!?!?!?! Mind blown. And as far as I can tell, this whole thing with Lionhead is fake. The Twitter account this is linked to is fake. This is just a really, really good animator's rendition of Mario meets Silent Hill.

Are you seriously going to bag on Molyneux for firing the guy? A company has a specific market/image/goal ,and they always try to hire people who are of a similar mindset. Nothing to do with free speech >_>

I can understand why   Molyneux fired the guy though. Regardless of the messed up imagery of the video. You can't have your subordinates openly mocking the heads of direct competition. Freedom of speech isn't the issue here - you are become a representative of a company when you are employed are always acting on their behalf. Public forms of slander/libel of another company not only open a company up for potential litigation, but can look really bad in the public eye.

Nintendo isn't nearly dead yet, IMO...

Thought it was interesting and kind of creepy until Reggie showed up, then it just became another butthurt nerd going "Nintendo doesn't cater to me anymore, waaaaaahhhhhhhhh!" And that montage of E3 footage and commercials went on for way to long.

I like the Silent Hill meets Mario vibe of the video. I don't buy the firing story from the comments, though.

lol pretty disturbing. Although, I have to say, I do agree on some extent what the video is trying to say(of course, I imagined something less disturbing and involves less drugs)

Nintendo is a corporation. People need to get over that. Just because you enjoyed there games when you were young does not mean they were caring then. They made a product and you bought it. They don't owe you anything now, and if they are not producing something you want to buy, don't buy it. Plenty of others will though. That's why they do it; Simple economics. Mario has always been a  commercial product and corporate tool, even if you were too innocent to understand. Your childhood isn't being raped now, it was sold to you then.
 
Besides, the Galaxy games have been great.

Holy, that was awesome. XD  Although personally I doubt whoever made it ever worked at Nintendo (because really, what company would release that?), but the imagery and meaning behind it was great.  Nintendo HAS been pushing themselves more towards the 'casual gamers' solely for money, leaving more traditional gamers in the dust with few games.

How very poetic.  

I'm guessing if the firing and stuff is true, it was for more than just this video. The quote states that Molyneaux was looking into this guy because of odd behavior, so they may have been looking into firing him before seeing the video. It's possible the video and other mildly threatening/deprecating statements about Nintendo were enough to motivate them to actually fire him.  Obviously we have no way of knowing for sure, but I'm guessing his "odd behavior" was pretty worrisome; i.e. disturbing to other employees or affecting his job performance.
 
IMO, this kind of thing isn't what you want your employer to find regardless of freedom of speech. Companies have specific images to maintain, as well as business relationships, and having an employee who blatantly twists a rival company's lead character into what we saw in the video really isn't going to be beneficial to anyone. Its well within a company's right to fire a person if their actions could be seen as detrimental or threatening to other employees or business relations.

What? This has absolutely nothing to do with Lionhead. It's a depiction of someone's personal opinion. Unless he was actively working on this while on the job, him being fired for it (assuming that part of the story is even true) is ridiculous, and I can't believe anyone would defend it. Your statement about always representing your company has terrifying implications if exposed to even the slightest of slippery slopes. "
