@StaticFalconar: Nice shots. Cars look great on camera, I was surprised how much understeer I got though. Should have spent more time setting up the car perhaps.

I have to say, sometimes the penalty system is confusing. Collision penalties especially, going from place 2 to 9 on Rome when I didn't start the chain bump was annoying. :P
Feels like I managed to bump into way too many this week, penalty or not, pitting poor Doe for example. :(

@ghorun: I got two penalties on Tokyo for not-very-forcefully rear ending red on the first lap. Only happened because he braked where I wouldn't have, and the rear ending I gave him didn't really do much apart from boost him forward a bit, but the game decided I needed a time-out on both occasions.

@Binman88: The rear ending is a bigger problem when we drive the same cars, differences in driving style combined with close racing and the will to get past. Felt like there was a bit more contact than usual this week though.

As seen on Nürburg where I ruffed my way past you and Frank on the end of one lap in the chicane, and you bumped me slightly (but enough to understeer wide) in the first corner the next lap and you and Frank passed. And then the same thing again for that next lap. :D

@ghorun: We've been in that corner on Suzuka before with a different outcome, despite the spin I had a blast. I've did my fair share of bumping myself, looking at the replays. I launched Stoop way off the track on Nurburg only to get a delayed collision penalty on Madrid for being bumped myself (wtf?).

@Red12b: I don't know what was going on at Nurburg, but it seems you were inside of my 458 for half a lap. On the replay you're driving next to me, but during the race I couldn't see you as my car was making some scary noises. Some good, fierce dueling overall. The Italia's seem to be a good testimony of picking the right drivingline as drafting isn't doing shit.

@Red12b: Don't feel bad about it, it's GT5's fault. If it weren't for the penalties, neither of us would have been worse off, don't think the bumps even registered any damage.

    Also here's a couple of overly-edited pics.

Vid of the week, Tokyo as requested. There's a little bit of extra at the end if you click the giant ring. Kinda merges the theme of the Racenight and real life racing of that weekend all in one.

I still can't believe I kept up with you guys for that long, with my car having 20 less HP because of bad oil, goddamnit if only I changed it before I started, I was giving it all she got, trying to keep up, so, yeah, I'm happy with what I came away with I could see how the 20 horses effected me in rome, I just couldn't keep up with you three,

I wonder what would've happened if I didn't pull the handbrake on that corner though.

@StaticFalconar: Good stuff yet again with the video, thanks for taking the time to do it.

    @Red12b: & @Everyone:

My settings for the race night for anyone interested. These are the settings I had chosen after some practising before joining the lounge on Saturday - I may have changed some of these in the lounge, but when I went to quit when the race night and mucking around was over, the game froze on exit, forcing me to quit the game without returning to the main menu, and thus not saving any changes I had made.

What I was finding in practice, and some may have found in the actual races, was that the car often needed a very precise entry to a corner as it was prone to understeer and thus very easy to overcook your turns. This setup allows you to enter corners a bit more aggressively, and almost works better at higher speeds as the car leans into the turns allowing you to take them at higher speeds than with the default settings (at least in my experience).
Having said all that, I think it was tighter than the results may show. I arguably only won on Tokyo because Frank misjudged a single corner near the end, and my fastest lap in the video was partially thanks to being in third place with a lovely draft off the cars ahead.

EDIT:Something is totally fucking up with my attempted spoilering of those settings.

@Red12b: If only PD would've put in the promised youtube support. There isn't much to see on the replay though. Apart from a few connection glitches (on my Tokyo replay, Dev disappears and spawns again right in front of me on the straight), the racing seems to be a hell of a lot smoother after patch 1.10. I'm not sure if it's because we've been doing one-make races or if they actually optimized the network code.

@StaticFalconar: Awesome vid. We should definitely do a full Nordschleife some day with suitable cars. At night. In the rain! (For the record, I'm joking about the rain.)

    Edit:
@Binman88: Cheers for sharing the tuning. I'll try the setup one of these days. I never know what the hell I'm supposed to do with the LSD, I'm no Hunter S Thompson.

Hey guys, good times on Saturday. I've just devoted a precious button on my bookmark bar to this thread for quick access, so now you know I'm serious. I also found an actual keyboard I'll be using for the chat. Anyway, I'll be there for this week's race, but as I've never gotten into rally in GT, I'll assuredly suck huge shit-ass. Would a Ford RS200 be an acceptable car? Love that thing. ;)

Rally in GT is about not going too fast. Grip is a precious commodity on a loose surface, and it should be highly valued by the driver. You have to set up your turns well in advance. Drifting through corners is very important. Trying to grip though a corner is going to put you into the wall.

Turn out - Turn in - E Brake - Counter steer - lay on the power.

    AKA Scandinavian flick.

Current Race Night: Race Night 20, Sat. July 2nd, 1pm PDT: Group B 80's Rally

We are racing the Group B rally cars of the 80's. These cars can be found in the OCD and UCD. We are using PP to restrict the cars, this means that there are no weight or hp restrictions. PP will be restricted to 550 this week. These cars are lightweight and powerful, so be sure to practise driving off road with these cars (you'll need it) and adjust TCS or ABS according to how well you can control the car. We are going to use racing softs, dirt tires and snow tires. Aids are off except ABS, TCS, and the driving line. We are using the same points system. False start check will be on, as is weak penalties and there will be reverse grids.

If you have a rally car from the 80s chances are high that it was a group B car.

I was on for a little bit grinding some easy money waiting to see if people would log on, but then I got too bored before anyone else got online and I switched to playing Street Fighter for the day.

Frank is busy for the next two weeks. So next week would be messing around week as well if people log on.

We should actually organize activities for the next racenight. Maybe not a full race series like we normally do but maybe we should just put together a few fun races to do. Like one race can be 80s 450pp on Deep forest raceway. Another could be 650pp supercars on suzuka. and so on and so on. Maybe each of us can come up with one.

Actually I was hoping we could do something like this. I missed out last time though since I got lumped with babysitting business (which may happen for the coming weekends for a long ass time). But yeah, a simple PP and tyre limit with a few number of races sounds fine with me. I would organise them myself but I gravitate towards silly things like Renault Espace race on the 'Ring at night so I don't think everyone will like my ideas. You never know though...

@eroticfishcake: I would be willing to go along with your crazy idea if it meant that I also got to do my own crazy idea ten minuets later. Everyone should have a chance to be the race organizer. I say just don't make it super specific unless you can be sure everyone has a car for it.

@Devil240Z: In that case we should try to limit the type of cars available in the OCD and the UCD. Sharing works too although I would assume most people would prefer to have car of their own regardless of the model. As for Renault Espaces, I've no idea who has one since I've had a hard time finding any (had to trade some Museum cards with Luton to get mine).

@eroticfishcake: Thats why I am saying we should try to keep it general like 80s or FF or Coupe. Things like that.

@Devil240Z: In that case I can just catalog my races as..."People Carriers Championship"...I need more time to think about this.

4th, Nice. Not bad for how fucking bad I sucked that day.

@FrankCanada97: Also we should totally do Honda CRX's. Those things are cool.

I just crashed less than you. I say our overall driving was similar. But I usually play it safe when I am afraid I might crash. Which Is why I didn't get first place on Leige.
