4chan vs Giantbomb

well now that 4chan and tumblr have pretty much completely gang raped each other and crashed there websites, it got me to wonder what would happen if 4chan decided to attack GB? 
I know they've attempted taking on gamespot during the heroes and villians contests and ended up failing miserably, but Giantbomb is a much smaller site, and I truly am curious as to how well we would hold up against them.

I'm pretty sure they arn't going to "Attack" us, they go for the trendy sites and things they really dislike.
 
But they are Anon and if they did decide to do something like massive DDoS attack, it'd probably crash the site.

It wouldn't work very well, short of actual DDOSing. We're all, including the staff, too well versed in that side of the internet. Everyone would just go along with it, and the trolls would get bored.

Forgive my internet ignorance, but how could one website 'attack' another? Would they all just make a bunch of new spam accounts and flood the forums or something? Or are we talking about straight-up hacking?

ive been hearing things about 4chan and....  could someone explain to me what they do?  im too lazy to look it up hahaha

Giant Bomb would have to do something to piss them off, and I don't think they're about to.

Any website can be brought down by a DDOS attack if it is big enough (Google has been brought to it's knees in the past by attacks). So yes, Giant Bomb could be brought down by an attack. Could 4chan do it? I don't know enough about Giant Bomb's server capacities or 4chans botnets to come to a decent solution. But I don't really see any reason that they would want to do that. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

They don't normally attack websites at random. They attacked the Infinity Ward forums last year alongside the PC community, because it was an excuse to cause some more anarchy. I remember being in the middle of it all. The Modern Warfare 2 board was completely flooded with topics, and some of 4chan's members had found a way to loop Rick Astley and other crazy things in their forum posts. It was complete anarchy, and it ruined the IW forums for quite some time. There was some graphic imagery posted, some twisted, messed-up videos, and a whole ton more. It must have taken weeks before the moderators were finally clear of all the stuff they had done. If 4chan was to turn on this site, it'd probably just be forum flooding. If Anonymous were to turn on this site, I imagine they'd be going for a DDoS attack or exploiting some vulnerabilities in the site to completely ruin it. The main parts of 4chan likely would simply vandalise wiki pages and stuff that can easily be rectified. It is highly unlikely they would attack Giant Bomb though, as there is little reason for them to do so. They mainly target major sites, such as YouTube.

But as supermike said I can't really see them doing or saying anything to attract 4chan's attention.

okay fine I was an idiot for thinking a topic mentioning 4chan could go anywhere at all so mods just lock this please before things get out of hand. I dont want to be viewed as some form of a troll or spreading the name of that site 
oh and @rubberfluffy I know /v/ is a lot more tame then /b/ but the fact is they are going to get bumped together simply for being 2 parts of the same site.

Er, 4chan could easily do it. They've fried much bigger fish than Giant Bomb.
 
Also, as rubberluffy said, /b/ does not represent the entirety of 4chan. There's much entertainment to be had on that site if you know where to look.

I have never been on 4chan, and know very little on what goes on there. A forum where children create memes and bitch about stuff? I dunno, every time I read about 4chan it makes me want to know even less than I already do.

Sooooo, let me get this straight. The people of 4chan (if there even is such a thing, I dont believe in such myths and legends) are going to organize and stage a terrorist attack on the Whiskey Media offices? Is that what you are proposing? Otherwise, I dont really see what these people (that I dont believe exist) could possibly do (if they dont exist). I have almost no hope in humanity, but I refuse to believe there are people out their that visit 4chan seriously. I cant really grasp the concept of what 4chan even is, so I choose to think of it as something that was created to represent the pathetic state of our world's culture at this moment in time.

I'm constantly amazed at how the handful of people who actually know what they're doing in these raid scenarios are able to convince a tide of people to willingly break the law out of some kind of notion of loyalty to a website forum. Or at least that's the impression I get when I hear of these things happening which admittedly isn't often.
