Who else is excited for Inglourious Basterds?
nah.
I mean, yeah it looks like a neat movie, but to be honest, the only thing that caught my eye in the trailers was the fact that it said it was directed by Quentin Tarantino.
i agree. now dont get me wrong, i love the shit out of pulp fiction, reservoir dogs, kill bill 1 and 2, and I definitely want to and will see this, but this really is....unnecessary to say the least. and the trailer, and the voice over narrating it, just sounds like they're trying SOOO HARD to make it seem cool as shit." It just looks a little dumb to me. "
Unsure, seems to me like most other movies with nazi's it will paint the majority of germany as bad people. you don't see too many ww2 movies where they show that it wasn't that way, Harts war was one, and valkrye was as well.
@WilliamRLBaker: Seems to me like the shoe fits. Granted they weren't all bad but they also weren't standing up for what was right. There are movies to commemorate the few who deserve it, the rest can deal.
im super pumped for inglorious basterds. tarantino has been working on the screenplay since pulp fiction. im also think the casting seems spot on so far. there hasnt really been a greatly stylied film that has come out yet this year. im just ready for something that isint so typical.
I listen to a podcast called the Movie Hour hosted by Joe Hilliard and Ethan Thompson, and they were invited to the junket and saw the movie. They were really looking forward to the film but after seeing it felt cheated by the ads. According to them, all the stuff about killing Nazis is only a small part of the movie. Apparently there is a lot of talking in the film and little action until the end. I linked the podcast if you are interested in their reaction and interviews with some members of the cast and producer, you can also find the podcast on Itunes. They said that after speaking with the marketing folks, the ads were made that way to pull people into the theaters. They said that Tarantino "the film maker" is interested in out thinking Tarantino film fans by giving them what they don't expect. Also, I understand that there are a lot of subtitles in the film since the Germans speak German throughout. According to the Movie Hour hosts...
"The film Inglorious Bastards is going to get a lot of attention because it's a Quentin Tarantino movie, but it's not what people are expecting to see...It's not nonstop action, it's not nonstop language like you expect in a Quentin Tarantino film. This is a World War II story told mostly in French, German and Italian with subtitles."
Mind you, they didn't dislike the movie. They just want people to understand that this movie might not be the relentless actioneer like the ads lead you to believe.
I'm all for suspension of disbelief, but Brad Pitt as a Jew? Hahaha, get the fuck out of here. Brad Pitt is the King of the goyim. Brad Pitt's fucking mustache couldn't pass as Jewish.
If they were going to be silly about it they should've gone all out and cast Rutger Hauer and Dolph Lundgren as his Jewish pals. This reminds me of that Bob Dylan movie where Bob Dylan was played by some black lady or some such ridiculousness.
Also, it has been proven time and time again that Brad Pitt can't act. Motherfucker almost ruined Se7en. And Tarantino's scary chin is slowly consuming the rest of his face.
Two thumbs WAY up.
Yeah, almost ruined Se7en.
The scene where they're at the bar and he's like "Well why don't you just go live in a fucking log cabin!" was some of the worst acting in movie history.
The man is a dummy, a big dummy. That's all.
I'm only a fan of one cat. When we make avatars we buckle down and follow the same gameplan, you and I.
I am super excited. I will have to wait until next week to see it, though, because I am seeing District 9 while I will be in Miami for the rest of this week.
is brad pit supposed to be a jew in the movie? his character's name is Aldo Raine, and is from tennessee. hes an american commander who leads a group of 8 jewish american soldiers, not a jew himself. either read about the film, or watch a single trailer before talking about a movie.

His mustache is supposed to be, so maybe you should read MY entire post before talking about what I said.

Not particularly interested. Although I can't help but feel Tarantino must be a huge Unreal Tournament 3 fan. The boxart for UE3, and the poster for this movie look exactly the same.
