I don't play RPG's. And you know why? I don't much care for Sci-Fi or Fantasy, but it seems that almost all RPG's fit under one of those settings. The only game from this genre I have played was Mass Effect 2. It was a great game and I loved the leveling up, choices in dialogue and how stuff I did affected the story, but I didn't care much for anything that was going on because I just am not a fan of Sci-Fi. Can you guys recommend me a non-Sci-Fi/Fantasy RPG and a good one? Alpha Protocol is the only one I know, but from what I've heard it's not good.
I'm looking for an RPG which isn't Fantasy or Sci-Fi
Are vampires considered fantasy? i've been playing Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines and i'm having a blast with it.
Hrm. You could try:
The Games Already mentioned +
The SMT series as a whole (some science fiction elements, but a very unique style across the board)
The Penny Arcade Games (On the Rain Slick Precipice...blah-blah-blah) - They're sorta RPGs in a way.
This is incredibly hard because Fantasy means thousands of things (I think you mean high fantasy anyways), you're too insular with your video games sorry to say - you're not going to find a lot of games in the genre unless you like Fantasy or sci-fi. Oh, and if you loved the choice in ME2 go play both Witcher games. Screw the elves and dwarves and shit, those games include some of the biggest choices in video games and have incredible atmosphere.
Catherine
You have some serious miscalculations as to what Catherine is. It's more like IQ than Baldur's Gate.
Vampire - The Masquerade without a doubt.
earthbound is what first though of, bu that games old. the setting is different then the usual though.

I really hoping there is more to that game than pushing boxes around...
You might need to be a bit more specific. By non-fantasy, do you mean not anything supernatural, or do you just mean not something with a medieval setting? And by sci-fi, do you just mean something with a Star Trek or Star Wars setting, or a more "near future" setting like Fallout work for you?
I would concur with all suggestions of Persona, as long as you're not talking more specifically about Western style RPGs, which I'm thinking you may be since you referenced Mass Effect. And if by fantasy you mean high fantasy, like dragons and elves and things, yeah, you may be SOL on RPGs.
I'd suggest either Persona 3, Persona 4, Earthbound, or Mother 3 (Earthbound 2, but only available in english through a translation patch and emulator),
Not many RPG that aren't Fantasy or SF, but even though this one may fall in a category, I recommend Valkyria Chronicles - even though it's set in a different world, it feels like it could be anywhere really. Tough, but excellent gameplay too. That said, might be more RTS than RPG. Still, ya should check it out.
OT, almost all of the Mario & Luigi RPG and Paper Mario games are good, if not great.

Alpha Protocol gets a bad rap but if you give it a chance it gives a lot back.
It deserves the rep it has. I'll admit there are some fantastic parts in the game but the shitty parts are as shitty as the great parts are great. If you can look past the shitty parts you might like it but it's a real chore to actually play the game at times.
persona, the world ends with you, final fantasy viii or x, shin megami tensei devil survivor, i mean all have elements of both fantasy and sci fi but I think all of these games fall somewhere in between
Fallout is Sci-Fi guys....What he said.
On topic, it's very hard to find an RPG like that. Almost every RPG on the market is either Sci-fi or fantasy. I'd recommend renting some Sci-Fi and fantasy RPGS and just trying them. Who knows, maybe you'll learn to love those type of games.
@ryanwho: Depends on the OP's description of "Fantasy". Could be they only dislike the medieval setting rather than supernatural shit. Unless the OP gets into the nitty gritty of it we can only make assumptions. OT, almost all of the Mario & Luigi RPG and Paper Mario games are good, if not great. That's why Valkyria Chronicles is a good choice, because it's set in 1930-40, but in an alternate world of Earth. It's basically an alternate history of Nazis VS Allies.
The Mother series is all I can think of.
Curse all you people talking about Bloodlines. I may end up throwing that game back into my PC yet again.
Maybe the Yakuza games would count? I've never really played them, but, I sort of remember from the quick looks and demo's I have played there being maybe a little touch of RPG elements in the games, but, maybe not enough for them to really count.
edit: maaaaybe the Ultimate Alliance games? If you're into super heroes? those are kind of RPG action games.
How is it that someone doesn't like fantasy or sci-fi? What? You can't relate to something if it isn't happening on earth, today, realistically? All that stuff is too nerdy for you or something?
I mean, I understand someone not liking adventure games or action movies, or epic high fantasy like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, but to completely condemn anything not based entirely in reality is ridiculous.
