What's the best multiplayer FPS from this list?

I am unqualified to answer this since I haven't played all of those shooters but battlefield 2 is pretty sick with a group of friends coordinating together.

Counter-Strike: Source, no question. That game is something special.

Without any Tribes, Quake, Doom or Unreal Tournament games I'm not even going to bother.

I've only played three of those games. I must not like FPSs very much.

In terms of balance it's probably CS. There's a reason it was/is so popular in esports. As for what I enjoyed playing the most, it's pretty much a tie between CoD4, Halo 3 and BFBC2.

Seriously shocked that BF2 is tired (at time of writing this) with Halo 3 and others, I would have thought it would be higher.  No tribes?

I think I've had the most fun with Bad Company 2, but I chose CS:Source. Like Jack268 said, there's a reason it has lasted this long.

Halo:CE for me it was the best.

In my opinion, Reach, but in general I just love me some Halo. Team Fortress 2 is pretty fantastic too.

Never been in to PC gaming too much, so haven't had the opportunity to try out CS, although from the sounds of it it's the most realistic thing going!

Went for BC2 in the end as it's by far the most realistic console shooter i've seen. But man I need to try CS

COD4.  I'm sixteen, so I only really have experience with online console games that came out in the past 5 years or so.

Counterstrike revolutionized the online gaming community. Also revolutionized gaming as a sport.

Battlefield2 did so much on a different level.

Competition wise CS wins. Fun wise BF2 wins.

GoldenEye isn't as amazing as it used to be, but goddamn was it ever fun sittin around with buddies in a living room, heckiling and laughing....as opposed to listening to 5 year olds call me a Noob, nigger and faggot every 5 seconds...

There isn't and there will never be a better FPS multiplayer than Counter Strike. This is the game in which skill actually matters.

Wow... the votes are a lot more spread out than I thought. I expected everything to be COD4 or its followups.

CS:S best infantry base game.
BF2  Best vehicle mp tactic teamwork base game.

I voted for BF2 though by map size player count teamwork It's also the first game on that list to have weapon unlocks and ranks.

CS 1.6 for PC (haven't played Source yet.. My steam account was hijacked and I just barely got it back after 5 years)

It's hard to say for consoles.. I'll go with Halo: Reach because it's a fun game when you have a decent amount of friends to party up with, and I've wasted a lot of time playing it.

Battlefield BC 2. What's up, no WaW or TF2, I'd still pick BFBC2 but come on.

I only play single-player parts and I like Battlefield Bad Company 2's adventure the best of the 8 games I've played from your list.

Halo 3 is the only shooter that's really stuck with me without any possible replacement in sight.

Timesplitters: Future Perfect

Out of all those I've gotten the most enjoyment out of Bad Company 2 and MW2.

It sucks that you didn't list Battlefield 1942 though, because that's the best of all :(

It depends on the context on which you base the question. If you're saying which is the best of all-time then I would go with Goldeneye however, if you want a game to play I would go with one of the CODs because they have a big online community and are good games.
