I'm thinking of ripping my CD collection (approx 400+ CD's) back onto my PC after upgrading to Win 7 last year.
I used to use itunes but now use WMP to organize & play my music.
Can anyone suggest better programs to use that have a decent library and info updating system?

I use Zune; I have a Zune, but I think that in and of itself the software is pretty great. The way in which music is organised is great, especially since the update that came with the ZuneHD (what I own).

I use Winamp when I'm not using Spotify. It can add ID3-tags automatically and stuff. Serves my needs well enough.

I use iTunes, and have to put my shit on Zune, but recently I've gotten so much music that I haven't fixed all the ID3 tags yet and it's not on Zune. Shit.

I use iTunes, but only because of my iPhone. If fucking hate iTunes with a passion, especially if it's running on a PC, I much prefer WMP because it isn't slow as fuck

I used Foobar but I switched to Zune since it practically does everything for me, and wireless sync is pretty rad with the Zune HD.

I have an iPod, so I just use iTunes.

For those of you who have a Zune, how is the software? Easy to use? Also, is it easy to transfer thousands of songs from iTunes to the Zune software?

I don't use anything because iTunes sucks and I don't feel like downloading any other stupid programs.

My Ipod believe it or not. I barely keep anything on my PC. Maybe 400+ or so songs. Some albums, etc.

zune software is great, easier to deal with than windows media player...
the only thing I miss is the 5 star rating system, with zune (since the 2.0 update) they went with a "heart / broken_heart" system. That didnt work for me so I now use my folder system to seperate the files accordingly to the rating I would give them.

my mp3s are as follows...
electronic
rap
rock
other

then rated with a 5 star system
2 star songs get backed up and erased
1 star songs get deleted

all that goes into my zune 120GB
and select songs and playlists go into my gf's zune flash

I organise my music collection by hand, I get a small amount of music at a time so its easy to make sure they have the correct artist names/album/file names (the last one is a pet peeve of mine, I hate files names like Artist - Song.mp3 and prefere the artist name of the folder and just song.mp3). I mainly listen to it on my PSP so I connect it as a standard flash drive and manually copy the folders of the artists (or individual songs) that I want to the music folder.

Windows Media Player Lossless ~2000 discs @ 300mb per (or so) takes up a good chunk of the 750 gig drive I use for my media. But they sound great!

I like the nice clean interface of WMP (and since I'm old and listen to whole albums I don't tend to need playlists and that sort of thing).

I roll with iTunes, and don't get why it's hated. It works fine, has some cool features, plus the store has a lot of music.

I use Windows Media Player. I use Spotify more now but Media Player is where my music collection is. About 1100 songs.

Zune, because I have a Zune. I actually only got a Zune because I've always hated iTunes on Windows and how sluggish it had always been for me. Never tried it on a Mac though.

I also have iTunes, but it can suck my nuts. It's so unorganized. The only thing i use it for is getting the bombcasts.

I only use iTunes because I prefer its interface to the Zune software, and I don't think the Zune software supports last.fm (or vice-versa).

I would use WMP, except it doesn't write tags properly. So since I have an iPhone, I'm using iTunes. Not exactly a fan of that program, but meh.

MediaMonkey is still the best program for organizing your music, hands down.
