to something like: What about that which is most precious to you? Won't you give me the pleasure of taking it away from you?

I want to say that 'take' is not a good translation of 奪う because English hasn't got a good one-word equivalent of 'forcefully dispossess and thus leave you feel lacking'. We should get on that.

@RayCarter: Watch the Quick Look of Far Cry 3.
It's really a mix of both the lines and the delivery when it comes to Vaas. Because he's that sort of person you don't wanna meet in a dark alley after looking at him wrong.

Quotes are in bold. The whole ending scene from Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. That whole scene is just fantastic.

"All right, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

-Cave Johnson, Portal 2

"Shave and a haircut!"

-Nathan Drake, Uncharted 2(?). Says that when he strategically shoots an enemy in the cranium.

"Do you know the definition of insanity?"

-Vaas, Far Cry 3

"Nothing is true. Everything is permitted."

-Assassin's Creed

"Would you kindly (touch my butt)."

-Frank Fontaine, Bioshock. Come on. We all know he wanted Jack to touch his butt.

"War. War never changes."

-Narrator, Fallout 3

"I've covered wars ya know."

-Frank West, Dead Rising. I think that's how it's said.

"Fucking shit fuck! I will fucking kill you bitch! Fuck you motherfucker!"

-James Heller, Prototype 2

I'm going to steal answer here:

"Identify yourself."

"Me? Who the hell are you?!"

"Captain Go-Fuck-Yourself!"

-Captain Walker, Spec Ops: The Line

Anything else from Spec Ops, especially the ending scene. Also, everything from Portal 2.

From Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes (It's important to note that this game is known for having the worst voice-acting in anything ever):

Prince Logan: "I hereby order you to release all of the prisoners from the camp!"

The Commander: "I hereby order you to la de da da."

It's so bad, and yet so ironically delightful.

-Mass Effect 1

Sly retelling a story that basically describes the plan of the enemy in Anachronox but also adds in that the guy telling him the plan was saying how great he was. The camera pans back to his group all staring at him blankly. He responds, "Ok, so I made some of that up."

-Anachronox

Former partner of Sly's, who is a private investigator, is now working in the redlight district of Anachronox and is dressing the part. She says off hand, "Don't you think the look suits me?" Under his breath Sly replies, "Not even remotely."

Couldn't agree more, don't think I've ever been this captivated by a video game character, the delivery, the message, the craziness from that guy is just outstanding, while the rest of the game is really great, I find myself wanting to run into Vaas every time I do a story mission.

I personally enjoy this one from John Marston "Some trees flourish, others die. Some cattle grow strong, others are taken by wolves. Some men are born rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives. Ain't nothing fair. You know that." I'm sure I'm forgetting some quotes from Ratchet and Clank though,

Tidus (Final Fantasy X):

It's one of my favorite parts. Although I thought it was pretty good when in the first game Sly goes "Yeah, jump and press the circle button. I know."

“The body is but a vessel for the soul, a puppet which bends to the soul's tyranny. And lo, the body is not eternal, for it must feed on the flesh of others, lest it return to the dust from whence it came. Therefore must the soul deceive, despise and murder men.”

― A.J. Durai

Also pretty much anything Delita says at the tail end of Final Fantasy Tactics, or of course anything Albedo or Margulis says in Xenosaga.

Bulletstorm has a ridiculous number of quotable lines as well, though I like URADUMBTIT as a password.

#36 Posted by Liquidus (946 posts) -

@Breadfan: Hell yes, especially Max Payne 2 "The past is a gaping hole. You try to run from it, but the more you run, the deeper, more terrible it grows behind you, its edges yawning at your heels. Your only chance is to turn around and face it. But it's like looking down into the grave of your love, or kissing the mouth of a gun, a bullet trembling in its dark nest, ready to blow your head off."

"Look at you, hacker. A pathetic creature of meat and bone. Panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect immortal machine?"

- SHODAN - System Shock

"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope... Love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticule, and together, achieving a singular purpose against statistically long odds."

HK-47 - KOTOR 2

Two old standbys, but still two great quotes.

Yeah exactly!
I've done a few story missions now where he wasn't even mentioned and I almost stopped caring about the story at that point.
I know there's gonna be a point where I'm probably gonna have to kill him and then I will cry. But it's not just the spoken stuff but the little things inbetween too like clicking of the tongue or a little whistle when pointing to Grant in the opening scene while he's talking to you(Jason) it's so well done, all of him. I'm not sure all that's written though, clicking ot the tongue and a whistle and all the other insane stuff has to be him just ad-libbing stuff, I'm sure of it.
I could be wrong and if I am that's great too because that just means the one who wrote that character is a mad genius.
Vaas without the tiny things too would probably be a real bummer.

I should stop babbling and just play more of it and go shoot my friends(God, I wish) and marry Vaas.
Vaas and Jason lives happily efter after and start in their own Spin Off game that's like a Buddy Cop movie, but from the other side of things.
Buddy bad guys

"Time vill tell," "sooner or later, time vill tell" - Einstein, Red Alert intro, after killing Hitler via time travel

The sombre way it's delivered is great, as well as Einstein winding his watch. Then the awesomesauce that is Hell March starts.

Pretty much anything digitally uttered from Mr. Zurkon's killhole.  Here are some choice examples:

"Mr. Zurkon does not need bolts. His currency is pain!"
"Death is too stupid for Mr. Zurkon."
"I shall let you live little alien...psych! Mr. Zurkon lives only to kill."
"Mr. Zurkon conducts a symphony of pain."
"You used to be alive, then you met Mr Zurkon."
"Mr. Zurkon requires no nanotech to survive. Mr. Zurkon lives on fear!"
"Killing stuff is so much fun do da do da Zurkon kills them all day long all the do da day."
