For me it's the 1990's. I've gotten quite a bit from the 60's lately, but the majority of my music is still Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, and things from that era.
From what decade do you own the most music?
90's because the 80's were too corny and the 60's and 70's were too happy. The 90's were full of melancholic, self-pitying alt-rock bands I love the shit out of them for it.
I'd say the 2000s. While I have a lot of music from the 90s and prior, there is so much good music out there right now. People always claim that music used to be better back in the old days but there are so many good bands and artists around right now! You just have to dig a little deeper and have friends who know a lot about music. And not "know a lot about music" in the hipster, douchebag way. Just friends who you can say "I really like post rock but I feel it needs some oomph" and then they suggest something. "I usually hate female singers but for some reason I like this one." and then they'd be like oh, have you heard so and so? She kind of has that same sound. It's great as long as it's done with the intent of getting good music out there so people know more about the artists, and not in a way to look down on others for not having heard of these artists yet.
90's and 2000's, but it's actually going to be the 10's (teens?) for me sometime in the next few years.
90s music is the best music.
And I took a peek at my music. It's a nearly even split, but there are a few more items from the 2000's. I had to vote that. I feel so dirty. I need more 90's in my life.

If you base the quality of music on what's in the charts then it looks like music is dying. If you actually go to gigs of non-manufactured bands/search and ask around, then there's so much brilliant music being made. Even though I like music from the 60's+, part of their popularity ("music used to be better back then") I think is due to nostalgia.
Unless you're not really into music and don't keep up with new releases, I don't see how it's possible to have more music from earlier decades. When you're grabbing old music, you're probably mostly if not only gonna be exposed to stuff people consider classics. If you keep up with music currently, you'll end up with the good and the bad.
