Who the hell is Kreayshawn and why have I seen two or three threads about this person recently?

#3 Posted by laserbolts (5345 posts) -

Well I guess this gives me a little faith in humanity.

Female rapper from Oakland. She was mentioned on a couple Bombcasts because Ryan and Jeff enjoyed her.

#5 Posted by sf2733 (51 posts) -

Because Jeff and Ryan mentioned her like twice and all these drones on here started listening to her music.

#6 Posted by Demoskinos (15097 posts) -

Wow. Well that sucks. Gotta be depressing for her. She is far from being the best rapper but I like her. Her songs at dumb fun.

#7 Posted by Master_Funk (740 posts) -

Well outside of our little internet culture bubble, I dont think many people even know who she is, let alone the fact that she has an album coming out.

A bad musician who produces bad music had a bad album release?

You just blew my mind.

#9 Posted by SirPsychoSexy (1331 posts) -

3900, I feel like I could write some dumb shit and sell more than that.

Columbia gave her a million dollars and spent a fuckton on advertising.

This is a blank quote.

Apparently money doesn't write good music that people want to buy.

Oh I know. I'm just saying, they expected her to be gigantic based on youtube views. Bad music sells.

Wow. That's depressing. :/

I thought some place somewhere got bombed. So this news is okay with me.

#17 Posted by iAmJohn (6131 posts) -

Still would like to know what Jeff and Ryan think of the album considering how crazy they went over Gucci Gucci. I have no intention of ever checking it out, however.

#18 Posted by Dawglet (313 posts) -

every1 stop being mean to kreay this is sad T_T

#19 Posted by Vinny_Says (5721 posts) -

This is what happens when you get a lucky break and one of your songs hits it big and then you wait almost 2 years to release an album all the while being unable to reproduce any of the magic of your breakout hit.

#20 Posted by rjayb89 (7728 posts) -

You can't listen to Kreayshawn without watching Lil' Debbie walking around in her music videos.

#21 Posted by TheHT (11670 posts) -

ahhhh, the sad trombone of reality. then again it's not hard to imagine a world where she becomes huge (for a week at least), so fuck trombones!

Same.

that must suck for her, but i can't say i'm surprised. if she wanted sales, she should have probably released something around the time that Gucci Gucci was still 'relevant', for lack of a better word

#24 Edited by NegativeCero (3024 posts) -

What I want to know is if Riff Raff will sell. I would love for his crazy persona to be the thing that pushes his sales. But yeah, that sucks. Also, I guess their advertising effort didn't reach me because I had no idea about her debut.

#25 Posted by Philedius (204 posts) -

I feel very disturbed about the fact that people actually expect shit like this to do well in sales. Well, and even more disturbed about the fact that shit like this does well in sales.

JUSTICE

I liked Gucci Gucci quite a bit, and I bought the single...but just about every other track she's released is unbearable to listen to.

Again, mind blowing.

@AjayRaz Its weird. They had her touring forever last year. You think they would have had her record the album first then cash in on that not throw her into a tour scene then the album.
#30 Posted by CL60 (16906 posts) -

Good, she's fucking awful.

#31 Posted by jonnyboy (2920 posts) -

Figures, she can't rap for shit.

#32 Posted by pyromagnestir (4333 posts) -

No. I did not buy it. Nor did I ever have any intention to buy it. Seems I was not alone in that regard.

#33 Posted by Dad_Is_A_Zombie (1225 posts) -

If it weren't for Giant Bomb I wouldn't even know who this girl is. So, yeah, not a huge surprise...

Your mind should be blown because bad is the new good.. Here's an example.
#35 Posted by Sbaitso (558 posts) -

Gucci is a guilty pleasure, all the others I've heard did little for me.

#36 Posted by punkxblaze (2990 posts) -

There's fucking justice and sanity in the world in some form.

#37 Posted by triple07 (1198 posts) -

Well that sucks, but I have no idea who she is.

#38 Posted by GoofyGoober (937 posts) -

Lol of course it did.

Heh didn't know she was signed with Columbia or was on MTV (Don't have cable). Sucks to be her though she was kinda the one hit type of artist haven't really heard of anything else from her being popular. Kind of wonder in a few years if she will be the female Vanilla Ice of 2010s

#41 Posted by chrismafuchris (1088 posts) -
@Master_Funk Suprisingly, she garnered a lot of buzz on music websites, an with hip-hop fans in general last year. If she had been quicker to follow up on her single, she might have had something.
#42 Posted by MikkaQ (10330 posts) -

Hahah albums... come on guys, it's 2012. Singles are all that sells.

Nah. People knew who Vanilla Ice was on a massive scale for the short time he was relevant.

Seeing Giant Bomb talk about music is beyond painful.

And his album sold 11 million copies.

Her music is ass all around. "Gucci Gucci" is amusing solely because of its one-hit wonder capability. We live in a time that is suffocating honest music and promoting fake bullshit, much the same way the period of around '85-'92 was. We know what happened there: Nirvana came through and killed them all. The same will happen again. It happens every musical generation: there's one artist that slays everything and becomes the new messiah of music.

#48 Posted by Gerhabio (1977 posts) -

Gucci Gucci was clever. I have since heard a couple of her other songs like Go Hard (La La La) and while catchy, they simply don't have the spunk of her first hit.

How did Columbia spend so much on promotion if I've never heard of her?? Keep in mind I work at a music TV channel, so I hear of everybody...and if Columbia was really spending so much we would've interviewed her by now.
