Sure, I dig this idea but:
Not before Alcohol
and not without movies.

It's ok. Once our generation is in power we'll be raging against the evils of "Space Chems" and "Holodecks" and try to pass legislation that bans those things.
Yo, why you carrying a Gamespot avatar? You gonna get stabbed round these parts...
It's my ironic hipster way of making fun of how much people overreacted with the merger. Give me a few days and I'll be back to my old one.
I can only pray for your safety for these next few days. Keep strong, brother.
Religion can cause violence in extremists, are they going to put the label on the bible/qur'an/all holy texts?

You think you can come into our hood flying those colors? Me and my boyz got something to say about that.

They should have labels. The labels should read "Hey parents, raise your own children and stop asking the government to do your jobs. For more info, please see ratings label"
This. This so much. Putting the proposed labels on any video games will not attract any more attention than the ratings that are already found on them. It's the parents responsibility to know what their child is playing and to teach them right from wrong. Our government should not have to do that. They're obviously too incompetent to keep the country from going to hell in a hand-basket (aka their job), so they shouldn't be needlessly distracted by this sort of inanity.

Why stop at video games? What about movies, youtube, the internet?
...or anything for that matter.
Also, I've said this before, but with all the shit wrong with the world today, how is it people still find it logical to push this anti-video game agenda? It makes no fucking sense. There are much, much bigger issues they could spend their time fighting for, but they're going after all these 'issues' that aren't actually issues.
Arizona is going to let doctors lie to women. Politicians will realize they have more important things to worry about than video games.
I played some pretty darn violent games as a young child, but I have not been desensitized to real violence at all. I've never gotten into a physical altercation in my entire life. Hell, my absolute worst dreams are the ones where I'm forced into violence, and even then it's always in self defense.
this isnt new i seem to recall this came up before :/
maybe it was jus tthe california legislatureit
it wont pass
This is great because:
Cigarettes= popularity= intimacy
and if
videogames=cigarettes
therefore
videogames= intimacy
WINNING!! More punani for me suckas!!
We're having a new law introduced in the UK which requires you to not show tobacco if you have a store over a certain size. We going to block off games from view next?
I wouldn't worry about this, it will get shut down just like all the others ones they have tried to pass. They try to cover way to much and not just the material that would make sense for this label to go on. Under this bill games like Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster would require a label, and thats just stupid
Foolish laws being written by foolish old men who don't know any better. There has not been any conclusive studies on the long term affects of violence towards children. There is violence in every medium: literature, movies, and music. Turn on the news on the TV. The leading story are incidents of violence and human suffering. The ESRB does what it can but it can not fix the stupid in people. Old politicians who don't understand modern technology. They look for a quick fix to society's problems and avoid more important issues.
Damnnit. I never knew. All of those friends and family I've affected by second hand video game over the years. I am a terrible person.
Good, anything to keep kids from consuming material beyond their maturity range.
I have always been an advocate of stopping underage children from buying mature games, it helps keep the industry healthy and out of scrutiny.
The research that backs the bill is always super flimsy. Taxpayers need to voice their anger about their money going to matters like this when there are other more pressing ones.
Real tired of government officials thinking that merely slapping a warning on every box(almost every box based on the rating) rather than look towards ways to provide resources that can educate buyers. Stupid old fucks, the lot of em.
