Have you watched Louie yet? If you've watched a lot of TV and are looking for something unique and new, I very very highly recommend it. The first season is just a great, really honest dark comedy with surprising depth and heart. The second season is... something else entirely. There are episodes where I don't laugh once but it's some of the most compelling television I've ever seen (and still there are some episodes where I just can't stop laughing). Louis C.K. writes, directs, and edits every episode, and the personal care given to everything really shines through. I don't know if it's a comedy or a drama any more, but whatever it is it's fucking amazing.
I second these sentiments, and would like to recommend Wilfred as well. The show takes a few episodes to really hit its stride, but once it does, the end results are fucking great.
This!
Louie is hilarious in some spots and so heart breakingly brutal in others. If you're into dark comedies and for something different in general check out Louie. Wilfred, on the other hand, is batshit crazy but great just the same.

Weeds is pretty good. I don't watch much TV, if any, so I might have to check out some of the suggestions here.

Pushing Daisies was pure wonderful.  Not so much the later ones where they took away the innocence in some episodes and with it the beauty.

Avoid Torchwood Miracle Day like the plague, it's awful.  Walking Dead falls into the same trap of having a good discovery phase then nothing happens for episode after episode.  Such a disappointment.

The first series of Sirens is great but I've no idea how well it would travel if you're not British.  The MST3K channel on Justin tv is my current reliable dead space filler.

Have you seen The Big Bang Theory?  It's excellent ( it's shit) and so funny ( it's not), creative and original ( predictable production-line written pap).

I'd say Doctor Who.

Actually if you've never watched Batman: The Animated Series (the one from the early 90's) I'd suggest that one. I just watched a few episodes recently and it holds up surprisingly well.

Kevin Conroy is the best Batman. And It'll help you get amped up for Arkham City.

Watch every episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) that they have on Netflix. It is the greatest comedy show to ever grace TV.

Amen, brother.

Crow shouted out "BOLLOCKS!" in the episode I watched yesterday and I had a gob full of tea and looked like I was having a stroke trying to stop it dribbling out of my spasming face.  Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, btw.

I think Treme is probably the best show on TV right now.

A fantastic show you've probably never heard of is ReGenesis. It's not on any more but you should find a way to watch it. It follows a virology lab fighting bio-terrorism.

One more for Firefly. And The Dick van Dyke Show is still as phenomenal as ever, if not quite in the era of these other suggestions.

Another vote for Firefly.

And I'll go on and toss in "Rome" as I don't think I've seen it mentioned here quite yet. A fantastic show that unfortunately only ran for two seasons, keeping very true to the historic source material while managing to make the famous personalities at the time come across as real, human beings; as despicable, depraved and yet loveable as anyone you might have run across, so far.

Ontop of that, I'd definitely, definitely vote for Battlestar Galactica. Probably the only series ever written that actually feels complete. (They ended it at the fourth season rather than drag it on, and so managed to form a perfect ending that tied up all story-trails; and above all, had an emotional impact like nothing seen on TV before. A perfect ending, simply.)

I'd also like to point out that "Deadwood" is great.

And just because.. Watch "M.A.S.H", man. It's older now, quite a deal so. But it's worth seeing. Especially the later seasons that take a turn for the more serious. Combines incredibly witty humour, and paints a pretty bleak portrait of a side of the war you've never seen before.

And hell, BLACKADDER!

Also, the first three our four seasons of House are really good.

Well you probably want to start with the greatest show ever, Lost. If you've already watched that then I'd go to 24 and then Rescue Me which are probably the second and third best shows I've ever seen. You could also watch the first two seasons of Prison Break and then at the end of season 2 use your imagination to imagine an ending for the series and pretend the rest of the series never happened (cause it sucked). Invasion was a great show but sadly got canceled after one season and Jericho is good too. And avoid the highly overrated first season and rest of the awful seasons of Heroes.

Probably already said a thousand times, but if you want the best crime/police drama series of all time, watch "The Wire".

The Shield is a close second, it's a little less plot, and a little more badassery.

Both are must watches, and put all other shows to shame.

Being Human (BBC version).  There are 3 seasons out and the 4th is in current production.  It's about a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire who share a flat (rooming house) together.  It's really incredible and one of the very few shows I watched regularly.  It's on hiatus from BBC America right now but the DVD/Blu-Rays are out for all 3 completed seasons.  There is an American version of the show that airs on the SyFy Channel which is okay but nowhere near the quality of the original British series.  The SyFy version is somewhat different than the BBC one story-wise, but the basic premise is still the same.

An older show that you might have to hunt down is a BBC mini-series from 1998 called Ultra Violet.  It's out on DVD and Netflix (USA) carries it.  It's about UK government sanctioned vampire hunters.  It's more like a seedy cop drama than a supernatural thriller.  It's depressing tone is similar to the darker parts of Being Human actually.  It's a very smart show and well worth your time, I think.

Raising Hope: A brilliant sitcom.
Midsomer Murders: Tense drama.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but a long while ago, there was a series on ITV called "The Last Train" it was surprisingly high budget and had a interesting story. Basically a train becomes a big ice cube as soon as a massive asteroid devastes the Earth, the passengers awake to a world much like that of ID's Rage, But in Britain of course. Also the Swedish version of Wallender, especially the first series, is the best thing on television.

I'm an huge fan of TV shows, problem is that I've checked out most of them, so recommend any TV show that you think I might like, cause I'm struggling to think of some Also don't ask me to just google it, I want opinions from you guys, the GB community. I'd list all that I've checked out but the list is huge so just feel free to recommend some, keep in mind that I've checked out most of the bigger shows like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy. I like me some Sci-fi and drama but I could watch anything

You might've already watched it, but if you say you like Sci-fi and drama, then you should watch Babylon 5. It was and is the best sci-fi TV series ever made. If you like yourself some space opera you should definitely check it out.

Misfits, best show on air right now. So many shows are so predictable and never goes somewhere new. But Misfits takes a genre that has become stale (super heroes) and does something very interesting with it.

Highly recommend both Oz and The Shield, plus they have quite a few seasons between them so it should tide you over a while.

If you like sci-fi, then definitely BSG.

There are plenty besides those, it's just a case of having the time to watch. If you care to wade through the dross, the quality in TV drama has actually be fairly stellar over the last 10 years.

It just happens that, like you, I've caught up on it all in the last few years.

Deadwood and Justifed are both worth checking out, and have Olyphant playing two different kinds of badass.

Edit: Forgot to mention The Wire, but surely at this point, everyone knows to watch it.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is pretty funny.

Parks & Recreation, Home Movies, and Archer are three great comedies available on Netflix.  Also, Better Off Ted.  I started watching it out of sheer boredom but by the second season I was really enjoying it.

If you can get over the fact that they're "for kids", Cartoon Network has got a pair of hilarious shows going right now with Adventure Time and Regular Show.
