What is your opinion on the game?
My opinion on the game:
It is a very nice looking game. Over the top violence. Sometimes very silly. Awful dialogue with some poor voice actors. Poor story. Hilarious pre-rendered cut scenes. Some neat enemy ideas.
Good hack and slash/beat 'em up action. Sometimes poor platforming. Overwhelmingly repetitive.
Sometimes I feel like this game is one of those titles that tries very hard to be better than a movie. Because of that, it forgets to try harder at being a better game.
Actually, this is what I think of most of the series. And pretty much every other game coming out these days.
Your Opinion on God of War?
" Awful dialogue with some poor voice actors. Poor story."Shit, your standards are pretty damn high, aren't they? I've never played 3, but 1,2 and Chains of Olympus had pretty damn good stories and consistently above average voice acting. They must have completely changed that in 3 for you to say that.
I find them way too short and mindless, and I've thought so ever since I played the first one back when it launched and beat it in one day -_- I find the 3rd game is the worst though. If I were to rank them, it'd be 2,1,3. But still, that's not saying much because they're still short, mindless hack and slashers.
I also find that the series lives off it's reputation of being "badass". That is not enough to warrant me playing a game...
I guess I prefer DMC like games more. Mainly Just DMC and Bayonetta.

" @Emilio said:That's why I added SOME in the sentence. There are SOME very good voice actors in the game, but there are SOME others that are not very good." As long as a game has solid controls, I'm okay with whatever. Go play the first GoW and tell me that the dialogue in the game does not sound like its coming from a middle school play.

It's as good as beat-em-ups get. It's as good as Quick Time Events get. It's as violent as games get.
Everything the game is, it is to an extreme. Still, when I play it, no matter how mind-blowing it's Mythological Greece setting is, I can't seem to not find it a repetitive experience.
" @Emilio said:You liked the story in 2? It was so retarded it made me want to snap the disc in two, and the one in 3 was almost as bad. Really liked Chains of Olympus' story though... never played the first game, so I can't comment on that." Awful dialogue with some poor voice actors. To answer OP's question: Chains of Olympus is one of my favorite action games of all time, God of War II is okay, and God of War III is complete garbage. As I said, I haven't played the first game, so if you were specifically asking about that, I got nothing.
Oh snap, Quick time events, forgot about them.
They're not too bad in GoW but, It's certainly better then Conan.
Dude, about the whole "bad ass" thing... I know!
That is one of my problems with the series that I can't remove from my head. Even if I violently stab it with a fork. Then I just get dizzy and go to sleep...
BUT, yeah. I just can't help but giggle at how bad ass the game pretends to be.
Same with Dante's Inferno...
It's fun and cinematic and beautiful the first time. All other times, the unskippable cutscenes are almost deal-breakers. The gameplay, on the other hand, is the saving grace - deep and entertaining enough to endure the long-ass cutscenes.
