I'm really glad the Magic came out and won that game. I'd love to see an upset, just to know this Kobe-LeBron hype isn't a way for David Stern to telegraphed the rigged finale of the NBA season.
Also, on the note of the Lakers-Nuggets game: The calls in that game, especially against L.A., were consistently awful. L.A. didn't play well, but it helps when the referees don't allow the two teams to get into a rhythm.
NBA 2009 Playoffs
First off, I'm rooting for the Magic and the Lakers. I hope the Magic can keep up what they did in the second half of last game.
Now onto last night's game. There were some poor/missed calls by the referees. I won't say that they caused the Lakers to lose though (but that missed violation on the jump ball could have changed the outcome dramatically). I'm not sure what the Lakers are doing wrong, they have the players, they just aren't getting it done. Kobe turning the ball over when trying to get passed Nene was huge. Ah well, good game played by the Nuggets, they are really showing they mean business.
Dude. What a shot. I think my jaw hit the floor with that one. It reminded me of that shot Kobe hit back in the finals against the Pistons years ago. The Lakers had home court advantage and we down 1-0 and about to lose the second game, then Kobe hit a buzzer beater 3 for the win. It was an important win because no game has ever come back in a series after losing the first two games at home. Lebron just found himself in that same situation and nailed it. In the end, the Lakers ended up losing that series, which was a major upset. That was the year they really should have won. They had Malone, and Payton along with Shaq and Kobe, and Chick Hearn had died right at the beginning of the season. What an upset.
good bounce back game by the lakers. hopefully the officiating will be better from here on out. For stretches, all the teams have received horrible calls against them that don't always balance out or come at inopportune moments especially against the Magic.
If the Lakers win the next game, i think they can win it in 6 and if either the magic or the Cavs win both game 3 and 4 then that team will win. Otherwise a longer series will favor the Cavs (the Magic still have a pretty good chance due to clutch plays, great 3 point shooting, and a good big man).

The Cavs-Magic series is a really fun series to watch. Where the Lakers and Nuggets are evenly matched almost tit-for-tat, the Cavs and Magic have alternating strengths and weaknesses.
Good basketball, these last few days.
You guys nailed it, pretty poor officiating in the Nuggets-Lakers games, but overall great series in both conferences.
Hopefully Kobe gets the rest he needs, the man was tired.

Yeah that was really weird, hopefully Kobe is doing alright, maybe he was sick or something? He was stumbling around when he was walking back to the locker room.
Yeah, the official in both Conference Finals series are questionable. Last night especially so. Dwight Howard touches LeBron James on the head and gets called for a foul? Then later at the end of the game Howard runs from behind and gets nothing but ball on his over the shoulder block on LeBron and gets called again? The refs just need to let these teams play. I'm sure they can handle getting pushed around some.
Also yes Kane I agree, touch fouls are absolutely ridiculous, especially around the rim. The NBA seems to be discouraging defense when they call clean blocks as fouls, I can't stand it. We should celebrate when actual defense is played, rather than just watching someone lay it in. That is why I am rooting for Dwight Howard, he won't allow anything easy.

Apparently he was so tired, he needed an IV after the game.
Okay this is absolutely ridiculous. The officiating in the Nuggets-Lakers game is complete shit, so much so that I stopped watching somewhere in the 3rd quarter. How a referee can be watching at mid court while Jones blatantly trips Bryant, and then Billups being able to fall out of the play after shooting into Gasol to get a foul is bull.
On top of that Jeff Van Gundy is one of the most annoying commentators I've ever listened to.

I agree with everything you said, the officials have been getting noticeably worse and worse, and the espn commentators in general just don't equal to TNT's.
Yesterday's game was crazy, technical fouls where being handed out all the time, and fouls that weren't flagrant got called flagrant. I'm going for Lakers, but damn, as an NBA fan, this shit is ridiculous.
There are a lot of mind games going no right now in the Cavs/Magic series, with Mo Williams guaranteeing a win and then Wallace shooting back at Van Gundy's comments.
Solid win for the Lakers, I hope they can play like this again in Denver. End this series now LA!
Tomorrow hopefully Orlando will do the same.
loved the pass from kobe to lamar for the and 1 with the shot clock winding down. kobe played smart for the most part and his team respnded. Good defense down the stretch as well and Shanon Brown hit some big shots and played good D on Billups.
Excited for tomorrow's game between the Magic and the Cavs.
Go Orlando tonight.

Haha, Discorsi.
I <3 Mbenga. Wish he'd get a few more minutes, because he's not a bad, physical center.
Go Lakers. We crushed Denver tonight. Pretty happy about that.
Yes, yes yes. As much as I would like Kobe to defeat LeBron in the finals I feel Orlando is more deserving to win that series, go D. Howard.
Anyways I am happy for the Magic, they proved that they are a force to be reckoned with. This will be a very interesting match up to see if Gasol and Bynum can handle Howard inside. I also hope Fisher shows up and knocks down more shots.
