You know, the kind of schlubby supporting actor who comes onto the scene out of nowhere, everybody is aware of them, but then starts getting some headlining roles, does like 14 movies in a row over the course of a year and blows up to become some comedy megastar.
He's all over the place now. The Hangover, that G-Force gerbils movie, and a new show on HBO. So, if the prophecy is true, who is our slimmed-down, Zack Galifanakis superhero five years from now??
Is Zack Galifinakis The Next Seth Rogen?
He's already better than Seth Rogen. Most people don't know that Zack Galifinakis studied under the tutelage of Randy Tutelage, I know better.
" @The_A_Drain: He was, ain't nowadays. "yeah, because as soon as you get popular enough so that mainstream crowds know who you are, then you always stop funny/cool.
I only think things are cool when nobody else knows about them because I'm edgy.

Or it could be, you know, because SmashedControllers and I (and other people) don't find him all that funny. Shock horror. I honestly can't think of any of his movies i've geniunely enjoyed other than 40yr Old Virgin, and that was mostly for Steve Carrel (who I actually find really funny) and some of the other people around Rogan.
Who fucking cares if he's popular? I don't have time to worry about shit like that, anyone who hates something simply because it's popular is a retard.
Zack has been known for a while. Seth had his stint on Freaks and Geeks and eventually blew up, but Zach has been funny has hell for a length of time. I am really happy for him and his new-found success. His stand-up and youtube stuff ( Between Two Ferns interviews) are so incredibly good.
God, I hope not. I feel I've been saturated in Seth Rogan (and Judd Apatow) for the last year or so, and would hope that Hollywood understands sometimes you can get too much of a good thing. I don't want to see Zack in a new project every month for the next year with all the media marketing hype that goes along with that. I'm not saying Zack can't work hard and often, just don't make me feel like around every corner is another movie or TV show that he's involved with.
The gravy is theirs!" I like him most on Tim and Eric, especially Gravy Robbers. "
Zach has been a comedian for ages and this role being in a Judd Apatow film just pushed him to where he could be seen by the general population. Have been a fan of his stand up for years and hope that it does boost his career and I see him in more films and thankfully due to his amazing beard he won't be the next dane cook.
I find Seth Rogen a modestly funny individual and a pretty good writer (or maybe it's Evan Goldberg doing all the work), but I am definitely finding that increasingly hard to now that his saturation point in the mainstream has reached critical mass. He has a new movie like every three months. The point of my creating this topic is that I see this kind of happening to Zack (who is overall a funnier individual) and I hope it does not because seeing him in one two may films would make me sick of him, no matter how funny he may be.
And for those who commented, I may have phrased part of my initial statement wrong. I know Zack Galifinakis is a well-known comedian before he started popping up in the mainstream... I like him a lot. But I just wanted to draw the point that they are both supporting actors who came out of relative obscurity, at least from a mainstream perspective (even though Zack is funnier and definitely more well-known before his latest "uprising" than Seth Rogen was at all), that Zack could blow up and almost become somewhat of an annoyance to see on a regular basis. Though I see that happening less with Galifinakis than has happened with Rogen.
Sorry for the long-winded comments about such a trivial subject. :)
Why does one have to replace the other?
Hollywood has had funny fat people for a long time.
I think it can handle two at once.
Zach has been around for a long time. He is just getting more mainstream exposure now. The Comedians of Comedy tour was great.
