"How can i be a mod?
plz explain thanks!"
Oh, nothing. Now that you've asked, Giant Bomb staff will see your enthusiasm and your ability to ask questions, and they'll know that this combination of skills will set you above all of those wankers who actually did something for the community. You'll be able to wear that moderator badge with pride, just because you wanted the status and not because you saw a place in Giant Bomb that could be improved with your contribution.
Also, your English skills are fantastic!
...
Can anyone guess whether I've been a mod before?
Generally, mods are sought out. They're recognized for their time, efforts, abilities, etc. From my experience, the last thing I want is people begging me. It gets to be an annoyance. There's nothing wrong with letting it be known that'd you'd be interest. But you leave it there and wait until the next one is to be chosen. It's not good to have too many either.
"you have to sacrifice 23 virgins and 56 goats"You got it the other way around...its 56 virgins and 23 goats...after all goat milk is delicious.
"Vaxadrin said:nobody is going to go through your ritual dammit!"I don't want Solid SnakeXx to be a mod.

The best advice on how to become a mod is luck. Thats really how it is, you're either chosen or you aren't. Usually when moderators are needed those who are looking for them try to find a user who stands out or above the others for whatever reason. Begging people to choose you will immediately put you on the "do not choose" list as it comes across as needy and in past experience people who beg to become moderators tend to be very bad ones.
Its cool to let people know you're interested in becoming a mod, it gives us some potentials to review when it comes that time to pick more mods etc. But dropping a hint in ever blog or forum post you make will just put people off. Plus if you constantly PM current moderators asking how or why you haven't been chosen then all you will do is annoy them which further reduces you're chances.
A lot of people think being a moderator is something different to being a regular user, but that really couldn't be any less true. Mods are users too and we enjoy the same things the rest of the community does. However when things go wrong we get the flak and have to pick up the pieces. It can be tough work, but it can be rewarding work too.

You certainly don't make a topic and ask to become a moderator.

You have to be chosen by one of the almighty gods of the olympus and then take a sword out of a stone. Not easy stuff

You certainly don't make a topic and ask to become a moderator."Well i can understand why people make those topics because to become a moderator isn't like applying for a job. There isn't any set-in-stone criteria or application forms to fill out and some people don't realise it is all down to luck. As i told many people who PM'ed me when i became a mod, its all down to luck.

"Karmum said:Pretty much. I do have a feeling the TC actually made this topic just for fun, and not actually being serious. But I have had similar situations like this, where it does purely come down to luck, and you just have to make yourself stand out....not too much, though."Probably the best explanation, pretty good advice for anybody who would like to become a moderator in the future.
