It's a tie between Devil Survivor 2 and Fez.
I still have to play The Witcher 2 and Xenoblade before I make up my mind though

Good question, my favorite critical game, like GOTY would be Journey. My favorite game that have sunk a ton of time into and play non-stop would probably either be ME3(at around 30 hours) or Shoot Many Robots(at around 28 hours). But Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 are coming out this year so one of those will probably my GOTY overall. If nothing else it will prob end up being Bioshock Infinite.
Other than it's completely uninteresting, generic and the combat is bland?Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, without question. It blends the first Fable and the Elder Scrolls, what's not to like?
that's explains your "fun" statement from before.Journey hands down. Fez and Skullgirls tied for second.

After getting Xenoblade working on Dolphin, I'm having a surprisingly good time playing it. It's been a while since I could say that about a JRPG.
I just did that as well, you tried out the HD texture pack yet?
Maybe you could make this thread after the first half of the year. It really discriminates against us non-time-travelling folks :(
Anyway, Legend of Grimrock is a fantastic game <3

Wow, I didn't even know that existed. I just set it up, it's pretty nice, I like the ability to change the buttons to match a DS3 or 360 pad. It took some work getting it to work on my NTSC copy though. I had to change all the SX4P01 to SX4E01. But there's software that does that.
Agreed, I'm waiting till more games come out. But as of right now, the only 2012 game I've played is UFC Undisputed 3 and that's pretty fun!We still have May and June to go through.
Now that I've played it a bit, The Witcher 2 is my favorite game of the year so far. I know it came out last year but I'm just now getting to it on the 360. I fucking love it.
diablo 3. i know its not out but it still got my vote

@Chris_Woods said:I really want to play that but damn it's still 60 bucks.Asura's Wrath, of all things. I agree with people who claim it only barely qualifies as a game, and I can understand people feeling 60 is too much for what you get, but I think it's amazing.
its worth it
Wow I haven't really played that many new games, I've mostly just been trying to catch up on the stuff I have missed. As far as 2012 releases, I think Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack has been my favorite.
Fez by a long shot because I love Fez on so many levels. Except the level where I lost my save most of the way done, but I'm willing to forgive it because I love it.
Had Fez merely met my expectations and had just been pretty damn good I'd have said Syndicate because Syndicate is a ton of fun, however that is not the world we live in. Sorry Syndicate!
So far: Journey, easily. But there hasn't been a huge amount of releases yet, doing this again in July would make more sense.
Trials Evolution is out today and Diablo-frikken-3 is next month.
Seeing as I've only played three new games this year so far and of those games only finished one, I'll say that one, Mass Effect 3. Loved it. The others, SSX and Amalur, I quit playing after about 2 days, so they really didn't stand a chance. If you take games that came out last year into account as well, then Skyrim may just beat out ME3. I got into the mods about a month ago and have doubled my play time because of it.
No. 1 is Skullgirls. I haven't been impressed by a game like this in as long as I can remember. The music, the art, the feel of the characters, the roster, the awesome specials. Everything just feels like so much effort went into making it.
A close no. 2 is SSX. Much like OP said. I haven't that much genuine FUN with a game for a long time. I'd recommend it to anyone. Really came out of nowhere, also.
We're two months away from that time mark. But until now it's... Alan Wake on the PC. Too scared to finish it though :$
Kid Icarus Uprising. That game has so many good things going for it that it makes the complaints about the controls seem pretty insignificant (I used a cushion at home and my backpack on the bus and it was fine)
Intense action, Looks gorgeous, has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard in a game and is one of the funniest and most charming games I have ever played.
Must mention that Binary Domain is pretty damn fantastic also.
Right now it's a tie between Journey, Mass Effect 3 and Fez. Gonna pick up Witcher 2 and Xenoblade chronicles this weekend though.
I find myself still playing a lot of games from last year, mainly Battlefield 3 and Dark Souls. Also recently fell back down the Skyrim rabbit hole. =\
