I think he was just responding to people who were concerned for his safety. It is his personal twitter account after all, unlike Grasshopper and PlatinumGames who were using their companies' twitter accounts.

I, personally, like to imagine he had all of his coworkers and staff form a bulwark around him, and then lashed their bodies together into a ghoulish raft and made his way to safety that way. Possibly while envisioning an ever-out-of-reach black pirate ship on the horizon.

Yea, this. When I read the title, I didn't even think of the earthquake; Kojima's name made me ask what the hell happened to him that he's a special case.

I'd sit here and say that I hope the people of Japan are safe, but frankly, a 9.0 earthquake and tsunami just slammed their ass. They are far from okay right now, and it's getting worse. Instead, I hope that they can come back from this disaster, and more than anything, I hope they can get that nuclear reactor cooling system under control. I also hope that everyone in affected regions like California and Alaska, etc, are able to bounce back from the damages and casualties they will have.

I think Japan is a 1st world country, just because they're Asian doesn't mean they're 3rd world ;)
