You know..... you wrote your name in some sort of black sharpie like pen on the back of game cartridges. I never did and I kind of hated those who did.
Were you one of those kids with their name's on their games?
I bought my copy of Mario 64 second hand and it has some dude's name on it like that. Should probably try and find another copy. :(
I never made a habit of it, but I did recently find my copy of Pokemon Red with my name on it. Feels weird to see 10-year-old me's handwriting.
I just bought a used copy of Tomb Raider: Legend a few weeks ago and the name "Christopher" was written in black sharpie inside the case. Who does that anymore?
I never wrote my name on them, but I did write the names of the game on top of the N64 cartridge. I kept them all in a tupperware box, stacked face-to-face. The only way to tell which game was which was to actually take them out one by one and search for the one you wanted. So i put a piece of masking tape on the tops and wrote the names of the games on them. Problem solved.
Hah, I completely forgot about that. I didn't do it myself, but I do remember an instance where I ended up with a used copy of some SNES game that had my friend's name written on it. I guess we should have just traded.
Nope. I never lent my games to people so I never had a need to. I remember it used to drive me fucking nuts though when I would rent games, becasue the video store always took a knife and carved their store name in the case.
Nope. Never put my name on games. But I did label memory cards with my name, and a range of letters, as I had alphabetized my save files and placed each file in the memory card labeled with the range the save's game title fell into. If memory cards were still commonly used with modern consoles, I'd probably still do this.
My sister and I both had Gameboy Colors that came with Pokemon Yellow so we both put our names on our copies of the game and are Gameboys.
I'll do you one better. One day I decided that the grey cartridges of my N64 games were pretty boring-looking and I thought they would look pretty cool if they were black. So I took a sharpie and colored all of my N64 games black. I have come to realize that was the stupidest thing I could have ever done with my games and every time I see them I just hang my head in shame at what I had done. I never wrote my name on them though. I did, however, write my name on my SNES games along with the prices I wanted to sell them for at the yard sale that I never had (I still have the games). I have had some major failures with games over the years, but lessons have certainly been learned.
