For those in the UK, who remembers Robot Wars?!

I certainly do. It was one of the greatest shows of my childhood (hey, I'm quite young). I would smile with glee every time the furry diotor set alight. And I am slightly scared that I still know that name. Craig Charles' one liners also topped it off. Who is with me, that shit needs to come back, right?

I remember watching it on CBC years ago here in Canada, and it being huge for a few years, but then it just kind of went away. It got a robotics competition started in my province that had most schools robotics clubs getting made and participating in it. Sadly it wasnt a cool kill other peoples robots kind of thing but a design a robot to do stuff in an obstacle course kind of thing. 
 
The whole event was pointless however, because one school had a kid who had a rich dad who would always buy them super expensive light weight material that was better then anything anyone else could realistically get a hold of and that made it impossible for any one else to compete.

Yeah I remember loving the first few series because the robots literaly had no chance whatsoever against the house robots and it was hilarious watching some kids stupid robot get destroyed but after a while the contestants got too serious and made robots that took out the house robots and that was no fun.
 
My favourite robot was Hypnodisk (maaaaan I dunno where I pulled that name from in my mind ahahah) and that stupid useless one that was just a regular remote control car inside a papier mashé ball. It was so useless but it was funny watching it fall apart.

Hypno Disc won every single fucking episode.

Matilda, Sgt Bash, Razor, Hypno Disc. Even the names are badass

i'm in America and i think i remember this...I only saw a few episodes, but I seem to remember a lot of talking up the matches that then didn't last that long...

Good times, shame that it died off. A was somewhat more of a fan of Battle Bots though, the host of Robot Wars was really odd. 

I loved that show. Jonathan Pearce is much better at commentating on robot fights than football.

The fact that the robots weren't allowed to have projectile weapons meant that it never really fulfilled its potential.  It was more like Robot Disagreement than Robot Wars.

I totally remember this show, actually me and my friends were talking about this on the Bus home the other day.

Oh I loved this show when I was younger, Sir Killalot was my favourite I believe. I really wanna watch Robot Wars now.

Yeah, it was all about razor, hypnodisc and beast of bodmin (which always sucked).

They've shown that in Germany too with some crappy german moderator.

We had Battlebots in the states...GOOD SHOW

I remember that, and I'm in America. When playing racers I say the [Robot Wars] countdown in my head, "3... 2... 1... Activate!" Then Battle Bots came, that was good too.

I used to wonder why people would cover their robot in fur, surely they knew it was going to get set on fire.

oh hell yeah. Me and my cousin each got replicas of matilda and sir killalot for chrismas. We would fight them to the death and it was awesome!!!

It was good because it came on after The Simpsons or maybe Fresh Prince on BBC Two. However, after about ten minutes, it did get a bit boring.

Yeah, it was awesome. Especially in the early days, because everything was completely new. In the first series, when someone flipped Cassius over, and it righted itself using it's flipper - that was amazing. By the end, all of the flipping robots were doing that, but Cassius was the first, and it was so exciting the first time it was done.

Mortis was my favourite. Technologically amazing, expensive to build (£50k+ iirc) but never won a single tournament.. 
 
Pretty much sums up us Brits in general tbh.

Who remembers the video game on PlayStation (and other platforms)? I really didn't like it.
