oh and i picked gears cuz shooting while moving is 100% win. i think rez evil only wins by graphics but then again the graphics styles are different so its hard 2 compare but i still prefer gears overall
dude if they were the same why bother comparing them? theyr both 3rd person shooters and both have co-op and gameplay wise are similar in a lot of ways, and if they were similar story and setting-wise that would be COPYING 1 ANOTHER
The two games are of incomparably different style, gameplay, everything, and simply asking people which they prefer serves no purpose other than to start a flamewar. So this thread is pointless.

tbh its very simple if u dont like this poll then dont go on it its pretty simple :/ if u have a better idea for a post then why dont you make one nobody forbids you i just started this thread cuz lots of people think theyr similar and argue which ones better so im wondering what the gbomb community thinks
The 'gbomb' community would rather not argue over something so trivial. That's what I think at least. I'm just pointing out that we don't want flamebait-ey posts around here.
There's at least 5 "something" vs "something else" threads a day here, I don't know about the rest of the community but i'm sick of them. They are pointless and just cause arguments.
I really think we should just throw up a poll comparing Matrix Online to Metal Gear Solid 4. They're so similar: you both control a character, have comparable game mechanics (walking, engaging in battle, flipping over cars), and so on. I think Matrix Online is winning in the graphics department, though.

To actually try and be serious in this thread: I think Resident Evil 5 captures my attention in a way that Gears doesn't. Resident Evil makes me want to replay it again and again to unlock everything I can which is really surprising because I am generally not the type of person to do that. Both are good games, but I would have to give the nod to Resident Evil just as the game I would be most likely to play more.
To different to really chose. GOW2 is a stronger Multilayer game, but RE5 really has a great co-op experience were your really working together. Any fan that likes one should buy the other..
What the hell are people talking about, these games are pretty damn similar. Same level progression(get to an area, kill all enemies, door opens), same gameplay(third person, over the shoulder shooting, cover systems), similar settings(destroyed world overrun with monsters). The only real different is Chris seems to be incapable of moving and doing anything else, maybe all the steroids ruined his motor functions, and RE has more of an unlock weapon system. Other then those little things the core game play mechanics are essentially the same.
These games are more similar then you guys are letting on.

And the gamplay, and the main progression mechanic and similar settings.
GoW2 and RE5 is a better comparisons then RE1 and RE5.
