This thread has a disturbing lack of power metal, but fear not! I am here to fix this.
Seriously, how can you not get pumped up by a song that's first lyrics are "I'm going out to war" with that riff playing behind it?
The Jesus Lizard - "The Art of Self-Defense"
Mastodon - "Deathbound"
Ghostface Killah - "The Champ"
Mogwai - "Glasgow Mega Snake"
@Fattony12000: Posting late 90's era Ed Rush and Optical; are you mad?! You'll blow peoples minds son!!!
Followed.
@IkariNoTekken: I wish I could blow more people's minds! These days most normal people will just think of Pendulum and Chase & Status when you say Drum and Bass to them. Oh well! Here's a special video just for you, if know who Terry Wogan (I assume you're a Briton if you recognise my tracks) is you'll find it...something...at least.
@Fattony12000: Ha ha, that's fantastic.
90's era Jungle, Darkcore and Drum & Bass will always be my personal high-mark but there is still some good output today, but like you said its the well known, radio-played artists that people associate with the genre.
Ed Rush & Optical's Wormhole is obviously an all time favourite album, Dom's Industry and Back For The Future are also superb.
@IkariNoTekken: Oh yeah, of course there is always new good stuff plopping out, it's just that gets swamped by the volume of shit these days. I count myself lucky to own those albums on vinyl, along with stuff like:
Always gets me head-nodding, if not outright singing along. Just about every song on their album is golden if you like that old school-ish hip-hop taste btw. Fun stuff.
"Ready to Go" -Republica,; "Train, Train" - Blackfoot; "What I like about you" - Romantics; "Hate to say I told you so" - Hives.
Warning: It's extremely manly.
some interesting choices, some really bad choices and some disturbing choices here. anyone who does not get pumped up by "Chocolate Rain" and nothing else is clearly not a 2007-era internet nerd, and has no place here, so piss of. also, anything by College or Futurecop! is acceptable.
