"This is the correct answer.00's
Now, because all the music from the other decades is still around.
"
Which decade do you think had the best music?
Really there's good music from any decade if you take into account the entire world and all genres. In terms of the music that was played on the radio during these decades I have to say the 60's was the only decade where less than half of the music played was utter crap. Maybe 49 percent.
" The 2020's, trust me. "Fuck that, the 2030's surely!
I voted the 90's, there's some pretty good stuff there. I don't like a lot of modern music, all seems to be the same.
The 1700's. Modern music, on the other hand, would be in this decade. I like where all of this metal and experimental stuff is going.
I say all of them really, there are songs I love that is pre 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's. 90's and 00's and while it is heavily focused on modern music that is only because this when I was born and I feel more "involved" the music since its coming from now with the same sort of issues as the world im in (though of course earlier music can still relate to now its just that modern music can relate more). So I could never say any period is better, its all awesome in its own way.
2000's... Just sayin' its an obvious decade for me because I grew up with Music from it. I have good knowledge of all the decades of Music as I'm a music student, but I just prefer the 2000's music.
I guess the 80s are too close to me to like most of the music from that decade. Having experienced it all first hand, I disliked 90% of it then and still have little use for much of it outside of late 80s alternative. I much prefer the 90s to the 80s for rock, alternative, college-rock and independent.
But, I was the one who voted for 40s and below because much of the very best jazz music written was created during that time. Popular standards, swing music, bebop as well as the orchestral influenced work of Duke Ellington and Ira Gershwin. And if I really wanted to be a stickler for the poll's wordage, "and below" could include all the classical music written including Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Puccini, Stravinsky, and the list goes on and on. That catalog alone would outshine anything written in the 20th Century.
" Its hilarious that no one has given the 50's a vote. "I wonder who here is a big fan of the 50's?
the 90's! there were alot of awesome alternative, grunge, punk, ska, hip-hop groups, like nirvana, smashing pumpkins, nofx (3 of my favorite bands), less than jake, assorted jelly beans, afi (when they played hardcore punk, but they're still awesome), nas, 2pac, foo fighters, alice in chains, beck, goldfinger, the list goes on and on....
"80's Nowadays it's nothing but horrible emo bands and shitty rap, but rap means shitty so shitty rap makes no since "Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got somethin' to say but nothin' comes out when they move they lips just a buncha jibberish ya muthafuckas act like you forgot about Dre.

I wish you had put a None of the Above. Lot of music I listened to rolled into other Decades.
For example, Rush started in the 70's but they produced a new, awesome album just
two years ago that I also enjoy. Bowie also spanned from the 60's to the early 2000's.
How do you categorize that into this rigid decade structure that doesn't actually work?
So far I'd have to say that most music that came out in 2000, at least on the top 100 charts
etc, has been the worst music I've ever heard in my life. The masses must be morons.
" @Asurastrike said:Really? I wasn't aware." The 2020's, trust me. "2020 hasn't come yet. "
I say the 1970s. It was this decade that saw the peak of most of my favorite bands, like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd
" I don't understand why so many people are saying, I don't understand why "insert year here" has votes. I'll tell you why. It's an opinion that differs from yours. "Well yes but The Beatles are surely better than 80's pop, people who like the 80's and others for grunge etc I'll let that go.Music is not entirely a matter of taste.Theres science to it as well.
For example I know that Pink Floyd are great, I dont like them but I know they are great just not to my taste.
What you like is a preference not science...you may know somebody is good at what they do, but that doesn't mean you have to like them. What type of music you like is an opinion and a personal preference. Nothing more." @CL60 said:

sure there was a lot of bands like this in the 80s, but does that mean any of them caim close to the awesomeness of Van Halen, the one band they were all trying to emulate? i mean seriously, there actually was a few great bands that were like this, but more importantly there were WAY MORE other kinds of bands/artists that made amazing music during the 80's. stop generalizing the entire decade." Wow I'm surprised so many people are voting the 80's. I assume that's because it's when a lot of you were born, must be too young to really remember the 80's. ;-)
I voted 70's but was leaning to the 60's. Too much good rock & roll. "
70s for sure. There hasn't been many bands in the last 20 years that I absolutely love. My tastes for them usually dies out after a few months. Most music from the 70s or older I could listen to all day.
