Games are great, I love games, as do most of you. For the past few months there has been nothing, and I am really looking forward to there being games again. I just looked at the release calendar and bloody hell! There is a bunch of games that I want that are all coming out around a similar time, some of these games I am going to spend a whole bunch of time on such as MW3 and Skyrim. I am starting to get scared that I am not going to have enough time to play them all, so many games!
Is anybody else getting scared of the upcoming game calendar?
Yeah I know what you mean. Once skyrim is out I'm gonna end up dropping everything else for like two or three months. Then mass effect 3 will be around the corner. Ahhhhhh!!!!
Nope. There's always another drought on the horizon that you can save them for. Plus, I've already got a pile of shame about 200 games tall. What's another handful? Anyway, of the twelve to fifteen games I plan to by between September 1st to January 1st, several are multiplayer and will just be played whenever I feel like it and I'll probably beat at least half of the remaining the week they come out.
That said, would have been nice if they'd been releasing some of them over the past two months. I mean, I've had money I'd have happily spent in June, July, and August . . . but I guess they didn't want it.
I'm getting at least Batman, Asassin's Creed, and Mass Effect 3. I'm gonna try for Uncharted 3. New IP's i don't get excited for until like a week before they come out.
Yup. This is a good problem. I've pre-ordered Dark Souls, and after that I'll have to chose one more. Maybe AC: Revelations, Battlefield 3, Batman Arkham City, or Skyrim. I have a really busy semester of school ahead and a baby coming in November, so any more than that and I just won't have time. The rest can wait, and that way I can pick them up on the cheap in 6 months :)
I'm probably only going to be able to get about 3 or so games this fall due to money/time issues. Which means I'm going to have a pretty good backlog of games to play once I get the chance to.

I have to manage a budget (I'm a college student) which is why the upcoming calendar scares me
Not really. There's plenty of amazing games coming out, but I really only have my eye on two right now, Dark Souls and Saints Row the Third.
My list is pretty much down to Mass Effect 3 at this point, so I'm going to chillax and watch the internet go bananas.
I started pre-ordering a few months ago so I wouldn't feel like I was spending so much money at once. As for time, some games simply take precedence over others. I'll hold off on Skyrim until after I've finished Uncharted 3, because I can finish Uncharted in a couple days, then dedicate a month or two to Elder Scrolls.
I preordered these games so far.... Deus Ex: HR Gears 3 Uncharted 3 Battlefield 3 Skyrim Assassin's Creed Revelations I want to add Dark Souls but will have a hard time finding time to play it with everything else i got ordered so far.You might want to just go ahead and pre-order Dark Souls anyway. Pre-ordering automatically bumps you up to the Collector's Edition, which actually looks decent, for the same price as the standard version.
Yeah, I always end up having a huge backlog. I'll probably only buy one more new game for the rest of this year and so far, it looks like Saints Row The Third.
Assassins Creed, Deus Ex, Skyrim, and Batman all look really good. And Mass Effect 3 is a must purchase when it comes out next year.
I still have to beat Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
I've made the controversial decision (in my own head) to have Skyrim be the game that I push back into the drought months. Why? Because AC: R, Batman AC, Battlefield 3, Deus Ex: HR, and Halo Anniversary (yeah that's right it's on my list) are all games that are short enough to be fully enjoyed in a shorter time frame. They can all fit into a schedule. Skyrim is simply too big to fit, and I would rather spend a lot of care free time cruising through that game than worrying about balancing some scale. In fact, I'll probably buy it after I buy Mass Effect 3.
Edit: I forgot about Rage, which actually means that it's going to end up waiting the longest. I'll probably not play it until well into next year.
Not really....There's only about 3-4 games at the moment that are going to be must buys...Batman AC, Saint's Row 3, Rage, and Starfox 64 3DS(cause I need a 3DS game already). All of these games have 2-4 weeks between them so a lot of time to beat them and what not AC:Revelations could be added to that list but I need to see a couple reviews before that happens. I currently no longer have a working blu-ray drive on my PS3 so I can't play Uncharted 3 or Resistance 3(though that may change in the coming months).
I'm gonna try to not buy a whole bunch of games....... but what am I sayin I am anyways! Good thing Vita is next year now!
If you don't buy them all at launch, it's really not too bad. I'm only planning to pick up Uncharted 3 and Batman: AC.
Not really, I only plan on buying Battlefield 3, all the others are up in the air.
I will get around to Revelations eventually and I might try Skyrim, so long as it's not as clunky as Oblivion. I hated that game...
I think the game industry is pretty retarded to release everything at the same time, they don't seem to understand it's actually hurting their sales. Many people are only going to buy a few of the games at the most so later on in the future they will probably end up buying the same games second hand giving the publishers and developers no profit. It's really quite ridiculous.
What I really don't get is why lesser known/anticipated games are being released in the same hectic window, what do they hope to achieve? I think a lot of games would benefit from increased sales if they came out during the traditional gaming drought months. (June, July, August)
You should be more worried about the Mayan Calendar... Just kidding, but yeah, since I don't truly enjoy spending all that much money, I am going to buy Uncharted 3, and then the MGS Collection.
since i already have Skyrim, Rage, Deus Ex and Space Marine fully paid, i only have about 2 or 3 games i want to buy at full price this year. Batman (for sure), and maybe L.A Noire for PC (didnt play on consoles) and Ass Creed Rev (which will probably get delayed on PC as usual). I gave no interest in BF3 or MW3 at full price since I dont play multiplayer, Driver, Dead Island and Saints Row 3 are all games i would only get on a steam sale, and Uncharted 3 and Gears 3, as amazing as those are im sure, i havent touched my consoles in months, nor do I intend to any time soon (my 360 isnt even plugged in), so ill save those for whenever im in a console mood again, when they are cheaper.
This year does not seem too bad for that. Most of the games coming out in the next few months are big budget sequals. This summer we had Catherine, Shadows of the Damned and El Shaddai. Seems publishers are catching on.
