I'm a guitarist, and I play a 76'? Mocha Strat, a Gibson SG, and I love them both.
I play a lot of 70's, 80's Metal, Surf Rock, and some other stuff.
Recently, I just learned the main riff of "The Metal" by Tenacious D.

Any other guitarists on GB?
And if sooo, what kind of stuff do you play?

13 years.  I'm alright at it, focus on rhythm mostly.  Own a '91 Ibanez Silver Cadet electric and an Alvarez acoustic.

I play guitar. I'm not a guitarist.

(based on the fact that guitarist would make it sound like I'm good at guitar)

I'm a pretty active musician in the richmond area. Guitar/Bass, been playing around 15 years right now. Both main electric guitar and bass rigs are custom Music Man setups, my acoustic guitars are sponsored Taylors.

I own a couple.  My tastes very greatly; I've got a modest set of effects that I enjoy experimenting with.  Lately I've been really into playing the whole "spaghetti western shootout" type sound; one I think I may very well have perfected :D

I used to play a lot, a long time ago, but now all my gear just collects dust. I don't have time for it.  Definitely wouldn't be time for games if I had to practice guitar. It's time-consuming.

I play guitar, I just have a little Epiphone SG. I prefer bass though and would gladly trade my guitar in for one. I just want to find one I really like. I've been playing for about 5 years. I actually find myself sitting down and picking out basslines on my guitar, so I knew it was a match made in heaven for me to have a bass.

Guitarist here.  Been playing for just about 8 years.  Did the whole college music thing, (graduated a year and a half ago) and now I'm just trying to focus on writing/recording and gettin' some gigs.  My main guitar is an 02 Mexi Deluxe Fat Strat.  Got it when I was 15 and it's still my favorite guitar, so go figure.  Gems like that guitar only come around every once in a while. Got a few others, though.  SG Supreme, Cort Larry Coryell Jazzbox, Taylor 414 and a couple others.

Stylistically, I'll play whatever anyone throws at me.  One of the benefits of being schooled, I guess is the ability to be thrown into practically any situation and be able to function pretty well.  Not to say that skill can't be learned on your own by any means... It's just a more... urgent learning situation so you have to adapt quickly.  What I prefer to play, though is Progressive Rock (old, new, whatever) and Jazz (again, old, new, fusion, whatever).

I play bass guitar, the axe is a piece of shit but I get sound of it and that's all that matters, been playing on and off for 8 years, in a band, recording some shit, bout it.  I mostly original material, haven't focused on covering other peoples material since I started to learn the bass.  Learned by ear, developed a neat style imo.  I'm all about improvisation, it'll usually be my best shit.  My likes are playing with good, flexible drummers who listen; dislikes are playing with metal heads.

HAHAHA, holy shit that looks horrible.  Good move changing it.  I have that generic ass build too, is it easy to change pic guards?  Will I accidentally fuck up any electronics in doing so?  Only thing I do with a bass is play it, tune it and change strings when necessary.

@Gregomasta: With mine i just hit it with some nice war hammer paint after removing it. I believe i may have broken it by taking it apart to quickly. So if the screws are easy to get at you can give it a try. If you dont want to just have the flat finish on the paint you can always throw a protective coat on it to make it shine and make sure the paint doesn't scrape off

@civvie: Hmm, gotcha, seems if I go slowly I can just pop in a new guard then.  Or deck out my current guard with some 1 color throw-ups.

@Gregomasta: if you are good you could paint anything you really want on it but you would need to put the protective layer on so you dont scrape it off or wear it down

I play guitar as well. Been going at it for 6 years or so. Currently I play a 07' Gibson LP studio, and a 94' Mexi Strat, and am in a prog band here in San Diego.  Music is life.

I play. 17 years now. Current axes include: Ibanez MTM1, ESP Eclipse II Custom, Fender American Telecaster, Ovation Balladeer, and a funny Yamaha RGX. Played in several deathcore/metalcore bands back in Japan, right now focusing on acoustic projects.

I have played guitar for almost 3 years now. I will not say that I'm good at it, but I know a few chords and scales. I haven't played much lately since one of my strings snapped and I've been too lazy to replace it.

Yeah I play guitar, I'm not very good at it but I enjoy it and have some basic knowledge of how stuff works haha :P. I mostly play Metal or rock and sometims other stuff, as I have a very varied musical taste. Examples of what I tend to play is the easier Machine Head, Lamb of God, Rammstein and so on.
