I did not really like the new Offspring's new album.
First goes to Indestructible by Disturbed and second goes to Viva La Vida by Coldplay.
Best Album of 2008
"Crystal Castles-Self TitledIt was just called Fleet Foxes. Self-titled. :) And it's amazing.
Hot Chip-Made In the Dark
Ratatat-LP3
She & Him-Volume 1
Portishead-Third
Fleet Foxes-I forget the name of their album
The single best thing to happen in music this year was My Bloody Valentine getting back together to tour.
"
Also, I forgot about LP3. Love it.
waiting for lax and the reformation but so far it would be the cool with the runner up being when life gives you lemons paint that shit gold
Even though it's not out yet....
"Even though it's not out yet....Load and Re-Load were horrible though.
<<<<<<<-------------------------------------------------- I'm pretty optimistic from what I've listened to in fly on the wall audio. Even if it sounds like Load and Re-Load I'll love it. "
The Offspring's new album is weak, IMO. I used to be a big fan (I own the pre-Smash stuff), but it feels like they're running out of ideas. They tried growing up a bit with their Rise and Fall, but it comes off as desperately trying to stay relevant.
Anyway, I'd have to say Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago is my album of the year withSigur Rós's Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust and/or Coldplay's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends coming in second.
"Avenged Sevenfold's Self titled album is easily the best rock n' roll CD to come in a long time. If you hanv't listed to it because you dont like their other stuff do your self a favor and open your mind a little and give her a listen.I really liked Avengeds old stuff, but their new album.. I don't think I've seen a band sell out so badly before.
"
Really, it's horrible at best.
1) My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade Is Dead!
2) Nine Inch Nails - The Slip
3) Weezer - Red
4) Racenteurs - Consolers of the Lonely
The Offspring's new album a terrible. I used to love the band, now I cannot stand them. Hammerhead is okay, but is way too long and the first minute sucks.
(New Green Day - Fun + Foo Fighters album name + Coldplay song title ripoff + Overproduction) - Punk = Rise, Fall, Rage and Grace. Fuck that album
"Even though it's not out yet....This is the worst post I have ever seen. I'm not sure about what's the best album this year, but I absolutely love Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard's TDK score so that's got to be one of the best.

Well, seeing as how I have yet to listen to every album that came out this year, I'm not sure that I'm qualified to answer that question. However, I can say that so far, I enjoyed The Red Album, by Weezer, and Accelerate, by REM.
And Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace was pretty good too.
"Thomas said:I vote the She & Him record too."Folk: She and Him - Volume 1"Awesome, ain't it?
Portishead's Third gets my vote.
"
"Isn't Slipknots new album coming out this month? It's pretty awesome by the way. They haven't gone soft and emo like other bands seem to have done.
I don't think it'll be good :\"
Its actually heavier in some places then the other albums. _b

"Aaron_G said:The album was pretty awesome, still "rush of blood to the head" is my favorite Coldplay."Coldplay - Viva La Vida "
THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"I have yet to hear an album this year better than Death Cab for Cutie's Narrow Stairs. Coldplay's Viva La Vida comes close. It's practically a toss-up. Both are great.
"
The honorable mentions go to Elephant Shell by Tokyo Police Club and Sigur Ros' new one... some really long Icelandic name... but whatever it is, it's good.
Indestructible-Disturbed or Rage Against the Machine's upcoming album even though I havent heard it yet if it comes out this year it will be amazing.
The Black Keys - Attack and Release
There hasn't been too many options for my listening pleasure this year, but there is a definitive favorite.
"Modern Guilt" by Beck.
Every song is a stunner.
Surely a different Beck sound, but he couldn't keep putting out Odelay. He's getting up there in years, and his sound is maturing.
It sounds more like a band now, than just Beck. It's a great album.
Listen to "Profanity Prayers" for a great song from the album.

"There hasn't been too many options for my listening pleasure this year, but there is a definitive favorite.I absolutely agree. I can't remember the last time I've heard an album that flows so effortlessly through the entire way. It feels like a whole rather than just singles strung together. At the same time I feel like it takes a slight hit from from having a sort of "sameness" to some of the songs. It's been awesome to see Beck back in form though. It was getting depressing watching him release mediocre after mediocre album. As a 90's kid it's good to see Beck making good music again.
