We all have them, a video game that we don't want anyone to know about. Lock your door, shut off the lights, put on headphones and keep the remote nearby just in case.
Mine usually are RPGs in general, with Final Fantasy leading the way. Very few of my friends respect Final Fantasy games and being seen playing a feminine boy with a large sword hanging out with some chick barely wearing clothes sometimes comes off wrong.
So what's yours?
Your Video Game Guilty Pleasure?
Starcraft and CoD4. I get too competitive and I used to end up wasting entire weekends with those damn games.
Not quite sure...maybe Bookworm Adventures...
Also, I have an urge to play Sonic Chronicles...I haven't played it yet, so I guess that it counts as a pre-emptive guilty pleasure =/
Well it used to be DDR/In The Groove for me, but that's back in the day when it was good and wasn't taken over by goth kids (at least in my area).
@Capum15: Sadly mine is Pokemon.
I'll take my kick when you would like so we can get it over with
Dynasty warriors series. Don't ask me why I like it but I do. I understand the game is pretty terrible but there is something about it that hooks me in. It's probably the hope that one day they turn that game into something really awesome. Kind of a shame that they are squandering a pretty awesome story. I dream of a Dynasty warriors with complex, visceral, and visually stunning combat. Until then, I'll play Dynasty warriors every once in a while and feel guilty about it afterward.
I still kinda enjoy Pokemon, and will probably get Heart Gold/Soul Silver eventually. Yes I am a sucker.
Yeah, I watched Dynasty Warriors get worse and worse, but I kept getting them with the hope that they would get better. Even though they didn't, I still found joy in mashing the square button (and occasionally the triangle button) while I slaughter hundreds of poor AI.

Hell, even the first few were somewhat deep. Yes it's very accessible to young people, but it's a lot different now than it used to be. With the introduction of IV's and EV's, natures and new abilities and moves the system's changed a huge amount and is fairly deep.
If you play against someone who has a level 70-80 team who has no legendaries but has put thought into the stats and build, against a team of legendary 100's without thought, you bet your ass the lower level's will win.
*sigh* Meh, screw it, I'm not going to change anyone's mind.
I love bad game demos. Outside of sports games, I will play any demo. I don't care how dumb the game is or how bad impressions have been. Xbox Live makes it so easy to download them I might as well give them a shot. It's not like on the PC where I have to worry about games leaving behind save data after uninstall, or even having to run an installer. I don't have to check specs or worry about rebinding keys when I get the game. I can just play. New demo on Live? Go!
And you know what? The worse the game, the better. If I'm really interested in a game and the demo confirms that I want it, great. If a game ends up garbage I can have some fun picking it apart without being bummed out about wasted effort or money.
I spent a whole week finding the perfect feebas with decent IV, correct nature and egg moves. Then I EV trained it, leveled it up to 50 and evolved it into the perfect Milotic. No remorse, that thing was a beauty.
There's not a particular game that's a guilty pleasure of mine but I feel a bit guilty for being such a huge powergamer. Especially in RPGs I often skip quite a bit of the story and spoil bits here and there by trying to min/max my characters. I think I googled most quest rewards in Fallout 3 because I just wanted the best stuff available. For most games I'll eventually look for a guide so I don't miss anything, possibly having to start a new game (Persona 3 comes to mind).
Eternal Ring. I love that damn game so much...but it's sooo full of jank and broken-ness that it's embarassing to watch, let alone play.
The trance vibrator. For those of you who don't know, this thing was a PS2 peripheral that came with the special edition of the music based rail shooter called "Rez". The controller pulsed in time with the music, and can be placed on your body to help you "feel the beat". It can also be used for other guilty pleasures... An updated "HD" version is available on XBLA, and awesomely, you can use your extra xbox controllers as "trance vibrators".
Oh the nerd shame!
One caveat. My gamer buddies are all frat boys and if word got out I played Pokemon I'd never hear the end of it.
Someday I'll kick the fighting game habit... each sequel adds so precious little, and yet there I am, throwing more money at it...
I guess I attempted to make my WoW playing as much of a secret as possible (or at least deemphasized how much I played it).
Nowadays I have no game that I am ashamed of. Not even Blood on the Sand.
"I swear if someone says Pokemon I'll kick them through the Internet. I don't think I have a "Guilty Pleasure" game, to be honest. At least none of my games get to the point where I'd hide myself to play them."
POKEMON! Seriously, playing platinum last night.
PROTIP: Name your rival Vagina. Epic lulz ensue.
- I am a sucker for excessive gore.
- I am also a sucker for casual games.
- I don't like Zelda very much, nor Metroid.
- I like to position the camera / control the character in a way that is cinematically pleasing, even though it might not always be the fastest / most efficiant style.
- If I could make video game developers portray women in a less retarded and sexualized fashion by paying them a huge amount of money, I would.
