From Gizmodo:

Lulzsec and Anonymous have just declared full open war against all governments, banks and big corporations in the world. They are calling all hackers in the world to unite. Their objective is to fully expose all corruption and dark secrets:

Salutations Lulz Lizards,
As we're aware, the government and whitehat security terrorists across the world continue to dominate and control our Internet ocean. Sitting pretty on cargo bays full of corrupt booty, they think it's acceptable to condition and enslave all vessels in sight. Our Lulz Lizard battle fleet is now declaring immediate and unremitting war on the freedom-snatching moderators of 2011.
Welcome to Operation Anti-Security (#AntiSec) - we encourage any vessel, large or small, to open fire on any government or agency that crosses their path. We fully endorse the flaunting of the word "AntiSec" on any government website defacement or physical graffiti art. We encourage you to spread the word of AntiSec far and wide, for it will be remembered. To increase efforts, we are now teaming up with the Anonymous collective and all affiliated battleships.
Whether you're sailing with us or against us, whether you hold past grudges or a burning desire to sink our lone ship, we invite you to join the rebellion. Together we can defend ourselves so that our privacy is not overrun by profiteering gluttons. Your hat can be white, gray or black, your skin and race are not important. If you're aware of the corruption, expose it now, in the name of Anti-Security.
Top priority is to steal and leak any classified government information, including email spools and documentation. Prime targets are banks and other high-ranking establishments. If they try to censor our progress, we will obliterate the censor with cannonfire anointed with lizard blood.
It's now or never. Come aboard, we're expecting you...
History begins today.
Lulz Security

This is not going to end well. Or perhaps it will end well. Could this movement help change the world for the better? With the growing worldwide discontent against the political and financial establishment—in my home country and all through Europe people are organizing to fight corrupted politicians and their greedy fat owners—I wonder if this may very well be the beginning of our May 1968. That was the time when the young French generations stood up against the government to demand a much needed change.
Opening the vaults of dark secrets and exposing corruption everywhere would certainly help towards that goal: Real change. Perhaps this is just the beginning of a quiet and angry revolution that will make the world a better place. Maybe making that information public will be instrumental to wake everyone up.
That said, exposing emails and private information from normal people or sinking ships that are neutral in this battle will not help towards that cause. That's not good and will not help anyone but those who they declare their enemies.
But uncovering the wrongdoings of states and economical institutions? I'm all for it.

This is stupid, right?

I hope these guys start getting arrested.

#5 Posted by MysteriousBob (6272 posts) -

I just want these threads to stop. Its coverage like this thats just encouraging these retards.

I'm not criticising the OP, by the way.

#6 Edited by crusader8463 (14413 posts) -

If they actually uncover some cover ups then good on them I guess. I just hope they realize that when they start fucking around with shit like this they don't get someone knocking on their door to arrest them, when they get caught. They get people like Sam Fisher coming in through their window at night while they are asleep.

God damn hackers
#8 Edited by MentalDisruption (1618 posts) -

Well, fuck. They're not going to stop until they all have even more reasons to be arrested or otherwise take down apparently. Wonder what jokers response to this will be.

Maybe whoever has been targeting developers will finally leave the gaming industry alone though.

#9 Posted by billnyethesciencepie (1333 posts) -
@MysteriousBob: Id say of all their shennanigans, this one deserves a thread
#10 Posted by MiniPato (2720 posts) -

I'm gonna break into someone's house and take all their stuff. But it's okay because I'm doing it to fight some stupid fight no one cares about nor wants.

Yep, they've completely lost their shit.

I prefer corrupt governments to social misfits, personally.

Sigh.

#14 Posted by CommodoreGroovy (548 posts) -

If their past records of hacking has been any indication, this is a bunch of BS.

#15 Posted by elcalavera (341 posts) -

Commies.

#16 Posted by Chirag4 (585 posts) -

How fucking old are these guys?

#17 Edited by Gamer_152 (14051 posts) -

So they started off with some vague moral excuses, fell back into the old pattern of "doing it for the lulz" and now they've done a 180 and they're suddenly a group interested in freedom, liberation and exposing corruption? These were the guys who were laughing their heads off at the people upset with the downed Minecraft servers several days ago. I'm all for speaking out against people restricting freedom on the internet and stopping corporate corruption but you don't have to be a genius to work out that a bunch of black hat hackers taking the law into their own hands rarely ever ends well. Someone arrest these guys already.

Just ban their WoW accounts.
Suicides galore.

This was getting old 3 weeks ago. Now it's just sad.

There just has to be a line of how stupid you can be before the Government is allowed to send Sam Fisher clones to murder you.

@Choffy: If that bottom part is your own post, you may want to take it out of the quote.
#22 Posted by leebmx (2216 posts) -

If they get some good shit from the banks or government then fair play to them....I think they talk bigger than they walk though....all they seem to be doing is DDos attacks. But if they can hack into a bank and expose some wrongdoings or just mess with them I'll be happy. Banks and their actions are destroying the economies of many countries at the moment and making ordinary working people pay for their mistakes - they deserve no sympathy.

#23 Posted by bonbolapti (1599 posts) -

They should try going outside once in a while.

What "government conspiracies" did they expect to find when hacking the likes of SEGA and Epic? Sounds like immature adults who are retroactively trying to justify their illegal behavior.

As an aside, did Charlie Sheen write this declaration? "we will obliterate the censor with cannonfire anointed with lizard blood"
Good God...

No, that's part of the Gizmodo post he's linked to.

I'm going to laugh if there's a huge raid where a ton of them get arrested.

#27 Posted by WalkerTR77 (1352 posts) -

I said it when they hacked the CIA website and I'll say it again here. I want these cunts waterboarded.

#28 Posted by billnyethesciencepie (1333 posts) -

Well,  giant corporations control internet access.

So id say its a bad idea to attack them

#29 Posted by Vonocourt (2116 posts) -

So in the span of two weeks they went from "hacking" video game websites so they could blackmail publishers for info on skyrim, too some anti-government rebellion?

Talk about ego trip.

#30 Posted by Morien (159 posts) -

Self-righteous assholes. I love how they say not to attack neutral "ships" and yet they've hacked gaming sites, servers, and the like.

@Underachiever007:Okie dokie. Didn't see the link at the top and wasn't sure, since it was written like an opinion instead of news. My bad.
#35 Posted by N7 (3573 posts) -

I wonder. The FBI apparently has all of their info already, but nothing seems to be happening to them.

I have a feeling this is going to give rise to some sort of FOXHOUND-esque, Government funded group of anti-hackers that are sent to deal with assholes like this. That would be so boss. Web Ninjas and The Jester would lead the group and it would be awesome.

#36 Posted by HairyToeKnuckles (123 posts) -
Yeah, take down THE MAN who has tried to oppress you, lulz lizards! Take down the ones who have tried to harm you and your families, lulz lizards! (Oh, and also, sorry about releasing over 60k random people's info onto the internet. It was for the lulz). FIGHT THE POWER!
#37 Posted by Skald (4367 posts) -

I like LulzSec, but if they hack my bank I'm going to flip.

Only with all parties in one of the buildings

#44 Posted by Irvandus (2818 posts) -

Metal Gear Solid 5 will be based off of this.

#45 Posted by Skogen (430 posts) -

So they went from being hackers to international terrorists?

That should end well.

or non-government group called "Philanthropy" led by Cyber Ninjas and Snakes?

Instead of being freedom fighters, the sad thing is that they're yet another excuse for governments to restrict freedom on the net.

#50 Posted by Video_Game_King (35992 posts) -

They do realize that this is a terrible idea, right? I'm sure that governments and high-end businesses hire some type of security for their information.
