I'm from Chicago. We're known for a few different foods, like the Italian beef sammich, the Chicago-style dog and deep-dish stuffed pizza.

My favorite, though, is one most people aren't familiar with: Chicago-style thin crust pizza. Most people equate Chicago with deep-dish, but we have a badass thin crust, too. Here's wikipedia's description, which is pretty accurate:

"There is also a style of thin-crust pizza unique to Chicago. The crust is thin and firm enough to have a noticeable crunch, unlike a New York-style pizza. The crust is topped with a liberal quantity of Italian style tomato sauce, which usually has quite a lot of herbs or is highly spiced, and typically contains no visible chunks of tomato. Next, a layer of toppings is added, and finally a layer of mozzarella cheese. This pizza is cut into squares, also known as party cut, as opposed to a pie cut into wedges. However, the consistency of the crust and the quantity and choice of the tomato sauce and cheese are what separate this style from East Coast- and Roman-style pizzas, and it makes the pizza from most neighborhood pizzerias immediately distinguishable from that offered by national chains such as Papa John's or Pizza Hut."

SO GOOD. Definitely better than our deep dish, IMO.

Daaamn, I don't like crunchy pizza bases but shit that looks fine.

The area in which I live isn't well known for food but the majority of the population does weed. I love you Western Sydney.

Seriously, Australia isn't known for that much, food-wise, out side of the sterotypical "shrimp on the barby"

I live in Delaware.

With that said, we have an amazing pizza house just down the road. I tend to get their Chicago styled pizza, or regular pepperoni.

As far as where I live now, no idea. I used to live in NY though, and my love and loyalty to New York prevents me from willing to try out your Chicago "pizza."  NY style chinese food is also amazing. So much so that I've seen restaurants where I live now that like to emphasize that their chinese food is in fact NY style.

New mexico is known for its green chillies, mostly.  As such, the classic Green Chilies Rellenos would have to be what we're 'known for' i guess!

There's a ton of stuff in it and there's a ton of variations of it. It was created by Nick Tahou's Hot's, which is a local restaurant here.

Here's the definition from the offical Nick Tahou's wiki:
"A Garbage Plate is a combination of one selection of cheeseburger, hamburger, red hots, white hots, Italian sausage, chicken tender, fish ( Haddock), fried ham, grilled cheese, or eggs; and two sides of either home fries, French fries, baked beans, or macaroni salad). On top of that are the options of mustard and onions, ketchup, and Nick's proprietary hot sauce, a greasy sauce with spices and ground beef. It's served with rolls or Italian toast on the side."

If you like hot spicy food I very much encourage trying one. If you don't like hot spicy food then I very much encourage you to avoid them like the plague. If you want to try making one you use something like Mac Salad and Home Fries as the base and just sorta of keep putting stuff on top from there. The meat goes on top last though and then you put the hot sauce on top of it all. For extra zing some people here put spicy chili on top of the hot sauce. Then just sorta cut it up and eat it with a fork and spoon.

Kentucky Hot Brown. Open face turkey and ham sandwich covered in mornay or cheddar cheese sauce with tomato on top. Then topped with more cheese and baked. Topped off with two slices of crispy bacon. So goddam delicious but your arteries will hate you.

Well since I am a native Chicagoan it makes me really sad to see such awesome food mentioned. Right now I am located in Minnesota, and well I would say our most well known food up here would be the Juicy Lucy. Prepare to take in all its glory...

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia and we have Donairs. They were originally created by Lebanese (I think lebanese) immigrants to Nova Scotia. It's basically a toasted pita with Onions, Tomatoes and Donair meat on top. Donair meat is actually a gigantic mixture of a whole bunch of kinds of meat mixed into one. The meat itself looks nasty, but tastes oh so good. And then it's topped with Donair Sauce, which is a very sweet sugar-vinegar based sauce.

So, so good. They are based off of something from the Middle East called a Doner Kebab, but they're totally different.

Representing the south shore of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, fried clams. It is the best shoreline food you could have on a spring or summer day. Plate of fried clams, side of hand-cut french fries, a cold beer (in a bottle, no glass) and tartar sauce to complete the meal.

In Montana we have pasties. Meat and other tasties crammed into a pie like crust. Some people smother them in ketchup or gravy.

I live in Houston, Texas but my family is from Pakistan and one of the most famous foods we have is the Samosa:

It is pretty much a triangle shaped egg roll filled with either ground beef or potato's. I prefer ground beef and they usually have a spicy sauce (called Chutney) to dip it in.

Northeast Pennsylvania has its pierogies, a simple Eastern European dish. Pretty much a dumpling filled with potato, cabbage, sauerkraut, mushrooms, or cheese. I like mine fried and well browned. Old Forge style pizza is less known, but it's very popular among the locals.

I'm in the South, and while there are a ton of regional dishes throughout this part of the country, none that are highly appreciated in my little neck of the woods (or swamp).  I guess the closest thing would be swamp cabbage.  I mean, there is a festival and everything for it.  I've never eaten it, but I have had alligator tail, and yes, it does taste a bit like chicken.

Just to add to the long list of disgusting Norwegian traditional food:

                                                                                                                                                     Lutefisk

Basically it's fish fermented in lye. It has a jello-like substance to it and tastes terrible.
