PREDICTIONS THREAD!

Hey guys,

I thought it might be fun if we made a 'time capsule' thread of sorts where you can all put your wacky gaming predictions and see if any of them come true!

I'll start.

• Half Life 3 will ship in 2013.
• The OUYA will miss its scheduled release date of March 2013.
• Peter Moore will become the new CEO of EA in 2013.
• Matthew Rorie will join the Giant Bomb team in 2013.

Those are the first ones I could think of! Let's see what you guys have?

Wii U will be a complete and utter failure and will be Nintendo's last console. Hope it doesn't come true.

Just saw that the new Madden for WiiU is a gimped version without franchise mode and the new real time physiscs. So much for a hardcore console.

Guild Wars 2 will be Game of The Year 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

I predict that this thread will be full of stupidity. Also that we will hear about persona 5 next year and it will be a launch game for the xbox4000

The games made because of The Hobbit trilogy will suck ass. With the exception of one, which was kinda decent.

Mass Effect: First Contact announced late 2013 with release date of late 2014 which will be delayed to early 2015.

prediction: no matter how good guild wars 2 is, a significant number of people will still complain that it isn't as good as it was hyped up to be

conversely, it could be a complete bomb and some people would still consider it equivalent to the second coming

Persona 5 will only share broad Persona-y themes with the previous games; it will have nothing to do with previous Persona games in terms of gameplay, story, aesthetic, etc.

• AMC will start another great show
• Arc Systems will partner with them
• We get a Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, ________ fighting game. Herschel will be overpowered.
• Tell Tale will make a Breaking Bad game, please.

Xbox 8 will be the number one selling console in the next generation.

• WiiU will fail to capture the hardcore or softdcore audiences, and will be totally crushed into insignificance when Drango and the Orbis are released.   
 
• For the next Playstation console a membership will be necessary to use online services. 
 
• Online multiplayer will only be supported for 2 years after the release of next gen consoles, it will then be up to the publishers to decide whether to keep them alive. 
 
• People will hate/bitch at EA 
 
• People will hate/bitch at Activision 
 
• Star Wars 113  will be a next gen launch title, it will receive good reviews for it's visuals but will ultimately have a poorly executed story and dull gameplay. 
 
• The most exciting thing about the new consoles will be the revamped indie game section, now know as the Downloadable Games Section or DL ZONE on PS3 and Instant Lounge on XBLA, it will be something akin to the steam we love today. 
 
• Assassin's Creed 3 will be a great game but the ending will piss people off as it will not give a definitive/satisfying ending.
 
• GTA V will be delayed. 
 
• Watch Dogs will be released on current gen and next gen systems, the online features will be confusing and half baked.  
 
• Microsoft will dump Microsoft points for the next gen system. 
 
• Social connections as seen in EA titles such as Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit will be a common feature in many games. 
 
• Free to play games will make there way onto consoles. 
 
• the first console MMO will be a flop, it will also be the first free to play game on a console. 
 
• A mic will come bundled with the next gen Sony console. 
 
• The next gen consoles will be very similar in specs but however one will be much smaller than the other. 
 
• Blu-ray drives will be in both next gen consoles. 
 
• Brad Shoemaker will be the first person to leave Giantbomb (Technically the first will be Drew, but he's not main staff.) 
 
• Giantbomb will try to have a next generation replace them, lead by Patrick, however these guys won't be well received and the site will lose many members. 
 
• Microsoft will have a system in place for next gen consoles that "Dedicated"  Xbox 360 gamers, based on their years with XBLA Gold, will get certain loyalty rewards. Such as free year of Xbox Live and if they recommend a friend they will also get a free year.  
 
• Achievements and trophies will carry over, achievements 2.0 will be revealed where you now unlock rewards such as a day of xbox live, group achievements will also be a thing where a critical mass of people have to work together in order to unlock it. Some achievements, called Team-Chievements will allow you to select specific people from your friends list to work together with.
 
• Home will not be on the next Sony console, however there will be a Home themed area where you can be the first to get your (virtual) hands on it. 

The Xbox Next will suffer from Firmware troubles that render save games corrupt and unusable across all games... Except the pack-in arcade title.

The Wii U will be a failure.

The OYUA will be a failure.

Kinect will continue to be failure.

Half-Life 3 won't be released in 2013.

Blizzard's Titan MMO will be revealed to be a new IP that seems eerily familiar to Starcraft and will be a free-to-play first-person-shooter MMO.

Sony will require you to pay for access to online play on their next console, like the Xbox LIVE Gold memberships are now.

People will still be releasing their rage on forums against Call of Duty, Activision, EA, Bioware, and many others.

Respawn Entertainments game will be extremely similar to a Call of Duty game but will be released under the Medal of Honor or Battlefield name (actually I could totally see EA doing that...)

-People will be baffled that there aren't very many games to play on the new consoles (again)

-Wii U will outperform the enthusiast press' expectations

-Dragon Age 3 will not be a bad game, but people will still hate it (myself included)

-Tony Hawk will receive a short 2-3 year resurgence until Activision grinds it into dust again

-Sony's new console will be more focused on hardcore gaming than Microsoft's, but this will actually hurt sales

-In 3 years people will start sounding the PC death knell again

-Jeff will hate The Last of Us

-The Last Guardian will come out, but people won't like it very much

-Final Fantasy Versus 13 will be bad.

-Dead Space 3 will sell well and receive positive reviews

-There will never be a pure Desmond Assassin's Creed

-Nintendo will not release a new IP on Wii U

-At least one of the new consoles will be announced before e3 2013 so that they can have more buzz going into the press conference

-Whichever company the preceding prediction is will "lose" e3 because everyone already knew their surprise

-Titan won't reinvigorate the genre

-Sony's new console will be $500

-Persona 5 will not be out in the U.S. until the new consoles have launched.

PSO? FFXI? DCUO? There have been MMOs on consoles for years. Unless you mean an MMO that is console exclusive. I don't know why a developer would do that though.

I predict the Z button on Xbox controllers!

Bioware will cease being a brand that EA sticks on new games in 2014 (I love them, but they just seem to be starting down the path that so many studio names have traveled in the past)

• Torchlight 2 will not launch in 2012
• Firefall will either never release or be a huge flop

Man, I really don't want a Mass Effect game based on the First Contact War, it sounds a little too "Halo". Plus Turians are awesome. I want a Deus Ex-style adventure where you play as Garrus in his C-Sec days.

Anyway;

• The Wii U will sell better than expected out of the gate, look reasonably strong by next E3, and then be completely dead within the following year.

• At the end of Halo 4, the Chief will remove his helmet. Turns out it was Samus all along.
• A hot new app 'Kill Something' will launch on iOS, Android and WP8 late this year. It will both be the fastest-selling entertainment product of all time and the cause of the apocalypse.

Half-Life episode 3 will be an end-of-2013 release and the first information wave will start at around april next year. The biggest chocker comes in september of 2013 where gamers everywhere gasp as a trailer for the game seems to feature Gordon with regenerating health and dynamic difficulty originally based on Left 4 Dead technology. We can expect to play it closing in on the 2014 holidays. The next piece of skyrim DLC is announced in january of 2013 after two major patches, and will be released by the end of the year as an Xbox 360 1 month exclusive, with PS3 players getting to play it in 2014. Shadow Warrior 2 is, supposedly, and jokingly announced on april 1st, but returns at E3 with a playable build. Blizzard announces the next WoW expansion some time in 2014, but does not announce it at blizzcon.

Xbox 8 will be the number one selling console in the next generation.

Call of duty lasts another 2 to 3 games before being retired.

The WiiU will perform in a mediocre way and will be quickly forgotten and replaced with a new Nintendo console within 2 to 3 years.

The VITA will die soon, and Sony will stop making Portables. Which would be a damn shame as the Vita is an excellent piece of hardware.

The New Xbox will do well, but the Kinect will continue to be only useful for very specific games for a long while yet.

The PS4 will probably do well and have motion based controllers from the start.

Sony will get called out for all its downright copying of Nintendo (Move, Smash Bros) and eventually crumbles into nothingness, even its exclusive franchises are never used again since no one likes a copycat.

Yeah I remember reading this a while ago and it made me chuckle at the eternal wishful optimism of gamers. Maybe we should send it in to Valve to show them how they have dashed our expectations and broken our little hearts...

A sequel to will be released; people will be upset that it's dissimilar to the original.

In 2014 a plane crash ends up killing several top Sony executives, the ensuing confusion over company leadership leads to Jerry Lambert accidentally being elected the new company CEO.

Lambert is later quoted saying "It was a pretty sweet deal".
